ParticipantShe’s such a lovely human. If A and E screw this up for her…..
…Then I’ll be by your side at the head of the lynch mob going to visit A&E, singing all the way…
I’m happy that she’s happy to be fulfilling a dream by getting to play this role. I just hope *twitch* she fares better than others on this show have. The fact that she’s SO excited about it makes me even more worried that they’ll screw up the character and she’ll end up disappointed.

ParticipantIdk if its just me but there is something about his voice that I don’t like. I mean he looks promising, and I’m sure the actor is great, but when he talked it wasn’t what I was expecting.
It’s hard to tell because he only sorta mumbled a few words, but it sounds like he might just be using his usual Aussie accent?
And honestly, I can take the recast of Jafar….but I’m still questioning why they had to recast the stick. I know its such a petty thing to think about. Like, I know his old one isn’t a stick anymore, but I think I liked the design on that one better. But then again, this one looks thicker and heavier, so I guess I like it. Depending on where this takes place in the timeline, it will only make sense if the staff looks different after the events of WL (which means he got a new one). If its before…I guess Amara had a makeover.
The stick re-cast is bugging me too. For those who didn’t watch WL, the snake staff is actually Amara, who took in Jafar when he was an orphan and she’s the one who taught him magic. Eventually he turned on her, turned her into a snake, and the snake became his staff. So basically, his staff is magical because there’s a sorceress named Amara trapped in it. But eventually she gets freed from it. So if he’s now waving around a different magical snake staff, that just feels rather retcon-ish.

Participant*grumble* Wonderland was amazing *grumble* Better than S3B of OUAT *grumble* or S4-5A *grumble* Probably better than 5B is I’m being honest *grumble*
*grumble*
The conspiracy theorist in me wants to say that that’s why they haven’t released it on DVD or anything, they don’t want it showing up the main show if more people end up watching it. 😛
The re-cast bums me out, because Naveen isn’t just some random actor who can be easily cast aside and replaced. I’ve been re-watching some LOST recently so am all hopped up on being reminded of Naveen’s wonderfulness from when I first saw him in anything, and re-casting him feels a tad disrespectful. And it’s not like Jafar was a bit part or anything, he’s a very well established character, and this isn’t a soap opera where you can re-cast someone significant and have it be no big deal.
That being said, I dont hate Oded, and judging by this first clip he’s looking like he’ll be a pretty great Jafar. It’s just…WE ALREADY HAD A REALLY GREAT JAFAR. *sigh*

ParticipantHope *twitch* they get the gender of her kid right this time.
Seriously though, first Archie’s back, and now Cinderella too? And they’re gonna address something that was setup and then abandoned way back in the 4th episode of the show? What is going on?! Not that I’m getting my hopes *twitch* up, but it’s ever so slightly encouraging that they’re bothering to bring back a couple of the original characters that helped to build the foundation of the show.

ParticipantI reckon that’s the blimp/airship that we glimpsed in The Land of Untold Stories. It’s the right size and shape and appears to have a ledge surrounding it. Also, that white material on top and in the trees could be remnants of its balloon.
Could well be, nicely spotted!

ParticipantThis is the second Brit actor from Day 9 of 24 to be recruited by Once. I’d been a bit excited when I recognised King Arthur from 24, then I ended up being a bit bummed for Liam Garrigan having gotten roped into playing a part that the writers kinda wrecked. Here’s hoping *twitch* Giles fares a bit better.
*sits back and waits to see who from 24 Day 9 they nab next (you just know they’d love to get Michelle Fairley)*

ParticipantHe’s not famous enough, IMO, for Adam to just follow without there being an OUAT connection…so yeah I think @kranen is right.
Maybe Adam is a Silicon valley fan. That show is great and he is on it.
First of all…if anyone hasn’t seen Silicon Valley you NEED to check it out because OMG that show is hilarious and brilliant and just do yourself a favour and watch it, (unless excessive expletives offend you, because there’s a lot of that)!
Secondly…knowing this guy from his character in Silicon Valley, I could NOT imagine him playing a role like Aladdin, so please no.

ParticipantYes, Robin’s role was reduced, writing for his character had become questionable, but that doesn’t change the fact that he was put on the show to create hope and be a symbol of second chances, something that’s everything to a lot of people. And that’s what died on Sunday.
It didn’t die on Sunday, it died back when they did the same thing with Neal. Unfortunately the way they treated Robin and everything he represented isn’t a new thing, it’s a continuing trend, and it’s really quite depressing.

ParticipantIronically, it’s the ones who have been killed or cut that have avoided the worst character assassination. I’d be very surprised if at least three of the regulars (RC, GG, JMo) do not have a strained relationship with A&E by this point.
Whenever I think about how JMo talked about going to the library to specifically look up stories about dark characters, so that she could better portray the Dark Swan, I wonder how she feels that all that research on her part was basically wasted. I’d be pretty peeved at the writers if it were me, because for her to go to all that trouble, A&E must have told her that they had something super big and super dark in store for her to play around with. But then she got to play with pretty much none of it. If even someone on JMo’s level may well have this sort of disconnect with the writers in regards to their character, then just imagine what it’s like to be someone like Sean who’s lower on the food chain.
Sean M. basically just said what I think MRJ probably felt but never really said.
I don’t think it’s coincidence that the two actors who have come out and aired their disappointment with how their characters were treated are Brits. The culture is different enough that they’re not gonna spend time trying to be overly PC, or polite, or kiss anyone’s rear end, the way Americans might. That’s not to say that I find people like MRJ to be disingenuous, (because I love the everloving crap outta that guy and consider him and his generous heart to be a gift to humanity), but culturally speaking, there’s a certain air of pretention (for want of a better word) that’s sort of expected, and Brits just don’t have that same filter. Good on Sean for telling it like it is!

ParticipantOne other reason I can see for them killing off Robin is that I can see that it would have been a struggle for him to make peace with Zelena and to share their daughter fully with her. While this reaction from him is more than understandable given not only baby Robin’s conception, but Zelena’s actions aftwards, it would have created such a tension filled family environment that portraying it would have been complex, especially with the new loving bond between Regina and Zelena.
But ya know what, that could have actually been some compelling stuff for the writers to delve into, if they actually gave a damn about delving into their characters any more. It could have fueled character growth and provided plot points for a whole season, if the writers could have actually been bothered to explore these complicated realtionships in any sort of believable way. But nope, they just saw Robin’s legitimate issues as an obstacle to other things they wanted to fast forward to without properly dealing with implications. So they just had him vapourised out of existence.
I feel bad for Sean. Just like I’ve felt bad for several actors and actresses that have come before him on this show. They take the time and effort to build up these characters through their portrayal as best they can with what little material they’re given, and then all their work just gets tossed in the trash.
