If someone ends up reading that star map, and they utter the words, “Phoenix constellation” I swear I’ll fall outta my chair and flail on the floor!

There are MANY plants that are believed to have healing properties, but given the type of show we’re talking about here, there’s every chance it could be the flower from Tangled. If they do get around to doing Rapunzel some day, I doubt they’d copy the movie much, because it’s so recent, so having this plant in this storyline be the flower could be a nice little nod to the movie.

Went to read up a bit on Felix Mendelssohn and ended up with a bit of a crackpot theory, (as you do).

The Overture in E major, Op. 21, was written by Mendelssohn at 17 years and 6 months old (it was finished on 6 August 1826), and George Grove called it “the greatest marvel of early maturity that the world has ever seen in music”. It was written as a concert overture, not associated with any performance of the play. The Overture was written after Mendelssohn had read a German translation of the play in 1826.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Midsummer_Night%27s_Dream_%28Mendelssohn%29

Then I went and looked up the Overture to see what it sounds like.

Now I confess that I know nothing about composing, and can’t pick what notes are what just by listening to them, so I can’t say if any actual notes are matchy matchy. All I can say is that the Overture starts with 4 slow notes before picking up the pace, and if you go to the scene with Rumple sitting on the roof, waiting to hear the Piper’s song, it starts out the same way, 4 slow notes, then it starts to get quicker.

So…here comes the crackpot theory part…
17 year old Felix Mendelssohn wrote the Overture for A Midsummer Night’s Dream…
Age somewhere around late teens Felix Onceiverse wrote the Piper’s song, and that’s why he remains unaffected by it.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is basically a story of a bunch of people who are manipulated into acting a certain way due to fairy interference. There are elements of that in the storyline of Once, because we’ve seen magical beings, (Rumple, Pan, Sneaky Fairy), manipulating the actions of others. We know there’s a pic in Henry’s book of Titania and Oberon, (Fairy Queen and King), who are characters in A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream. So I know my little theory about Felix having written Pan’s song, based on Felix Mendelssohn writing the Overture seems like a bit of a stretch, but considering there are elements from that story in the show already, I figured I’d throw it out there, because maybe there is a connection, and it’s why they chose the name Felix for the character in the first place?

If so, it could suggest that our Felix is in a powerful position, if he’s the composer of the song/story that everyone falls in line and dances along with.

But amongst all the other questions, I want to know, how did Peter find Neverland??

I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if he made a wish on a blue star to go somewhere far away.

I looked up the name Felix and found that the composer Mendelsohn, who wrote the music for the play “A midsummer nihts dream” his first name is Felix.. perhabs its just a nod, perhabs its nothing, or perhabs they are gonna use that story more while on Neverland.

Interesting connection, because Pan sorta makes me think of Puck…

Puck, also known as Robin Goodfellow, is a character in William Shakespeare’s play A Midsummer Night’s Dream that was based on the ancient figure in English mythology, also called Puck.

Puck is a clever, mischievous elf or sprite that personifies the trickster or the wise knave. In the play, Shakespeare introduces Puck as the “shrewd and knavish sprite” and “that merry wanderer of the night” in some scenes it would seem that he is longing for freedom and he is also a jester to Oberon, the fairy king. Puck and Bottom are the only two characters who interact and progress the three central stories in the whole play; Puck is the one who is first introduced in the fairies’ story and creates the drama of the lovers’ story by messing up who loves whom, as well as by placing the ass on Bottom’s head in his story. Similarly, Bottom is performing in a play in his story intending it to be presented in the lovers’ story as well as interacting with Titania in the fairies’ story.

Clever, mischievous, shrewd, magical being. And I believe Pan’s in league with Blue, and Puck was league with fairies. And I believe Pan’s had a hand in orchestrating the hot mess that our characters got tangled up in, and Puck orchestrated the hot mess in the play.

The professional historian in me speaking here, keep in mind that the coat-of-arms traditionally reflects the reigning monarch. A succeeding monarch need not retain the coat-of-arms of his or her predecessor (although some have to present an air of legitimacy). Ex. Regina’s personal standard above the mantle in her palace chambers is a crown wreathed in laurels but Leopold’s coat-of-arms which is the symbol of that kingdom can be seen above the mantle in Eva’s chambers and on the surcoats of his soldiers when he arrives at Henry and Cora’s home to ask for Regina’s hand. Likewise with all the other soldiers of the various realms we’ve encountered.

Fair point about the coats-of-arms. I dunno what Regina’s was off the top of my head, I just know that the Charmings kept the same one that George had been using, (despite the fact that Charming never really considered himself to be part of George’s family).

Ethnicity in casting I’ve learned is not always a firm guarantee. The actress who played Marian is of Caucasian and African-American heritage and the boy who plays Roland is Hispanic.

I thought one of her parents was South American? *googles*

Christie grew up in White Rock B.C. and now resides in Vancouver. Her exotic looks come from her father (who is from Belize) and her British mother,

    http://www.thepromotionpeople.ca/clients/christie_laing.htm
Belize is Central America, so a Hispanic Roland is actually fitting. Maybe Marian is a member of Regina’s family? That would be a trip, if Robin still ended up with one of Regina’s relatives, if not Regina herself.

Remember that it was Rumple who told David about Excalibur

Was it though? I was under the impression that Rumple was all, “Nope, not helping,” and the Excalibur plan was something that Charming came up with all on his own. He told Snow it was something Rumple had told him about because, “Hey honey, I’ve had an idea,” wasn’t gonna work on her at that point.

Rumple: It’s true, your Prince came to ask for aid fighting the Queen. I told him I had nothing to give. And I didn’t.

If Charming had to come up with his own idea when Rumple refused to help, perhaps he recalled a story his father used to tell him about a magical sword in a stone, which his father knew about because he’s been one of Arthur’s Knights.

So I had a thought about the pics of Charming, and it made me all sad, so I wanted to make everyone else miserable too. 😛

If he and Hook are going off to search for the sextant, he may be thinking that depending on how long that takes, this could be the final time he ever sees his wife and daughter if the poison finishes him off while he’s off on this little mission. So when he’s kissing Snow, he’s probably thinking it could be the last time he ever kisses his wife. And when he’s hugging Emma, he’s probably thinking it could be the last time he ever holds his baby girl. And now I just wanna curl up in a corner and cry. 🙁
