ParticipantAs usual, I’m reading the thread before seeing the ep. Judging by that gif, Neal actually SEPARATED from Rumple long enough to send the freaking bird? So he could separate himself long enough to have a coherent thought, then get reabsorbed? So why exactly did we need Emma doing it and then death just so that Rumple could have 5 seconds of coherent thought to say a name?
PS. The ridiculousness and hypocrisy of Snowing casting the Curse is astounding!

ParticipantI’m gonna guess that the “surprise” return he’s talking about is Philora, even though it’s not actually a surprise to anyone who saw the promo.

ParticipantWORD to ALL of that, lunatiger! For all those reasons, I honestly don’t see how Emma and Hook can be considered anything like TL, so if the show goes there any time soon, it will honest to God leave me baffled.

ParticipantYou’d think that leaving a newborn alone in the woods would earn someone at least a black spot. But I guess maybe they did know back then that she’d done that. đ
Looking at screencaps of Regina’s heart, on the whole, it does look about the same at both points in time, but it’s this shot in particular that had stuck in my head, making it seem like it looked a fair bit brighter…

Compared to the brightest it was in the earlier ep…

ParticipantOMGosh I had the same headcanon a few days ago! The pendant will save her and at the same time give Henry back his memories!
Itâs too beautiful to be trueâŚ. đ
It’s a slim chance, to be sure, it could go either way, but if by some freak twist it does happen, we’ll have a cookie FEAST.

ParticipantNow, if they do decide to make CS canon, I am going to be angry. Why? Not only because they put CS together, but because they killed Neal to make it so. This shows that the writers have had no interest in the character since they conceived him. I mean, THEY WERE THE ONES THAT CALLED MRJ FOR THIS ROLE! To quote Agent Coulson (for all my SHIELD friends out there), âThis has to mean something!â
It would be incredibly lazy writing for them to have killed off one of their few 100% original characters just to make CS happen. It would be offensive to Neal’s character as a whole. It would be them throwing away YEARS’ worth of their own hard work. And frankly, the way they’ve been writing Hook so shady lately, if they do pull some stunt that shows CS as TL, it would be straight up laughable, because Emma doesn’t even truly know him right now.

ParticipantDSB, you’re in my head again. đ
I pondered last night, why bring the pendant back into it?
Several days and a million pages ago, I posted that perhaps the pendant would protect Emma from the curse if Hook goes to kiss her. It was pure crack when I said it, but the more I’ve thought about it over the last few days, the more I feel like that necklace HAS to have some significance, considering they brought it back. Adam confirmed that the title for tonight’s ep is a riff on the lyric, “the power of love is a curious thing”, and it would be hella curious if a burst of energy came outta that pendant when Emma needs it most, to help protect both herself and Henry. I know there was a BTS pic of JMo wearing the pendant again, but can’t for the life of me recall which ep it was for, so I don’t wanna say I’m completely convinced that it’ll be significant in this ep, but I DO think it will be significant at some point, because they went to the trouble of not only showing it again, but declaring it as an object infused with TL, which is seriously powerful stuff. And if they’re gonna draw on that energy in the pendant for whatever reason, that’s gonna be a sign that Neal’s still with her. And I can’t help but think that if they’re gonna show THAT, then it could lead to something more. How could they set her up in a convincing relationship with someone else when she’s still closely connected to Neal’s TL?
Guys, this story is Phoenix-based. It is a NECESSITY for the firebird to burn up, rest in ashes, and then be reborn.
YES!!!
You donât spend an episode on establishing a guy as âstill a pirateâ in the lost year, where he murders someone in cold blood, have him insinuate heâs changed, and then have him teach a preteen how to cheat at dice in the present, without a reason. They have set Hook up in bad bad shape, and I am FAR more confident we will see him take a fall than I am of Nealâs return. He is continually being written as a guy who is hiding stuff, which is a huge setup for the truth to come out and the repercussions to be felt.
Yup, they’ve been continuing to write him as being shady, and that’s gotta be building to something.
I think tonight will be interesting. I concur with whomever (Heather?) said that it should give us some clues as to where the rest of the season is headed. And itâs an A&E episode, so we know it is setting up the story precisely as they want it told. I am crossing everything I have that it is told in a manner consistent with the long-term history of once, rather than its short-term history. I NEED it to be that.
Agreed. I wouldn’t say I’m “excited” for tonight’s ep, but I AM very interested to see what happens, because it should tell us a fair bit about whether or not there’s still hope left for the story.

ParticipantArtseediva, that new graphic is perfect! OMG THEIR FACES! <3
Thatâs what I keep going back to, though, RG. Theyâre not that stupid. These are the SAME writers who wrote Price of Gold, which was basically a retelling of Tallhassee, right down to the parallel back seat popup! â which didnât even happen until a full YEAR later. These are the same writers who included my favorite âthick as thievesâ line in the second episode, to describe Emma and Henry â long, long before we saw that Henryâs heritage was, indeed, having thieves as parents. We had no reason to think that of Emma at the time, as she was in fact on the other side of the law! The same writers who wrote half of Henryâs parental history into pilot â taxi with stolen credit card (stealing a car,) asking Emma for a drink as soon as he meets her, etc. If they can put THAT MUCH forethought into episodes THAT FAR ahead, do they really have a character make a vow in 311 that they know will never come to fruition due to story just a few episodes later? And why send E&H to NYC, why (why oh WHY) Charleyâs girl? WHY BOTHER?
I just⌠I just donât know with this show. It has the potential to be SO awesome and then it comes off as just⌠not. I am so baffled. I donât get it.
Exactly. These writers have shown some seriously incredibly clever skill before. SERIOUSLY! So how has it all turned to crap so spectacularly? I just don't see how it's possible that the same writers are writing this current story tangent, unless there's some sneaky twist still coming to flip everything back into balance again.Phee
ParticipantYES YES YES Phee. And if theyâve had the death planned since the S2/S3 break, WHY ON GODâS GREEN EARTH did they have him say that? Itâs just cruelty, if you know it wonât happen. Just have him say, âIâll see you again,â he could even say it to both of them but it could be interpreted as if he was just speaking to Emma. But no. He specifically said, âIâll see you BOTH again.â
Yyyyyup. When they were finalising 311, they absolutely already knew what was happening in 315. Scripts get revised MANY times, that’s why the industry uses different colours of paper for different versions of the script, so they know which is the most up to date version. Things can be revised right up until the last moment, (A&E could even put in a call for them to change a line while an ep is already being shot if they really wanted to), and the script for 315 would have totally been in some stage of development when they were shooting 311. So, yeah, it just doesn’t mesh together, it doesn’t make any sense, unless they were being blatantly cruel by giving Neal that line, and I’d like to think that they aren’t THAT cruel.

ParticipantI donât ship SF because I want them bam happy ending together. I want to SEE their story, I want to see them deal with the stuff that A&E so carefully set up. They SHOULD have conversations about the hurt. They SHOULD have conversations about how to move past that. How can Emma deal with the fact that she still loves the person who hurt her so badly? How can Neal deal with his self-hatred over the situation? What about her reacting to the fact that she sort of wished him dead in Neverland â and that she had a hand in his death in the woods? WHERE IS THIS CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. How about the fact that we NEVER saw Neal react to the fact that his kid was given up for adoption and just recently located? And, most stuck in my craw at the moment, I would reallllly like to see him fulfill his promise to see his kid again. He was supposed to break the cycle of abandonment⌠that doesnât mean âgo die in the EF to resurrect your Dad,â that means BE AROUND TO BE A PARENT to your son.
PREACH!!! You’ll notice I haven’t taken Neal’s 311 quote out of my sig. That’s not just laziness over not having edited my sig, it’s because THAT LINE HAS TO HAVE MEANT SOMETHING, and if it didn’t, then I’m with you, not enough rage emoticons in the universe to adequately express how I feel about it. That line was about Neal’s character journey, and his strength, and his resolve to break the abandonment cycle, and if they just tossed his entire characterisation down the drain, then I can’t even! I just refuse to believe that they’d toss it away so completely and so quickly. It makes no sense.
