Well, Emma did say this in the most recent episode:

“If Gold did to me what he did to Hook, I’d want to shove that dagger through his heart, too.”

If this theory holds any ground, could that be foreshadowing?

For anyone wondering, that’s definitely not the same egg that Rumple had Charming put inside Mal, which wasn’t a real egg to begin with.

So is she filming a FTL scene? In an AU where Maleficent never lost her?

You think they are weeded out? Do you have something to confirm that, cause that’s not something I’ve ever heard. (not doubting, just curious)

Actually, I’m somewhat wrong. Both are accounted for, but they have separate categories for commercial ratings:

C+3 day commercial ratings: They determine how much the networks get paid for their advertising in most cases (while C+7 day commercial ratings are beginning to be used they vary little from the C+3 ratings). They measure Live and DVR viewing of the average commercial minute during a show within 3 days of airdate. They are rarely available in public.
Live+Same Day program ratings: They are the ratings you see reported almost everywhere on a daily and weekly basis. They measure the Live and DVR viewing until 3am after the airdate of the average minute, program and commercials, during an entire show.
Live + 7 day program ratings: They measure the Live and DVR viewing within 7 days of airdate of the average minute, program and commercials, during an entire show. They are reported in media articles specifically about DVR viewing, and of course, network PR.They are available 2-3 weeks after the original airdate.

So the C+3 day commercial ratings are what determine how much the networks get paid, but those are rarely reported. C+7 day commercial ratings are looked at, but they aren’t that different from the C+3 day ratings to make a real difference.

Final Sunday ratings are in. For the first time in a while, we adjusted up a tenth. Final ratings for 415 are now at a 1.9 demo rating and 5.79 total viewers. It is now tied with the 9pm episode of Last Man on Earth for highest rated scripted show of the night.

    QUESTION

Did we find out the mechanics of how exactly Ursula the ex-mermaid-turned-squid/octopus was banished to our world????

I recall Adam and Eddy mentioning that how Ursula and Cruella got banished to our world will be explored in its own episode. My guess is, we find out in the next episode, as it’s a continuation of Unforgiven’s flashback.

I’ve heard the Live+3 ratings are looked at by advertisers, while Live+7 ratings are largely ignored. Network PRs spin that the Live+7 are what’s important, because obviously those larger numbers are more appealing to look at. Advertisers still aren’t that interested, though. Another thing about the Live+3 and Live+7 ratings is that all shows increase, which might make the DVR gain for a particular show look not as impressive. I should note that Nielsen boxes can tell when Nielsen households fast forward while watching via DVR, so if they were wise and cared about the fate of their shows, they would watch the commercials during DVR playback. I don’t think the ones who skip commercials are even included in the Live+3/Live+7 ratings for that reason.

How much power and control the Author has might lead to a reason why he was trapped behind the door. If he’s someone who actually had influence over people and could create circumstances that led them to make bad choices that led them to become villainous, then perhaps he was locked up – let’s assume by the Sorcerer – because he was leading people astray, like the proverbial “devil on your shoulder”. Basically what I’m getting at I guess is Sorcerer/God kicked Author/Lucifer out and slammed the door on him, hoping to rid everyone of his influence. So if they let him out of the Door and back into the world, they may end up wishing they hadn’t.

That was basically the same theory I was thinking of last night, and I even emailed it to the podcast. Guess I should share what I wrote:

Just thought I’d share this little theory I have about the Author. Some have assumed that Sorcerer might be evil, and trapped the Author in the book for his own nefarious purposes. However, what if this isn’t the case? What if the Author is the sinister and mischievous one? What if the Sorcerer imprisoned the Author in the book, not to abuse his powers for his own gain, but as punishment for his behavior and as a method to keep him under control? Having the power to control everyone’s lives through the power of writing would likely give the Author a God complex, which could in itself be very dangerous. Freeing the Author from his imprisonment could be a huge mistake, and result in yet another catastrophic problem our characters will have to deal with.

Think they said he’d have a three ep arc? So don’t get too attached, (I’m gonna be sad to have him disappear again).

Actually, they didn’t specify how many episodes he would be in:

Pretty much what Watcher said. However, I think it’s important to add what Ariel said in this episode, about villains going about the wrong methods trying to obtain their happy endings. After Ursula lost her singing voice (the last reminder of her mother), she took her anger out in the form of becoming a power hungry monster of the sea. She rebelled against her father, and used his trident to transform herself without his consent. The way she said she wanted to be “exactly” like the Goddess Ursula makes me think she wanted to use the Goddess’ identity to her advantage to strike fear in the oceans. Then of course, when she joined up with the Queens of Darkness, she went along with their various plans in hopes that she could regain her happy ending.

Overall, it comes down to the choices these characters make. Rumple became the Dark One to save his son. Regina wanted to kill Snow for Daniel’s death. Cora grew up as the daughter of a poor miller and resorted to extreme methods of obtaining power. Hook became a pirate after Liam died and would later seek revenge on Rumple for killing Milah. Pan/Malcolm apparently had a crappy childhood working for a blacksmith, and gave into temptation to become a child again forever at the cost of giving up his son. Zelena was fueled with jealousy over her sister as a result of being abandoned by Cora. Ingrid…uhm…got imprisoned by Gerda in the urn after accidentally killing Helga, and went to extreme measures to find replacement “sisters” who are magical just like her (Oh, and blonde hair and blue eyes. Having darker hair like Gerda and Anna makes you bad!). Their lives sucked, but they went about trying to fix them the wrong way, and that’s what ultimately screwed them over.

I think with Ursula, it’s mainly that we never got to see her wrong doings prior to joining the Queens of Darkness. Ursula’s been around for at least 200 years. A lot could have happened during that time frame. It’s a shame she was mostly reduced to a mere sidekick, with Maleficent getting the most attention out of the three. I think Cruella will be similarly underdeveloped, though at least she’s sticking around in present day SB longer than Ursula is. I appreciate that Ursula at least had an enjoyable backstory episode, but more definitely could have been done with her. Anyway, here’s the direct quote from her transformation scene for context:

“Don’t you understand? My singing was the only thing keeping mother’s spirit alive. And now she’s gone forever. You wanted me to choose a side? Well father, I’m choosing one. Mine! All you ever wanted was for me to remain your precious little mermaid. Well I’m not gonna be that anymore. In fact, I’m not gonna be a mermaid at all. You named me Ursula after the Sea Goddess of old. Legend says she was strong and powerful. Well that’s exactly what I want to be! Now I’m even more powerful than you, and the whole Sea will be at the mercy of my every whim. You don’t need to protect me, father. You need to fear me.”
