ParticipantWhat did the good people of Oz do to deserve being subjected to Zelena again?
And is Regina really dumb enough to think that Zelena won’t just find her way back? The only way to protect that baby is to lock Zelena up and throw away the key.

ParticipantNo but seriously. What happened to the kid??
He too became a sailor, and rowed a boat to Forgotten Character Island.
The sleeping curse explanation was pretty out there and just plain odd.
It was ridiculous. Father and son just so happened to both end up in situations that allowed them to live for over a century. And apaprently you can completely fall in love with a stranger while you’re comatose and unable to even interact with them. Well alrighty then.
They could have kinda, sorta, maybe made it a bit less ridiculous if when he fell down dead, Regina *poofed* in and *poofed* PapaJones into actually being one of her guards under a cloaking spell to trick Hook. It even would have tied in to present day where Hook cloaked himself as Henry to trick Emma.

ParticipantI think Hook will end up as the next Charon, not exactly free from the underworld but not exactly a prisoner. This show has got to do Pirates of the Caribbean sometime.
Well they squandered the opportunity to make him related to Davy Jones, (seriously why did they even name their pirate JONES if they didn’t have a plan to attach him to Davy Jones somehow, the fandom have been expecting it pretty much since the day Hook showed up) so I guess that would be the next best thing?

ParticipantConsidering that almost everything in this ep falls somewhere on a scale from “nonsense” to “offensive” and all points in between…I’m not even really sure where to start listing all the things wrong with it. *sigh*
(This was overheard in the writers’ room and picked up as an actual line. :P)
Oh we could make a list of these! How about, “I wasn’t trying to replace him, I was trying to honour him,” in response to outrage over a BABY NAME STEALER because, “Was he really that easy to replace?” I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry that it was Hook who was the outraged one.
*skips off to flip some tables*

ParticipantAs infuriating as the t-word issues (WHICH DIDN’T HAVE TO BE AN ISSUE OMG WHY DID THEY GO AND CREATE THIS ISSUE URGH) are, something else that’s annoying me is that Hook’s standing out in the middle of the open with a wine goblet. There’s no bottle, (even though he says he’d have had another, so what was he hoping to pour that extra drink out of I wonder), he’s just randomly standing around in the middle of nowhere with a freaking goblet of wine. I know this is nitpicky, but it just looks SO out of place, and doesn’t the guy have a flask he’d more realistically be drinking out of instead?

ParticipantIn a Fairy Tale Land flashback, the Evil Queen tests Hook’s mettle by forcing him to confront a demon from his past before contracting him to dispatch one from hers,
Perhaps this is just my wishful thinking because I’d rather they not try to shoehorn in a flashback scene that’ll feel like a timeline retcon. But that sort of sounds like Regina did the thing before he ever came to her castle to find Belle. It’d fit better IMO if Regina had been spying on him beforehand because she’d set him this “test” and that’s why she’d known he was heading for her castle, which is why she appeared to him at that particular moment.
Could even help explain Hook being so riled up in that moment when he went to Belle, if he’s just been dealing with his father who he hates. Could even explain how Hook even knew to go look for Belle in Regina’s castle, if Regina herself had dropped the info in some way as part of the test.
Like, after she’d seen that he’s fine with getting violent with a parent who mistreated you, she lured him to her castle by magically dropping some info about Belle, so she could snag him for the Cora gig.

ParticipantThe Bear and his former minder are well aware of the title of “Galavant’s” Season 2 premiere. Thank you for repeatedly pointing it out.

ParticipantOut of curiosity, do we KNOW she’s being written out, or is this speculation based on her pregnancy announcement? There are a million ways of writing the pregnancy into the story — if there’s a will, there’s a way, especially with something as crackfic-y as OUAT, and as you yourself said, there are also perfectly reasonable in-story explanations. But of course, it could also be Emilie’s decision, and all sorts of things might be going on for her personally that have nothing to do with OUAT itself, and that make her want to take a break. If so, then the more power to her. I’m just curious if we actually know that she’s taking time off or not.
We’re just assuming, really. There were pics from set of a scene where Belle’s with her father, and I think she was loading a suitcase into a car or something like that? Implying that she’s packing up to go live with her father for a while, which implies she won’t be on screen.
When Emilie’s pregnancy was announced I had to wonder how they were gonna disguise it, considering what a horrible job they did with disguising Ginny’s, and Belle has a certain style when it comes to fashion that they’d have to alter significantly. Can you imagine Belle getting around looking like Snow did in all those frumpy clothes in a poor attempt to cover up the bump? She’d look terribly OOC, so I’m almost relieved that it seems they’re not gonna attempt it.
Emilie’s still getting paid even if she’s not on screen, so while I’m sure that overall (not just in this one instance) her amount of screentime is disappointing from the point of view of her wanting to actually get to act on a regular basis, it’s not like she isn’t being compensated for her role as part of the cast. They’re not cutting her off just because her character’s not on screen for a while. Maybe Eric (her babydaddy) has work commitments in LA, and they don’t want to be spending time apart during the pregnancy? Maybe she’ll want to come home to Australia at some point during the pregnancy to see her family? I seriously doubt that the OUAT powers that be would have just said, “OK, welp, we’ll write you out for a bit,” without discussing the options of how to accomodate her and what her preference was.

ParticipantCrossing Guard Milah? …kay
Her worst crime in life was being a horrible, neglectful mother, who abandoned her young child. So her own personal hell in the afterlife is an eternity of having to protect a whole bunch of children. Or something?
But Milah meets Emma?? Omg. If Emma doesn’t learn that Hook’s Milah (tattooed on him) is Neal’s mother, Imma need a strong tranq dart.
Ya see, this is what I meant when I said in my last post how there are certain interactions I don’t wanna get my hopes *twitch* up about. If there isn’t an appropriate reaction from Emma upon meeting the mother of her ex, who is the ex of her current boyfriend, then I’m gonna flip a table. If Emma actually learns about the type of person Milah is, a person who gleefully abandoned her child, that should give her some pause, because Hook was a part of how that all went down, and he loved Milah, who gives a crap about the kid. These are things that Emma should react to…if she were written to be in character…but…yeah…not gonna hold my breath.
