ParticipantWell, I’m siding with slurpeez, Heather and Schmacky on this one. The other day when the rumours about someone being unhappy came out, my first thought was Colin being disillusioned over how he didn’t get to play iconic Hook vs Pan stuff, which I’m sure he’d been expecting when he knew they were headed to NL. He was also really excited pre-season to get to act with MRJ and explore their characters’ relationship, and that didn’t exactly end up happening. So if he wanted out of a disatisfying role, with the added bonus of being able to take his newborn home to Ireland to be near their family, (like I said in the other thread, Christmas might have brought it home for them how much their family are missing out on with the baby growing up fast), I could see him maybe asking to leave, if his death hadn’t been written from the getgo, (which it may well have been).
All the Hook promo would make more sense if they’re building up to his death. Give him a heroic send off, like his promo poster suggest.
I don’t like that they’d use a character death to shut down the triangle, (it’d feel like a cop out), but as far as the wider scope of the show goes, there’s more logic to Hook dying than Neal. There’s so much more they can do with Neal, to build on what they’ve already shown of him. He’s their own creation. He’s Henry’s dad. He’s Rumple’s son. He’s (arguably) Emma’s true love. I just can’t see Kitswitz saying, “Well it sucks to lose you, but OK,” if MRJ wanted out, (which I honestly don’t think he would, we’ve seen how he speaks about the character, we know how he loves the cast), I really think they’d do whatever necessary to keep Neal in the story. So, yeah, basically, I’m not really worried that Neal’s dying and will be pretty shocked if he does.

ParticipantThe general opinion seems to be that it can’t be Hook due in large part to the fact he moved his family across the world. Am I the only one who actually thinks that fact could be a reason he would want off the show? If they went home to Ireland for Christmas, and saw all their family properly for the first time since the baby was born, it may have hit home that everyone over there is missing out on seeing the kid’s start in life, and so Colin and Helen may well want to move back there for family reasons.
Maybe the buzz created from Once has meant he’s had an offer to be the lead in a new show back in/near his homeland, which means he could have both work and family.
I know we don’t know how much stock to put in the rumour that the person was unhappy, but honestly, when I first read those tweets the other day, Colin was the first person who came to mind, because if you’re playing Captain Hook, and during the NL arc of the story you only get ONE really intense scene with Peter Pan…that’s gotta be disappointing. If I’d been in Colin’s shoes, I’d have been expecting a whole lot more when I knew that the show was going to the land that my character is associated with. Spoilers that came out yesterday implied that they’re done with NL. If that’s really the case, and if Colin is aware of that, then he knows he’s not gonna get to portray Captain Hook in his NL heyday, interacting with Pan. And frankly, that would have to be a huge disappointment for him. You sign up to play Captain Hook, you expect that you’re gonna get to portray some kickarse stuff in NL with Pan. Maybe Kitswitz said they’re done with NL because Hook won’t be around much longer, so there’ll be no opportunity to go back and tell the NL story.
It would be incredibly sad if the “unhappy” rumour was about MRJ and the fandom hate. Honestly though, I think he’s the sorta guy who wouldn’t let a small faction of the fandom beat him down.
and what better way to stop the shipping wars by killing off either CS or SF.
Actually I think that would be the worst way for them to resolve it. Killing either of the guys off would be sort of a cop out.

ParticipantWonder if the ruby slippers are hidden at the old farm somewhere?
If we knew for sure that Gorham was filming right now, I’d be just about ready to bet all my cookies on him being Dorothy’s son, (Henry, named after her uncle).
Phee
ParticipantHere’s what the farm looked like in the movie…

Hmmmm! I wonder if Jennifer Morrison is filming with Chris Gorham?
Dunno that he’s on set? Was thinking he might be in 316 (judging by his recent tweet to Adam) but they’re not shooting that yet, are they? But even if the Gale farm is in 315, and then Gorham’s in 316, there could be a connection. (Probably my fave theory on him is that he’s a descendant of Uncle Henry and Aunt Em.)
ETA: OK they have apparently been shooting 316 for at least a few days now…

ParticipantThe old, abandoned, Gale family farm?

ParticipantFriendly reminder: Emma and Neal saying they love each other is canon.
Extra friendly reminder: They have said it to each other multiple times.Phee
ParticipantExactly. And what do you with Captain Hook if you’re totally cutting NL out of the equation? It means that Colin/Hook wouldn’t have centrics. They can’t really do anything in the EF besides his escapades as a pirate–which only works for about one episode before it gets repetitive. He spent 300 YEARS (YEARS!!!!) in NL with Pan. It’s a classic arch enemy story and we’re not going to get any of it?
Exactly. Guess I’ll still hold onto some hope that there WILL be NL flashbacks at some point. I mean, surely they didn’t just drop the whole conversation between Hook and Pan, (who obviously knew each other well, and they had the big reveal that Hook used to work for him) in there for no reason. Surely that’s something they intend to build on in the future. Surely? Hopefully?
Phee
ParticipantNeverland, absolutely. We will definitely glimpse Storybrooke.
Does that mean that any Hook flashbacks will be before NL??? But…there is so many unanswered questions
That answer bummed me out. Is there a chance he thought they were asking specifically about present day NL in the rest of this season? They can’t just drop the ball on all that NL history, SURELY? *sigh*
Phee
ParticipantAh, nicely spotted. Guess it’s a fake then, huh.

ParticipantI’m wondering who Kitsis is referring to when he says “and some of the people we met in the first half of the season”. Peter Pan? The Darlings?
Aren’t many other people he could be referring to, and I’d expect to see at least Pan if there’s a Hook or Tink centric in S3B. Guess Liam could come back if a Hook centric flashes back to pre-Good Form, (or maybe Liam’s undead, Davy Jones style, just give us a freaking Davy Jones connection already). If Ariel’s coming back, then Eric’s a given.
