ModeratorI do think that Once may at least make it to Season 4, so they can sell reruns to syndication. One other factor that could possibly tie into Once’s ratings weakening is that it had a stronger lead-off program with Desperate Housewives. Compared to Desperate Housewives, Revenge has been rather weak and therefore there is less of a draw to ABC’s Sunday Night lineup.
As for an alternate night, it’s tricky. Monday and Tuesdays are normally reserved for reality shows on ABC, aside from Castle on Mondays at 10 and Body of Proof on Tuesdays at 10. Castle is too successful to go anywhere, but Body of Proof is in danger of cancellation. The 10 pm slot on Tuesdays aren’t great ratings wise in general, so maybe not the best place to move Once to. Wednesdays are all reserved for comedy, aside from Nashville at 10pm, which does pretty well. There is the Thursday slot at 8pm right before Grey’s Anatomy, which Zero Hour was just cancelled on. However, Once would be competing with both American Idol and the Big Bang Theory/Two and a Half Men. Fridays and Saturdays are just death slots for failing shows or shows that are cheap enough to do modestly well. Despite the Football and Award shows dilemma during the winter, Sundays at 8 still seems like the best place to keep Once, sadly.

ModeratorIf they did chose to air the Season finale (21 and 22) together in the same night, that could honestly be a huge ratings grabber that this show really needs right now. I do know that episode 22 HAS to air on May 12th, because the Billboard Music Awards air the week after. I doubt ABC would risk another break right before the Season finale.

ModeratorAlso, given Cora’s manipulative nature, the way she brings up the topic of Regina being unhappy when she talks to Snow also hints that Cora was well aware of the situation. Cora was waiting for Snow to burst out in confession, and was using the “losing your mother” tactic to make her do so. Cora was using Snow as a scapegoat.

ModeratorI myself am not hoping for a twist that Rumple is Regina’s real father. This is all way too complicated for the general audience to grasp, not to mention the family tree would become even more messed up.

ModeratorWell, neither Archie or Granny are listed in episode cast according to the press release for this episode, so I think we can rule them out.

ModeratorGeez, if Once can’t recover to higher numbers for the rest of the Season, I don’t have high hopes for anything past a third Season. While everyone is blaming the “constant breaks” for Once’s ratings, you have to realize that Season 1 had the same breaks last winter (one for the Super Bowl, one for the Oscar), and yet it actually continued to do really well. There was also no special competition (award show or Football) to blame for these ratings. I’m afraid people are actually losing interest, particularly a good portion of the Nielsen viewers (the very sample of viewers who determine how the ratings turn out). I’ve heard several people complain about this Season’s pacing and writing, and these diminishing ratings seem to correlate with those complaints.
All we can do now is hope by some fluke Once’s ratings go back up for the last episodes of the Season. Especially the Season finale, because if that can’t get higher ratings, that would be pathetic. I would advise that ABC and the producers rethink how to handle Season 3. A stronger sense of direction is definitely in need, and perhaps even a timeslot change could help. Season 3 will have a clean slate to start with, so if it starts out strong and continues to do so, Once can be saved from this declining slope.

ModeratorI can understand why people like myself can’t help but look at spoilers. Some of us are too impatient to wait for each episode to air, and we want to find out as much more as we can now while we wait. But yeah, I recommend any of the suggestions said here.

ModeratorWhile I am an opponent for the Bae is Peter Pan theory, there was something at PaleyFest that caught my interest. When the panel was asked about current characters on the show having Fairy Tale identities left to be revealed this Season, Adam & Eddy initially said no, but some of the cast said “well…kinda….” or something along those lines.

ModeratorHopefully we’ll get more information once or if the press release is ever posted, but IMBD lists that Eva Allen is playing Princess Eva, so unless this is incorrect, this might rule out Eva and Cora being sisters. You can't be a princess if your father is a miller.

ModeratorHook is also a bit out of action locked away in a closet back in NYC, and without his ship he won’t be able to get back to Storybrooke so quickly.
