Looks like this is definitely Robin Hood centric, according to this tweet between Kalinda Vazquez and Scott Nimerfro

.@ScottNimerfro very excited for your upcoming episode sir. Going to be an outlaw of a good time šŸ˜‰

This makes sense, given the behind the scenes pics of Robin and his family in NYC recently.

GAH we really need S2. Would they really have left things THIS open ended if they didn’t already have at least a handshake agreement for a S2? I feel like they’d have shot alternate endings and had either one ready to go to air, depending on if they were likely to come back or not? I mean, it seems insane to leave off where they did if they didn’t think they’d get to continue the story?

Sadly, TV shows being cancelled on a cliffhanger isn’t something new: http://underscoopfire.com/worst-cliffhangers-left-by-cancelled-shows/

ABC probably doesn’t care about it being unresolved if the ratings weren’t up to their expectations, though who knows how high those expectations really were. Surely they knew what they were getting into airing the show in only 4 weeks with half of those weeks against a major awards show and the 2nd biggest night of Football in the year. The show did at least joke about the possibility of not getting renewed with the lyrics “or will all the singing kill our Nielsen ratings?” I will say that thanks to the enthusiastic Galavant actors and the Galavant fanbase, #RenewGalavant did trend on Twitter last night, if that helps at all. Oh and guys, I seriously suggest buying the soundtrack on iTunes if you can. If the music at least sells well, that could give ABC an incentive to give the show another chance. Regardless, Galavant was a fun ride, and I’m still glad I watched it no matter what happens.

Overall, loved Galavant til the end of the Season. Highlights tonight were seeing Anthony Stewart Head as Galavant’s father in a flashback, Galavant and Richard’s bromance (especially when they got drunk), Galabella finally kissing, and Gareth had some fun moments. What’s disappointing to me is how the series ended with too much unresolved. I get the desire to leave things open for a Season 2, but it’s a risk when you don’t know you’re going to be renewed. Unfortunately when all 8 episodes were already produced before the series even premiered, there wasn’t time to change the ending. Fingers crossed a Season 2 miraculously happens.

Hmm, interesting. That’s not what I expected. With a picture of Hook, I thought it would give us more flashbacks to his time as a pirate. But more Killian Jones backstory before all that is awesome too. Good form even :)

Actually, I think this is set before the events of the Crocodile but after Good Form. Might even be before Milah.

Agreed. He wasn’t officially “Captain Hook” until he left for Neverland.

Here’s the official press release, which I received via email:

MARVEL AND ABC STUDIOS ANNOUNCE ALL-NEW ORIGINAL GRAPHIC NOVEL, ONCE UPON A TIME: OUT OF THE PAST

New York, NY (January 23rd, 2015) – Marvel Entertainment and ABC Studios are proud to announce the follow up graphic novel to the massively successful Once Upon A Time: Shadow of the Queen. ONCE UPON A TIME: OUT OF THE PAST is an all new graphic novel inspired by ABC’s popular television series ā€œOnce Upon a Time.ā€ This 112-page hardcover hits comic shops and bookstores everywhere on April 1st, 2015.

Welcome to Storybrooke, a small New England town where seemingly regular people go about their everyday lives with no idea who they really are – the fabled storybook characters we all grew up with! But Fairy Tale Land is not the “happily ever after” you may have read about – their stories continue, and the Evil Queen has set a dark curse upon their homeland.

Travel back in ONCE UPON A TIME: OUT OF THE PAST to the origin stories of your favorite characters from the show!

Board the Jolly Roger on an adventure with the young Killian Jones, before he was known as the notorious Captain Hook, as he uncovers the mysteries of the Leviathan Shoals and the monster that lurks beneath the surface.

Witness the early sparks of Rumplestiltskin’s and Belle’s star-crossed romance, when Belle was just a servant in Rumplestiltskin’s castle.

Travel to the Enchanted Forest with the Evil Queen, Regina, where she faces down demons from her past. Will the skeletons in her closet haunt her forever?

Experience Wonderland in the unforgettable origin tale of Jefferson, the portal-jumping Mad Hatter, and witness the loss that caused him to lock away his magical hat for good.

ONCE UPON A TIME: OUT OF THE PAST brings together the best graphic novel creators in the industry, including ā€œOnceā€ series writer Kalinda Vazquez, returning writer Corinna Bechko (ONCE UPON A TIME: SHADOW OF THE QUEEN, PLANET OF THE APES), and featuring the lush art of Eisner award winning Janet Lee (DAPPER MEN, EMMA), Pascal Campion (PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR, SHERMAN AND PEABODY), Vanesa Del Rey (HIT, SINATORO), and Betsy Peterschmidt (BOYS WITH WINGS) with cover artist Stacey Lee (SILK).

ONCE UPON A TIME: OUT OF THE PAST will arrive in comic shops and bookstores everywhere on April 1st, 2015.

Currently in its fourth season, ONCE UPON A TIME returns with all new episodes Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 8|7c on the ABC Television Network.

He could be the author. A peddler is someone who travels from place to place selling goods. What better person to collect tales than someone who travels extensively. You can’t write about the goings-on throughout many kingdoms if you’re sitting in a village hovel or a castle tower. You need to be out collecting tales or witnessing it firsthand. A peddler moving around all the time would be a perfect cover.

Not that a peddler hasn’t served as the storyteller for a Disney film, either. The most obvious example is the peddler from Aladdin, who opens up the film. There’s also Clopin, King of the Gypsies, from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, who serves a similar role.
