Before he drank the water, you could see the effects of the poison in the veins in his face and all, but when he drank the water, it went away because it makes it appear as though the person has been completely healed. That’s why Liam had assumed he was completely healed. In the Diner scene, there was no longer a physical manifestation of the injury that they could have shown us healing, so instead they showed him just feeling like the magic potion was working on his insides.
Oh that’s good. I never caught that part of it!

I wonder… In Neverland, belief really does make things real, and everybody started believing in the potion before they left the island.
That’s an interesting theory.
I guess so. It just seemed odd. Every time we’ve needed to see how Charming was doing in Neverland with the Dreamshade, he’d pull up his shirt.
Granny probably would have had a fit and lectured him about exposure in public places.
But why then, didn’t Charming pull up his shirt to see if it was really taking effect?
This is why killing her one time wasn’t enough in the premiere. It had to be done twice.
I actually agree with this. I saw the sneak peek and it looked horrible there and also, in the episode.
It didn’t occur to me that it might be a placebo, but that scene did strike me as odd. Honestly, would you just drink a potion made by Mr. Gold without some sort of second thought? Seriously? Redeemed or not, I still don’t trust him. David had no choice, he had to trust, but still. David did seem a tiny bit frisky after drinking it though. Maybe Gold spiked that potion with a little something he (Gold) might need at a later date.
Placebo effect! Yes, thank you! That’s what I was trying to think of. The potion was a placebo effect.
