ParticipantConsidering this would be a recent interview, I’m guessing it’s an indication of the type of story they’ve been telling in the eps they’re up to shooting now, otherwise it wouldn’t have been relevant for him to mention it at all. (That “Emma loves him” bit might have made me a little bit happy, because present tense, baby!)
I know I’ve said this before, but if they want to give Hook some character growth through this NL arc, they’ll be having him examine his past actions and consider how that should affect his present (and future) actions. Killian Jones of the past would proudly boast, “I’ve had many a man’s wife.” Killian Jones who has learned from his past could well say, “I’ve had more than enough women who were loved by another man, and I’m not gonna do it again.”
And I’m not just saying this stuff as a SF shipper, I’m also saying it as a fan of Hook, who acknowledges that he doesn’t exactly have a pristine track record, and he’s probably not that proud of all of his past actions, and I’d like to see him be happy within himself. Being stuck in a cycle of living in a way that you know isn’t productive, happy and healthy, it’ll eat away at you, and he’s been around for a few centuries, which is a long time to have regrets eating away at you. So I could see it if they created this “triangle” situation because now is the time when he’s gonna be tempted to do the same old thing, but is finally gonna get the inspiration he needs to get his arse kicked out of that usual cycle he’s entrenched in. Something in his usual cycle needs to change, and that something could well be being slapped in the face with how his actions can hurt someone he genuinely cares for in Nealfire. Any other time he’s taken a woman, it’s been with no concern for how his actions might affect the other man in that woman’s life. But this time, the other man is Bae, who Hook genuinely cares for. Last time he took another man’s wife, it also involved Bae, and it hurt Bae, but he didn’t see or appreciate that until many years later, at which point he regretted causing the hurt.
The alternative way they could take the story would have him just hurting Bae all over again in a very similar way, but where’s the story in that? Where’s the character growth? So I’m glad that Colin mentioned Hook’s emotions regarding Bae in that article, because more than anything, it gives me hope that they’ve got some stuff in store where we’re gonna get a better look inside Hook’s head and heart, and as a Hooker, that’s what I’m dying to see.
The last part where he’s talking about Emma and Hook being similar, that’s the stuff that makes me think they’d be valuable friends for each other. I was listening to a podcast earlier, and someone pointed out that since losing the friendship she had with Mary Margaret, who turned out to be her mother so their relationship drastically changed, Emma has no close friends. She could do with a close friend who gets her, like Hook does.
I’d rather his relationship not progress with Emma to the point of being in love, since I’d rather he just cool it with Emma when Neal returns.
That’s what I’m imagining. I think his telling Emma that perhaps he would like to get to know her better was genuine, and I think he’s willing to open up to her in a genuine way, and I think they very well could start to develop a closer bond without him falling in love before Neal shows up. Maybe Hook would be on the brink, but he’s still be a bit unsure of how exactly he’d like their relationship to progress, and the Neal reality check will cause him to see the situation more clearly.

ParticipantI think that’s what we’re saying, yes.
Though I sorta think it’s a bit of a stretch if time froze in ALL the worlds, but everyone from ALL the worlds wasn’t taken to SB…but they have said that all the worlds were affected somehow, so maybe that’s it?

ParticipantHmmmmm. But Alice is only about 20-25. The Curse was cast now 29ish years ago. Meaning that her first adventure in WL (when she was very young) took place during the Curse.
But if time froze for Alice in FictionalLondon at the same time that time froze for the Knave in SB, then we don’t have the problem of him having left the magical realms before Alice was even born.
Phee
ParticipantI thought they said that the curse affected all lands. So I think it froze the time in all lands. So I think most stuff which happened was before the curse and after Alice came back to FictionalLondon time was frozen until Emma arrived in SB.
I think frozen time in FictionalLondon would probably solve the dilemma, yeah. Tweeted Adam just before to ask about it, but who knows if he’ll see it and reply or not.

ParticipantAwwwwwwww! <3 🙂

ParticipantIf he has been involved with double crossing people and whatnot in the past, it’ll be interesting to see how he reacts when it’s revealed that the Rabbit is currently a pawn of the RQ. On the one hand, he’d be super pissed that he got dragged back to WL by being lied to and used. On the other hand, maybe he’s been in Rabbit’s position himself in the past, so isn’t really in a position to get high and mighty about having been lied to.

ParticipantWhile that explanation works for me, having just rewatched I’m not convinced. The vortex the rabbit opens out of fictional London probably closes back up and I’ll accept that. But the hole that opens in Granny’s literally EXPLODES, just like the hole that opens in the first shot of the show when Alice comes back to London as a little girl. Different portals it looks like.
Rabbit holes do appear to open quite violently on the destination end, but I still think they probably close themselves up too. If not, then there’ll forever be a big hole in the sky where Alice and Knave fell through.
Maybe the England where Alice come from is not our land without magic,
It’s not. Adam has confirmed that the London that Alice is from is FictionalLondon, but the London where Bae met the Darlings was RealLondon in our world.
Is Wonderland still meant to be right after Broken? I’m not so sure about that. The original 20 min presentation very clearly began during that, but not the aired episode. Personally, I’d rather believe it beings right before “Second Star to the Right”, if only because it keeps the show’s timeline more synchronized with the parent one.
That would be a good question for K&H at some point. Without the Wraith appearing in the final cut of the episode, it’s entirely possible that it was at a different time.
My question is, how did Alice not age for 28 years? We know Jefferson was taken by the curse and the curse lasted 28 years hence why the hatter hadn’t been seen for “some time”. The knave was in Storybrooke and since this takes place during Broken, the Knave would have had to have been in Storybrooke for the duration of the curse- 28 years. Since Alice knew where the hatter lived, she must have met him before the curse was cast.
Alice had to ask the Rabbit where the Hatter’s house was, but I do like to think that she’d met him on her first visit to WL. The t-word is messing with my head, because Alice is early 20s, (actress is 23), so if time runs concurrently in FictionalLondon, FTL, and our world, she wasn’t born until after the Curse was cast. But Knave got swept up in the Curse, and also knows Alice and Cyrus. Soooo…*headdesk*.

ParticipantThis is how Lewis Carroll describes QoH vs RQ…
I pictured to myself the Queen of Hearts as a sort of embodiment of ungovernable passion – a blind and aimless Fury.
The Red Queen I pictured as a Fury, but of another type; her passion must be cold and calm – she must be formal and strict, yet not unkindly; pedantic to the 10th degree, the concentrated essence of all governesses!Cold, calm, formal, strict, I’d say all fit with what we’ve seen of our RQ so far. Imagine Regina in that clifftop scene instead. She’d have strutted up in front of her knights, given a speech about how she was gonna destroy their love, then hurled a fireball at Cyrus’ head to make him fall. RQ stood back and let her knights do the heavy lifting, and only when they failed did she give a little flick of her wrist with an, “Oops.” Both approaches get the job done, so they’re just as dangerous as each other, but they have completely different styles.

ParticipantBecause it was around the time they’d have been shooting 307 when Ginny tweeted that pic of MRJ and Josh where MRJ was dressed just like in Tallahasse, so I’m guessing 307 is Neal centric, so it’d make sense for that ep to show him reuniting with the others in present day. I could be way off of course, that’s just what I’m guessing.

ParticipantJafar – Well?
RQ – She’s back.
Jafer – And what is the girl doing now?
RQ – Looking for her genie, of course. Isn’t that what we wanted, Jafar?
Jafar – What we want can’t be accomplished until we have the genie’s bottle, and the girl’s made all her wishes. so I’d say, perhaps you shouldn’t be so pleased with yourself.
RQ – Do not talk down to me, Jafar. I’m the Queen.
Jafar – That’s the thing about power, it can be so fleeting.
RQ – Is that a threat?
Jafar – No, threats are for people who aren’t prepared to act.
RQ – You need me.
Jaffar – Not any more.
RQ – But I did what you could not, I brought Alice back to Wonderland.
Jafar – Which mean your work and your usefulness, is done. I’ll take it from here.
RQ – *being choked* Do you know where she is? That’s right, you don’t. You’re not in Agrabah any more, darling. This is my world, which means only I know exactly where she is. Only I know exactly where she’s going. So if you want my help, yes, our deal remains. I will get you those wishes.
Jafar – In return for what, exactly?
RQ – All in due time. So why don’t you get on that raggedy carpet of yours, and fly away. And let me take care of Alice.
Jafar – For your sake, I hope you do.
Cheshire Cat says, “The Red Queen promised you’d be the sweetest meat I’ve ever tasted.” So it sounds like perhaps RQ doesn’t actually give a crap about Jafar getting his wishes, she just wants Alice dead? Though what she said to WR suggests she’s got something more complex in mind. “I said we’d settle up when the game was complete, we are still setting up the board. As for your friend Alice, I need you to report everything she does, where she goes, who she talks to, what she is thinking. I need more than my eyes, I need your ears.” And I guess she must want something more than just Alice getting dead, otherwise why go into business with Jafar in the first place? I’m assuming that whole deal where RQ knocked Cyrus off the cliff and he landed on the carpet was all planned, and it wasn’t just Jafar getting lucky? If so, they’ve been working together even before Alice left WL last time.
