ParticipantWhat is left in this story of the ideal, classic fairy tale, it is a soap now with magic for plot devices and an obvious eye on fan reaction. I guess for me there is no hope because they cannot undo my awareness of plot devices, the crashing of my suspension of disbelief.
Before 3B, those plot devices and whatnot still existed, but for me they were easier to accept, easier to find a way to fanwank them, and they didn’t bother me nearly as much, and that was because despite all of that stuff, I still believed in the core and heart and moral of the show as a whole. So a few magical plot devices along the way was no biggie in the grand scheme of things. But with my faith in the message of the show broken, I’m less forgiving, less willing to fanwank. And it’s not JUST because of what they did to Neal. That may have been the moment when my rose coloured glasses came off, but what they’ve done with other characters is disheartening as well. It feels like the whole spirit of the show has devolved, like it’s a train that’s just run RIGHT off the rails.
OMG I just realised a thing when I said that about the train. LOL *goes hunting for BTTF3 screencaps*
This happened…

But then in the end, this happened…

3B is the train from BTTF3. š So I’ll stay put on the Conspiracy Train and wait for the trashed, flaming wreck to ultimately become shiny and new and take flight.
It wouldn’t repair all the plot holes and magical devices, but if they can restore the moral and message and hope of the story, then I can maybe get back to that place where the holes and devices don’t distract and bother me as much.
PS. lecygne, I love that you made Saint Shatner your avatar!

ParticipantThey saw the Curse as a bus that would take them from point A to point B but thatās not just what the curse was for.
All things considered, it’s actually sort of laughable that they refered to what they did as re-using the Dark Curse. Regina destroyed the scroll, which was meant to have destroyed the Curse once and for all, right? With no scroll, how did she even manage to replicate the Curse at all? It took Rumple centuries to craft that thing, but Regina recalled the intricacies of it off the top of her head to replicate it on the spot? There was no cauldron involved last time, in fact it was quite the opposite, she used fire. The new Curse wouldn’t do the same thing the original Curse did because it wasn’t going to remove any memories, and that was half the point of the Curse in the first place. And the price paid for the Curse can now be circumvented. All told, they threw the actual Curse out the window and made up a new thing that they labeled as the old thing, just so they had a plot device to get everyone back to our world. So if they threw out all the other rules, Regina as Curse breaker is just another thing to add to the list.

ParticipantIf Emma could just tap into her own reserve of TL white magic, then we might actually see her get big results
That’s actually another thing that would make this scene work for me as a body switch. Emma’s newborn baby brother is actively in the process of being used as a spell ingredient. If anything could force her into focusing her TL magic and blasting it like a pro, that should do it.

ParticipantPhee has the ability to see hope in anything. Itās official
Extreme cynicism is a more accurate description. LOL I just refuse to take anything about this hot mess at face value. š

ParticipantThe show doesnāt call her āthe saviorā the characters do. Characters are flawed and make assumptions.
The characters are the conduit of the writers. If the characters constantly keep referring to Emma as the Saviour, it’s because the story tellers don’t want us to forget that she’s the Saviour. I do agree with you that her Saviour role was specific to the original Curse and now her role as a magical being should just be as a super powerful magical being. But the writers insist on continually labeling her with that Saviour title.

ParticipantThat is SIX of your characters that you have had make absolutely pointless sacrifices. What the heck is going on with this show?
It’s a show all about hope, dontcha know.
About JMo’s interview, call me stubborn but I’m still not convinced that it necessarily rules anything out. In this same interview she talks about a movie she’s currently shooting and another project she’s about to direct. Just because she’s had other projects in the works, that doesn’t mean she’s not on Once any more, so the same could be said of MRJ. And it’s not like she could give anthing away even remotely if he’s coming back, so I really wouldn’t expect her to say anything other than what she said.

ParticipantRanisha, YES, now that you mention it, I remember his tweets about that!
OMG that trampled shack looks so quintessentially Sad Town!
I really do suspect it may be a body swap. First time I watched it, Regina just didn’t feel right, but if you watch it thinking of Regina as Emma, it feels much more in character. Also, Charming’s line about how the Snowflake can do anything, just like his big sister. Like, I know Emma’s done some pretty awesome stuff, but what did she do in this particular scene apart from falling on her arse, that might prompt him to say such a thing in that moment? If she’d just posed as Regina to trick Zelena and saved them all from a time travel Curse, then Charming’s line fits better. So either the crack theory is right, or Regina’s gonna be firmly added to the OOC list with just about everyone else.

Participant*HUGS* Text, it’s not your fault for having asked about it in the safety of our little thread. It never should have been taken over to the chat is all, and that wasn’t your doing.

ParticipantI’m just gonna sit over here in Crack Conspiracy Corner with the Regina/Emma body switched theory. No matter the amount of redemption, I just can’t imagine Regina actually labeling herself a “hero”, especially not when 24 hours earlier she was asking Robin what he even sees in her. You don’t go from that mindset to “I’m a hero” that fast. Those words would make so much more sense coming out of Emma’s mouth, and the light magic would make so much more sense coming out of Emma’s hands. (They have been prone to OOC writing lately though, so who knows.)
In other news, I could watch this gif all day long…
Bye bye auntie Zelena š

ParticipantI haven’t heard anything about that, textbookone, and I haven’t seen anything about it on tumblr either, and I lurk on there every single day. If it had happened, it would have been posted somewhere and spread through the fandom pretty quickly.
