MysteryKat25Participant
I think they mostly just released the first 9.5 minutes because they showed them at PaleyFest. It does drum up excitement though, especially for an episode of this magnitude. Hope everybody changed their clocks for tonight so there’s no excuses!
I do remember Henry Sr. saying something in the clip about the dress being stolen and we saw her pick up the mask.
Glad we can pretty much finally put to rest the Rumple is Regina’s dad thing. I never really thought that simply because of the traditional Rumple story. Just figured that Regina was the bargaining chip he almost won but lost out of when the Miller’s Daughter finds her way out of the deal (presumably by guessing his name but hopefully we shall learn tonight!).
As for the fake clues….red herrings from Jane Espenson? Never! I kid, I kid…but she does love to throw them in from time to time. Otherwise all the hardcore fans would know everything way in advance! And we know much more than we should I’m sure. However it does lead to other fun theories since sometimes it mentions places we haven’t seen or stories we didn’t think would be included and it takes us off an a new tangent so that when we see somebody else who might fit the bill we already have those gears turning about how it might fit into it (similar to the he is Frankenstein or the Wizard debate – red herrings galore for the Wizard but it got us thinking about how the Wizard might fit in later on and left it to that nice reveal at the end for Frankenstein.)
*Curse you promo for being THAT obvious. Is nothing sacred?? Promos are to tease, not give away the last 5 minutes visually!*
I’m starting to think they’re turning us into nifflers (Harry Potter reference): we get distracted very easily now by little shiny things (clues) and ignore all else. The clues do usually lead to some interesting connections. At least it makes for happy clue digging and new theories abound!
Grats RumplesGirl on getting it right! I’m sure it won’t be your last 🙂

MysteryKat25ParticipantIn The Crocodile they did go to Neverland right after burying Milah at sea but I was referring more to those missing years when we know Milah was with Killian – more of a has he / they been there before so he was going back? Or did he only choose to go there because he knew of the time stopping thing?
I’m guessing if he was ever there before it was as a child / lost boy? so Milah wouldn’t have ever been there with them and they likely just sailed the seas together but we still have those missing years to deal with so not officially ruling it out (though it is unlikely…if he could have had forever with the one he loved without aging and if they were happy there why leave?)

MysteryKat25ParticipantBeautifully laid out argument irishdancing221! I’ve been a huge fan of this theory for a long time.
I know one of the main problems people have had with this theory (as far as how it makes sense, not whether they want Bae to be yet another person) is the fact that the bean was supposed to take him to a land without magic. Since you’re more of an expert here maybe you can help better explain where I’m going with the following:
I *think* it was in the movie HOOK (which I need to rewatch sometime soon), they have a whole thing about how you become a lost boy (including Peter). In fact I think it was the scene where he’s finally remembering who he was. It was something along the lines of when you’re abandoned and become “lost” you end up in Neverland which made me think: what if when Rumple let go of Bae the vortex diverted him to Neverland BECAUSE he became “a lost boy.” Rumple himself has called him this before. Peter was the head of the lost boys, but he was still a lost boy.
As I’ve suggested elsewhere it makes sense that Bae would change his name to something less conspicuous if he wanted to avoid Rumple after what happened. Otherwise how easy would that trail be to follow with such a unique name? It would toss Bae straight to Neverland even though the bean was originally supposed to take him supposedly to our world, it would explain the name change, and traditional versions of the story say that Peter had ways of getting to and from Neverland and once he got here he changed it to something else so that the trail ends with Neverland (or wherever else he may have gone in the meantime. Others have expounded on the Neal Cassidy connections to Peter Pan already).
The lyrics and images that go with the Disney version of Peter Pan for “Second Star to the Right” are very fitting. This is easily found on youtube. Fun fact: H&K have said Peter Pan is their favorite and when Peter and the children are seen on the clock tower…guess what time it is? 8:15 pm. Goooo figure 🙂
As for Tamara being Tink I could see that. One of the things that make think it possible is the fact that Tink is usually in love with Peter but ultimately doesn't get him. Fiancee getting in the way of a possible SwanFire reunion is a perfect fit. She will get to be jealous of their history once she learns about Henry and cause goodness knows what kind of trouble.
As for the names of the episodes? SOO excited! (Scared cause it’s finale and Hook is my favorite character and episodes blatantly named for certain characters are always iffy. Part of me is thrilled we finally get to go to Neverland (and presumably learn more about Hook), and part of me is scared for his life. Stop foreshadowing his death already!! He has so much potential still for many storylines! Also enough killing off the hot Irish men who flirt with Emma. It's just mean.

MysteryKat25ParticipantYou know you’ve stayed up too late when you start missing details of your favorite character / ship! I completely forgot that Smee was the one to ask that (and it seems like they met around that time too if I recall).
Guess it’s time to rewatch The Crocodile in the near future. Oh the horror. It’s a tough job but somebody’s gotta do it 😉
Hopefully we do get lots of Hook’s past. He always comes across as Jack Sparrow mixed with the Dread Pirate Roberts to me so I’d be interested to see how he became that way and if, as you say, he might be related to one Davy Jones. So much potential story left for him!
Keeper of Hook's Trenchcoat.
MysteryKat25ParticipantThat’s true, we haven’t gotten much of that. I’d definitely be interested in seeing how that would play out. We haven’t heard much other than last season when Emma is talking to MM and saying that the stories in Henry’s book aren’t exactly the traditional stories. We haven’t really seen them address it post-curse other than David having heard of the Mad Hatter from the Alice in Wonderland book and not from FTL. Would love to see them have some kind of conversation about how they were portrayed.
Emma should have some interesting stories for sure now that she’s meeting people! (I still love her constant Pinocchio references – implication that it was Henry in the pilot, freaking out that August was insane because he said he was Pinocchio in The Return, and then of course the ever classic you left me because Pinocchio told you to? in Manhattan. Time for other characters to be addressed! And of course we can’t forget her initial reaction to the curse being real: that she just had a conversation with the Evil Queen & Rumplestiltskin. Definitely needs to be more of that).

MysteryKat25ParticipantThank you Phee! (And it’s perfectly acceptable to disagree as long as we aren’t disagreeable about it) 🙂
I completely understand what you mean about the happy dance. I was thrilled when NealFire implied he had been to Neverland…and then I noticed the wording. *Cringes* He said “This wasn’t my first stop”….everybody has been complaining about the fact that he was supposed to come here first (we really need to see where he ended up and how / why? Maybe the bean portal lost it’s direction once Rumple let go since it was intended for him?) and I spent weeks / months defending that Peter was in our world for a time and still managed to go to Neverland and back from there and probably just got stuck in our world when the curse struck and then aged. So of course NealFire has to basically say he went straight there. *Smacks forehead*
Interesting. I vaguely recalled something about a British accent but wasn’t sure who it definitely connected to. The only issue I have with anything relating to her being a FTL or involved in it and Neal knowing…is that he wasn’t happy to learn that Emma was part of that world. He basically said once he knew that he was done, he didn’t want to go where his father was, but he wanted Emma to find her home / family. He knew that’s what she always wanted and knew that she was the Savior and was needed elsewhere. He clearly wasn’t thrilled about her connection to the life he’s been avoiding for centuries so I would be very surprised if he knew about whoever Tamara is. It would make more sense if it was Wendy as she wouldn’t have come from there originally but would know some things. The biggest question is the time gap. Wendy could have gone to Neverland whenever and spent time there with him, not an issue, but…
…why didn’t he bring her back with him? Or if he did, why did they separate? Was this before the Emma thing? (Presumably so). And how long have they been together this time? Sooo many questions if she is a FTL character but I’d like to think she’s something more than just a random plot device to keep them apart. Even Abigail’s story was alluding to a rare fairy tale (Catherine & Frederick) rather than just having Kathryn be a plot device to keep Snowing apart. So I’d reallly like to think there’s more to Tamara than meets the eye. Otherwise the triangle would still be in place for Neal Emma Hook…now it’s a square throwing Tamara in there. Not only does Emma have her choice of men, she now has her choice of triangles! *smacks forehead again*

A part of me can’t help but feel that the nature of the show is always going to have this delicate balance where they deal with characters sufficiently and not include too many. For right now they have a lot of characters (regular, peripheral, and only when necessary). But then truthfully it’s sort of difficult to then see that some character like Jack was dealt with so quickly. That seems to be the only way of dealing with the majority of future characters. Then if they do add a couple of new characters to the mix I hope that they really do add to the storyline.
For instance I absolutely love the theory I have read about Hook and Ariel. It fits so nicely so in that case I wouldn’t then mind her being added as a ongoing character. (Although I would find it funny if Hook’s name was Eric Killian Jones 😛 )
That would be interesting. It’s the only way that that pairing would work since we would expect Eric’s name to be Eric…not sure how much of a “prince” that Hook would be but it would be interesting.
I agree it’s a delicate balance. As I’ve said many times this is Once Upon A Time, not Snow White so we do need to occasionally see other stories bleed in from time to time. It gives lots of potential for future plotlines. Never know when you’ll need someone with a certain skill set that only a new character can introduce.

MysteryKat25ParticipantThere are characters people love and others people hate (and they are all different to each of us).
That being said…this is Once Upon A Time…not Snow White (most of the main characters are from Snow White hence my using that as an example here). We NEED to see all these other characters that were involved or we really are just doing a SW series which this is not. I kinda love seeing how other fairy tales can be brought in, even if only briefly, and they are usually relevant even if we can’t see how just yet. There may be huge things on the horizon for any character. Looking forward to seeing it.
I will say this given the fact that I have watched Lost and I’ve noticed this with Once as well…there were characters season 1 of Lost that I absolutely HATED…and by the end they were some of my favorite people and the supposed good people at the beginning eventually grated (on me, just my opinion). The same is true of Once…I never really “hated” Rumple in the beginning but it was just like man, he’s always here, how is he involved in everything?? And then Desperate Souls happened…and Skin Deep…etc etc and now he’s one of my faves! So just give it some time. 🙂
Keeper of Hook's Trenchcoat.
MysteryKat25ParticipantGypsy that is proof right there that most don’t notice things if they didn’t know the source material. Stephen King is outside of my normal genre and I never knew about all the SK nods in Once!
The only things outside my frame of reference are things people mention on various podcasts or here in the forums. So cool!
Besides, it’s fun to post…no ONE person is gonna find absolutely every nod to everything: a team of people put it all together and all added their own little ideas of things to allude to I’m sure. It’s our job to help each other out! That’s why I love rewatching this show so much. You always catch something new, even when you already know what to look for!
I also didn’t know that they pitched it 2 years before Lost and were turned down. I did know that they thought of it back then and just thought they were learning under the Lost crew and then pitched it. Wow. What a lesson in persistence! So glad the network changed their minds. Without it we wouldn’t have this wonderful show and community to go along with it!
Keeper of Hook's Trenchcoat.
MysteryKat25ParticipantI’d be ok with her being a normal person as well. Sadly given Bae’s track record of thinking he fell for a non-FTL person is not very good.
