Thank you, Matt. 🙂 I miss theorizing. The whole Nealfire thing kinda put me off the show and I’m also one of the few that isn’t thrilled about Frozen either. I hope if they delve into Arthurian Legend and the Holy Grail, they make it more than one episode. In my mind, there’s so much more of a story to tell with that than Frozen. Can’t help but see the comparison of leg wounds between Rumple and The Fisher King. As well, we’ve already seen a Chimera & an Yaoguaiin in OUAT & a Bandersnatch in OUATW. Who knows, maybe we’ll see a Questing Beast. 🙂
Considering the show has already had a little bit of Arthurian Legend with Lancelot and Excalibur, further exploring that stuff would make a whole lot of sense.
I don’t know which version of the DVDs this is available on, but I saw a post on tumblr that there is commentary for 3×22. Notes are here.
I believe I have found the back cover thanks to a forum devoted to DVD coverart. This was specifically posted in their scanned covers section:

What the heck does this have to do with anything????
Especially when Rip Van Winkle is an American folk tale that specifically takes place in America. I know we’ve had Frankenstein’s Austrian realm and Mulan’s random Chinese village, but something about an American folk tale character living in the Enchanted Forest just feels even stranger. Might be the reason this scene was cut, other than being pointless.
