ParticipantPREACH, Heather! Sometimes you’ve just gotta let it out.
Neal’s intention wasn’t evil at all
This is what really gets to me, that people who don’t like Neal so often seem to demonise him. There are plenty of characters on this show who have hurt people multiple times for selfish reasons, (Hook is one such character). Neal hurt Emma one time, and yes it hurt bad, but his motivation was selfless.
As a child, he left the only world he’d known in an attempt to save his father’s soul = selfless.
He gave himself up to the Shadow, going to another world he had no idea about, so neither of the Darling boys would get taken = selfless.
He finally got a taste of the happy ending he’d gone for centuries thinking was never gonna happen for him, and he gave it up so that she could find her family and save thousands of people in the process = selfless.
He has a pattern of self sacrifice that lands himself in a whole world of pain, and he knows it’s gonna hurt, but he does it anyway because he cares about the people involved, yet people think he’s worthy of hating. And meanwhile, the characters who have hurt people for selfish reasons get all sorts of sympathy and understanding and hope of redemption. I just…it does not compute in my head why people hate Neal, while still being able to see the good in other characters who have done things far worse than he has.

ParticipantRumple cut off his shadow with his dagger.
Pan has a dagger, and could have very well removed his own shadow in the same way.
Rumple can take hearts.
Who’s to say that Pan can’t take hearts too.I like the idea of Henry having to give up his heart willingly. The scene where Emma’s heart couldn’t be taken may well have been foreshadowing that Henry’s special brand of heart can’t just be taken against his will either.

ParticipantGuess whatever they do with it will in part depend on what expectations they had for its ratings. If they didn’t have crazy high expectations, maybe it still did OK in their book?
I agree that it would have always been better as a mid-Once-season replacement.

ParticipantT-word makes my head hurt.
Alice was about 20 when the Curse hit, and about 10 when she returned from WL the first time.
So if Grace was about 10 when the Curse hit, she had to have been born around the time that Alice came back from WL.
Which would mean that if RQ is Grace’s mother and Alice’s sister, there’s probably about a 10 year age gap between RQ and Alice.
The actresses playing Alice and RQ are less than a year apart in age. Though I guess RQ has magic, so could probably keep herself looking young if she really wanted to?

ParticipantGood to get some clarification that Lancelot isn’t necessarily dead. Sinqua Walls recently tweeted about being in Vancouver, didn’t he? Though he didn’t specify what he was there for.

ParticipantThey’re delivering baby Henry to SB, (not on their bikes, I’m just sayin’, they’re in the ep with the adoption)!

ParticipantSo I’m alone here. lol.
I think from a writing and marketing stand point, they have to play out the CS stuff to the satisfaction (semi-satisfaction) of the CSers, meaning that Emma and Hook have to be in a relationship for some length of time.
Gotta laugh, coz it’s wasn’t that long ago that I was the one who was sure they’d go all the way with CS, and others weren’t convinced. 😆
I also think this might be a possibility because I just can’t see what Hook’s future in Storybrooke is. I can’t see him wanting to settle down in a house and take a traditional job. What will his future be?
I doubt any of them will just be settling down happily in SB once the NL storyline is done. There’ll be more adventuring in store, and if he’s proved himself a worthy ally while in NL and forged a bond with Emma in particular, he’ll be recruited for the next adventure as well.
On a happier note, I thought everyone could do with a reminder of this: SwanFire/Lion King parallel
I’m not typically that big on parallels, but that one is too cute. 😉
My main problem with Hook dying is the same when people say they want Neal to die–the idea that obstacle can just be removed. It’s like saying “if Hook/Neal died, then Emma and Neal/Hook could be together no problem!” I don’t that. I want obstacles. I want obstacles that they overcome together that way it is proof to both the “yays” and the “nays” that they always find their way back to each other, through everything. That’s the romantic story for me. If we could just delete the obstacles without having to really face them then they aren’t really obstacles. They’re just annoyances.
THIS!
I just fear that Hook developing a strong, yet unrequited love, could make Hook sacrifice himself.
*switches pair of shipping goggles* Noooo, Hook experiencing unrequited love would just be foreshadowing for him ending up with the mermaid who has also been on the wrong end of unrequited love. 😉

ParticipantI like how in interviews, MRJ sometimes slips into using “I” instead of “he” when talking about Nealfire. Just a little unconscious thing that shows how into the headspace of the character he is.
there’s such a laser focus that there has never been in his life since he was a child, in terms of what he wants and how he needs to get there,
Not since he was a child trying to save his father’s soul has he been so determined to achieve something as he is now, trying to get back to Emma.

ParticipantTheir thank you tweets are so stinking cute! 🙂

ParticipantHe hasn’t been emotionally open with many women in his life. We have no idea about his pre-Milah days, but I doubt he’s opened up to any other woman since Milah. So if he’s feeling something genuine for a woman for the first time in a couple hundred years, it’d be believable that he’s a bit confused and has to actually figure out what it is he’s really feeling, and maybe he initially misinterprets what’s going on.
But yes, whoever they put Emma with, I hope it’s done in a conclusive way, so the other ship isn’t left hanging on with false hope.
