ParticipantSo, I watched this interview today. (At least I think it was this one!) It’s from last week at WonderCon, but I just now saw it. The transcript is not the same as the interview… there is a question about Michael Sochi, ten-ish minutes in, I think, and one of the interviewers thinks they’re asking about MRJ. Eddy trots out the same answer they’ve been giving, that Neal “will live on in our hearts and flashbacks,” except, instead of Neal, he says MRJ. I do not like that answer. It is the first time the answer has been given that I haven’t been able to call semantics, and it makes me really sad. 🙁
They had to refer to MRJ because the original confusion was about Michael Socha. I hate the flippant way they talk about Neal being gone. Part of me wants to rage about their blase attitude, and part of me thinks it’s more evidence that he’s not really gone for good.
I like to think of LOVE Day being the start of a new age of shipping. Therefore, I am announcing that I will be a regular here! 😀
YAY, welcome to the madness! 🙂
Alright, I must ask everyone: if Neal was resurrected, how would you all feel?
I will feel relieved, because no matter how convoluted they made his return, at least the balance would have been restored, along with the heart and hope of the show, and my faith that they’re NOT taking 2.5 seasons worth of complex story and flushing it down the drain. It would show that they do actually care about where their story will ultimately end up, and they’re not gonna compromise that ending. I will still forever hate that they killed him off in the first place, I will forever hate their pathetic attempts at explaining why it was a natural progression of the story, I will forever hate how they made hi act so OOC, but I’ll be able to say, “OK, so 3B was just a whole stinking herd of rabid rogue bison de-railing the train, but the destination WAS always an SF reunion after all, and now the train is back on track.” And if my faith is restored that they’re ultimately sticking with their original plan for the story, then a fair bit of my faith in the show as a whole and the message it claims to portray will have been restored, which means I’ll be able to happily watch S4, which would be lovely to be able to do.

ParticipantWhat doesn’t make any sense to me with this theory is that Hook left before the curse was cast, so how could he cast the curse and then go off and get to our world very quickly? He’d have to escape VERY quickly before everyone was taken back to Storybrooke.
We don’t even know for sure that he DIDN’T go to SB with everyone else first, before going to NYC. But even if he didn’t, if he just landed in NYC, with Emma’s address, how could that happen? It could happen if he’d cast the Curse for the purpose of getting back to Emma. As far as we know, Zelena’s the only one who knew where Emma was (right down to her address) because of Walsh. She could have quite easily used that information to convince Hook to cast the Curse. Him being brought to our world with the Curse makes more sense than him coming separately somehow IMO.
And again, who’s heart would he sacrifice?
A couple of us have already explained at length why he could likely use the JR, so I’m not gonna repeat myself.

ParticipantMy impression was that it was about vengeance rather than a simple trade. Also, just then Snow didn’t have anything balancing her out–she’d erased the effect (protection perhaps) of love in her heart, and it was clearly affecting all her interactions with everyone. That perhaps amplified the risk of her killing Regina out of vengeance.
Agreed with that. It was the path that killing Regina would have set Snow on that would have led to her becoming just as dark, especially in her current, loveless state.
Also, Cora’s heart was never actually darkened much because it wasn’t in her body when she did most of her worst deeds.
I’ll have to go back to compare properly, but I thought in the scene where Zelena had Regina’s heart, it looked redder than when she left it with Robin, as though it was continuing to lighten up, even though it wasn’t inside her at the time. If so, then Cora’s heart still should have been plenty dark, even though it wasn’t inside her. Perhaps Cora’s heart didn’t darken because it was born corrupt, so none of her deeds actually changed its nature,

ParticipantWe’ll, if Zelena cast the curse, maybe she needed somebody to forget something in particular.
She needed everyone to forget that she was after the Snowflake, so she could get close to it. In FTL that baby would be guarded, because they knew she wanted it, but in SB she’d be able to waltz right in and just take it, because they were clueless.
But she didn’t cast the Curse, she used someone else to do it. She couldn’t have coerced any of Snowing & Co to do it, but offering Hook a way to get back to Emma would work a treat. He wasn’t with the rest, so didn’t even know about the baby, so had no idea that Zelena was up to trying to harm them until it was too late, all he knew is he could get back to Emma by casting the Curse. He’d get to be with her, he’d heroically reunite her with her family, it was the perfect plan. Until he landed in SB, realised he was the only one with memories apart from Zelena and that she was up to no good, which brings us to, “Your family is in danger,” at Emma’s door.

ParticipantThat’s possible, Keb. If this is around the time of the Curse, the Philora baby should have been born already.
Between, “Let’s see if this was all worth it,” and “Don’t forget to eat well,” I have to wonder if she’s been slipping something into Snow’s food/water source that’s had an effect on the baby.

ParticipantAdam sent a tweet implying that MRJ had been in town to shoot pickups for a previous episode, as opposed to shooting something for 319.
And I would think that if Neal didn’t have a heart in his body, he’d have died a whole lot quicker than he did. He should have dropped dead the instant they were separated, not hung around long enough to get out some final words, so I dunno that I buy Rumple sacrificing Neal’s heart as a believable option.

ParticipantThat 319 Sneak Peek is keeping my suspicions up about Hook, because I wonder if they might parallel the present day Zelena/Rumple/Hook scene with a flashback Zelena/Rumple/Hook scene. In both scenes they could have Zelena telling Hook to do her bidding and in the flashback he agrees, but in present day he’s realising he shouldn’t have. It’d match perfectly to how they structured his flashback/present day stuff with Ariel, same plot point playing out in both times.

ParticipantI think her going after Snow to use her specifically could have been a case of her having no choice, because seance rules say the murderer is a necessary tool to use in the process.
But also, if Cora showed Regina the history, it’d be up to Regina to tell Snow why Cora hated Eva, and considering what Cora knows about Snow and Regina’s relationship, she’d probably figure that Snow wouldn’t necessarily believe Regina. So Snow had to see it with her own inner eyes.
It was odd that they had Cora fling Regina out of the way so violently though, considering there should have been actual love there now. I get that Cora was frustrated, but really?
