Dug up the lightening rounds and this was from number 9…

Will we see flashbacks into Emma’s (Jennifer Morrison) life in the foster care system?
    Horowitz and Kitsis: Maybe.

Considering they just announced Whoopi being on, it sounds like ABC are willing to throw some money at it at least long enough for the story to play out. What would reflect more poorly on the parent show: having a spinoff that lags in ratings, or having a spinoff that gets axed?

It would just seem so weird to not have any Emma flashbacks in the first 11, considering the first 11 are largely about her personal journey. There’d be no reason for the red jacket to be in NL. I doubt they’re back in SB yet. So flashback is really the only thing that fits?

I had predicted some time ago that 310 would be Emma centric but didn’t they say somewhere that there would be no Emma backstory this half of the season?

I think that was a JMo interview where she said that up to the point they were shooting at the time, they hadn’t done any more of Emma’s backstory.

JMo tweeted that she had a long day of shooting and it involved red leather. That leads me to think that 310 could possibly be Emma centric, and we’ll get flashbacks of her in the jacket. And I felt the need to post this in the SF thread because for a while now I’ve been thinking the reason she even has that red leather jacket is because of this jacket:

And so if we’re gonna maybe flashback to when she got her red jacket because it reminded her of Neal’s red jacket, this could potentially bode well for SFish stuff happening in present day. And if they release the name of the ep and it’s named after a city, I will absolutely flail because Tallahassee and Manhattan.

JoAnna hasn’t tweeted anything about Vancouver yet, but you’d think if Eric’s gonna be filming, Ariel will be too.

Unless Ariel isn’t in the story.

We don’t really know how Ariel and Eric’s story is gonna play out, but it would be strange to have an ep that had him in it, but not her, because the characters are linked. Without her story, we wouldn’t even have him as a character at all. They’ve said that Ariel’s story will be focusing mainly on her, so it’s unlikely they’d have Eric in an ep without any Ariel. If he’s alive in present day SB, which is where Ariel now is, there will most definitely be scenes involving them both. The other possibility is that he’s in FTL still, but even in that case, I’d expect to see Ariel looking for him in SB.

Smart money is on the jacket! Does this mean they’re….back in SB?

Doubt they’re back in SB. They’ve said the first 11 will focus on NL, so I think they’ll still be there until mid-season break. I think the red jacket might suggest Emma flashbacks. 310 or 311 would be perfect for an Emma centric, because the NL journey is so much about a personal journey for her, and 310/311 will be a culmination of that.

The most interesting thing about the latest ep of WL was IMO the stuff with Robin, because it gave us some more insight into his character, which can get us thinking about how he might interact with Regina. Thought I’d type up some of his dialogue…

Robin: Not a thief. People call us that, but that’s not what we are.
    Will: What are we?
Robin: We help those in need. A thief only steals for himself.
Will: Right. And that’s not us?
Robin: We have a cause that’s bigger than any of our own needs. And that cause is humanity. When you steal for personal gain, the first thing you lose is yourself.

Robin: No. That is Maleficent’s castle.
    Will: Yes, I’m aware.
Robin: She’s a sorceress, Will. The one thing we do not mess about with is magic. It’s dangerous, no matter how valuable it is, or how much wealth it can bring you, it’s never worth the consequences.

Robin: What was so important you’d go after magic? Was it debt? A sick parent? A woman? It was a woman, wasn’t it.
    Will: I’ve got my reasons.
Robin: Well whatever they are they’re not good enough. You made a bad mistake last night, and it will haunt you.
Will: What you gonna do to me?
    Robin: Worst thing possible. Nothing.
Will: You’re gonna let me go?
Robin: Yes. You will meet the fate you’ve earned. A fate you deserve.
Will: That’s rich coming from the Prince of thieves himself.
Robin: Today you’ve shown yourself to be the only thief among us.
Will: Because I’m stealing for myself and not living by your code? Well I’ve gotten along just fine living by my code, thank you very much.
Robin: Well for your sake, I hope your luck continues. But my experience tells me different.

So, things this tells us about Robin Hood.

There was a time when he was very anti using magic. Then there came a time when he used it to save the life of his sick wife and their unborn child, so obviously his attitude towards it changed, and he realised that desperate times will drive a person to do something they never thought they would, in particular where magic is concerned. That makes me think of Regina being anti magic in her younger days, until she caved and used it to free herself of her mother, (and alas for Regina, it sorta snowballed from there).

Robin believes in being selfless, in using your skills to help as many people as possible, because when you’re selfish and use your skills for personal gain, it just causes you to “lose yourself”. Exhibit A: Regina “Evil Queen” Mills.

Robin believes in karma, and in letting people who have earned bad karma have it catch up to them. Regina’s got a whole hot mess of bad karma, and she’s been paying for it. I don’t think he’d tolerate any “woe is me, they all call me evil but I’m really not” stuff from her. He’d call her out and ensure she accepts responsibility for her actions. I think she’s already starting to accept that she really has done some bad things to people, like the whole situation with Tink, and Regina trying to exclude herself from the group because she’s aware that the consequences of her past actions would affect the whole Operation. When Emma asked what she’d done to Tink, Regina was all, “What I always do,” so she’s owning up to the fact that she has in fact been rather horrible to multiple people. Anyway, I think that Robin’s belief is karma would make him see that she has suffered as a result of her actions, which could allow him to see a more vulnerable side of her, compared to everyone else who just sees the EQ.

The one where they’re walking along the path through the fields with all the funny shaped trees. It all looks so completely fake.

Was listening to the Once Upon A Fan podcast and someone on there suggested something which I don’t think I’ve seen discussed on the forums, (apologies if it has been and I missed it). She said she thinks Pan is full of crap and wasn’t actually playing the music for Henry the first time, which is why he couldn’t hear anything. So I thought about it a bit, and we know that only boys who feel lost are supposed to hear it, but Henry doesn’t know that.

Henry: Sorry, I don’t hear anything.
Pan: Interesting. You see, this pipe’s enchanted, Henry. It can only be heard by certain children.
    Henry: Like who?
Pan: You’ll find out soon enough. I promise.

As far as Henry knows, it’s a good thing to be able to hear the music. It makes you awesome and special if you can hear the music. So maybe Pan faked him out that first time by not actually playing at all, and then set him up to want to be able to hear it, and then the second time he did actually play it, and Henry heard it and was all, “WOOT, I’m one of the cool peeps who can hear the song now, I totally rule, gotta dance.” That would mean that Pan has won Henry over without having to weaken his belief at all. Pan didn’t have to convince Henry to lose belief in his family, he just gave him something new to believe in as well. And now that he’s got the kid on the hook, he can reel him in without Henry even realising what’s being done to him.
