So, I was away this time last week, on a Flarrowy fangirl adventure, and have been floating along in my happy Flarrow fandom bubble, and as such hadn’t gotten around to catching up on my other shows yet, so I just watched the last TWO eps of Murder one right after the other, even though just one ep at a time usually does my head in, and so right now I’m just sitting here all:

    O_____________O

    SO MANY LIES.
    SO MUCH BETRAYAL.
    I AM OVERWHELMED.

Just watched the sneak peek where Emma has all that flypaper for nightmares hanging in her window, and now I wanna curl up and die. *SIGH*

Well, human Emma does know that Dreamcatchers are supposed to catch all the bad dreams and only let the light in….so that could be her strategy. It’s not a hobby but a way to try and keep the darkness at bay.

(and it’s overtly baiting the other ship that hasn’t gotten any bait yet this season)

    Quote

They’re “flypaper for nightmares” and she’s living a nightmare 24/7 at the moment.

*gobbles up bait then curls up in the corner to sob forever*

Would that I could say that I’m surprised. But this is the show that accidentally gender swapped a baby, so…

I think it’ll end up having something to do with Rumple sacrificing himself. Let’s not forget that in this ep we also had Arthur coaxing that Griff guy into committing suicide by promising that he’ll be a hero in doing so. Rumple’s a coward again now. Rumple ran away from a situation that pretty much guaranteed getting killed when he fled the war. Emma’s gonna convince him that he can finally be a brave hero by dying.

So here is a major plot hole. To do the healing spell, Belle said, “I need an object that touched him as a man. Before he became the Dark one.” She can’t find anything in the place. But she does know an object! Bae’s baby shawl. She knows that Rumple kept it from when Bae was a baby and he even used it to leave town to find his son. There is also his ball on the shelf and his spinning wheel.

But can’t have Belle actually waking him up. Have to have Emma use Hook’s sword to do the job. Heck, even Emma knew about the shawl, too.

God forbid they acknowledge that one guy who died that time. Not even a, “I don’t know what happened to Bae’s shawl, if only I could find it, it’d work perfectly.” If they’d established that not even Belle knew where it was, I could even fanwank that it wasn’t an option for Emma either, because maybe she couldn’t just conjure up an object that no one knows the whereabouts of. Then they could have still gone off on their sword tangent, without having this glaring hole. *SIGH*

I hope it’s the legit Lancelot, it’s nice to finally see him alive!

I just really want to know, is thos A&E coming up with what they think is a good romance or are they actually aware of what they are doing????

Yeah, no, alas they are oblivious, they just think they’re writing an epic love story, or something.

I almost thought I’d mis-heard the line about how he liked breaking down her walls, because surely the writers couldn’t be THAT stupid to have him say that? The fact that Jane is the one who wrote this ep makes it even more perplexing and disheartening that that line ever existed!

It’s too bad that Arthur is a little word-I-can’t-say-on-this-forum, because if he were genuine, they could have a really great friendship. I liked them bonding over peasant origins, and wife talk, it was nice to see Charming have someone he could really relate to, it made him a lot more interesting than he usually is.

I’m ruling out Felicity based on the Barry factor. There is NO WAY Barry would miss her funeral, and there is NO WAY he’d show up for 5 seconds at her grave and then just leave, all without looking like he’s gonna shed a single tear. NO. WAY. Barry Allen is a guy who expresses when he’s sad, and Felicity’s death would break his heart, but I got the feeling he didn’t have a deep connection to the dead person.

My first thought had been Digg, that he and Oliver will make up fully, then Digg will die.

Now I’m leaning more towards Lance. He’s one of Darhk’s minions now, and I have this image of Damien doing that thing and sucking the life out of Lance when he tries to turn on him. Oliver’s words about responsibility for bad things happening would be fitting if he’s thinking about things Lance had said to him when he was alive.

I’m thinking that it’s the mother of Ollie’s child.

(The neighbours’ talk about kids seemed like a big “Chekhov’s gun” for this season.)

    Quote

I have wondered if it could be her, or even perhaps the kid (though it looked like an adult sized grave).

There were pics from set a few days ago of Stephen shooting with whatshername who plays the babymama, and there was a kid there too.

I think what they did with Jerome ended up being a clever way to incorporate the spirit of Joker into the universe of the show.

Personally I’d have been fine with it if they’d recaptured him and thrown him back in Arkham, leaving us to believe that Jerome stews away in there and does indeed become Joker some day. But I know that many comic fans straight up hated the idea of Joker being given an origin story, because a big point of the character is that he doesn’t have an origin story, he just IS. Even if people enjoyed Cameron’s performance as Jerome, they would still not love the aspect of it that was giving Joker an origin story.

So the way they did it, they got to play with a Joker-esque character, they got to have that element of crazy in the show’s universe, (and seriously a show about Gotham would have felt incomplete if they never touched on Joker at all), but in the end, we still don’t know who Joker really is, he’s still a mythical enigma, as he’s always been. It’s like they got the best of both worlds IMO.

We know he’s someone who will be inspired by Jerome, but he’ll be smarter, he’ll make sure he’s always in charge, so no one gets the better of him, the way Theo got Jerome, (and yes it was obviously a part of Theo’s plan all along to kill Jerome, setting him up to be a vicious threat, then taking him out in a very public way, thus endearing himself to the people of Gotham, making it easier for him to take the whole place over). So as scary, and unhinged, and bold, and crafty as Jerome was, we’re left with the knowledge that someone out there will be next level, someone out there will some day be WORSE. And I’m sure we’ll never actually see that person, but knowing they’re lurking out there somewhere makes the idea of him plenty foreboding, (it’s often just the idea of something you can’t see that’s scarier than seeing the actual thing).
