ParticipantWas just doing some reading up on the Merry Men for a crackpot post in another thread and came across this…
Djaq
Introduced in the episode Turk Flu, Djaq (played by Anjali Jay) is a Saracen who is being transported as a slave. Her true name is Saffiya, but she disguises herself as a boy by adopting her dead twin brother’s name and appearance. Though Robin’s outlaws are shocked when Will reveals that she is a woman, they permit her to stay.
Djaq’s father is a physician, and she herself has considerable knowledge of medicine and chemistry, which she uses to serve as the group’s medic and to create black powder. She expresses fondness for the entire gang of outlaws, even Allan following his defection. In A Good Day to Die, she and Will express their mutual love for each other; they remain in the Holy Land at the end of the second series. It is implied that they are going to marry at the end of season 2.
Djaq is not one of the traditional characters in the Robin Hood legends, although she does follow in the latter-day tradition of a Saracen character being added to the band of outlaws. (See Nasir in Robin of Sherwood from the 1980s, Azeem (a Moor) from Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves in 1991, Achoo from Robin Hood: Men in Tights in 1993 and Kemal from The New Adventures of Robin Hood from the 1990s). She is, however, the first female Saracen character to feature in this role.

Could this be who Lauren’s character is based on?[adrotate group="5"]Phee
Participantand Neal, recovering from his wounds, travels through the Enchanted Forest with Mulan in an attempt to learn the fates of Emma and Henry.
Crackpot tangent…
In the WL section yesterday, some of us were discussing some BTS pics of characters that we concluded were potentially Merry Men. Will (the Knave) was on set, dressed in his leather jacket, which means the scene was present day. So it looks like perhaps the Merry Men are still in FTL in present day. If so, could they be who Neal and Mulan are going to see? Could there be someone there who has some sort of magical knowledge, and perhaps helped them get back Philip’s soul, so they’re gonna go and see if they can help Neal out as well? Maybe Onceiverse Friar Tuck is more of a magic man as opposed to a religious man, and he has some special insight or knowledge that could help?Phee
ParticipantHmmm, good point. Could they just have him in flashbacks on WL, showing the time when Will was with Robin and the Merry Men, and just have them mention him being “lost” in present day on WL. But the actual story of why he’s “lost” to them is him being in SB, which will be covered on OUAT. Perhaps?

ParticipantThat’s an excellent point. Part of me would be fine with her going to FTL if it meant her getting to see Mulan and Phillip again, and properly meeting Neal, but you’re right, it would remove SB from the equation completely, and I doubt they’d do that.

ParticipantThat’s how I see the current CS relationship too, RG. As well as that, if he’s wanting to prove himself trustworthy now, then being honest with her is sort of vital, whether romance is on his mind or not. He once said to her, “Try something new, darling. It’s called trust,” and they’ve each screwed the other over since then, but he did come back with the bean in the end, and he’s gonna try to do better. How can he expect Emma to try trusting him, if he’s not upfront with her from here on in?

ParticipantSleepingWarrior has become a reasonably popular ship. Hadn’t thought about it at all the first time I was watching the show, but during my recent re-watch, I was keeping it in mind, and I can see where people get the idea from. Obviously not gonna happen as long as Phillip’s alive, because he’s confirmed as being Aurora’s true love, but the way Sarah and Jamie played their interactions, I can see potential subtext for a potential attraction there, especially on Mulan’s part.

ParticipantDidn’t see this one posted yet. I love how Ginny and Lana’s faces are all “ARRRRGH” and Josh is just, “LOL”.

Just saw this post on tumblr and OMG Charming family FEELS! I can’t wait for this ep. Gonna be an emo wreck after just the first few minutes.

ParticipantLeave me on a tropical island with Hook and a bottle of rum and I’d be one happy girl! 😉
Meanwhile…the key. He’s holding it in two separate shots, in one of them he’s wearing his big coat, and in the other he doesn’t have the coat.

That suggests the key is in two separate scenes, (unless he takes the coat off mid-scene, maybe to give it to Emma, so she feels more piratey after he gives her the sword?), so even if it’s the key to a chest with the sword in it, there’s likely something else important about that key/chest as well. Something that’s gonna become significant in 305, (doesn’t look like the same key as in the script pic IMO, they just included a key as a general clue), so it’s probably connected to his past, possibly his father, or whoever Liam is, if he’s not his father, (seriously wish there’d been some leaked info about who’s playing Liam, and the fact there hasn’t been just makes me all the more suspicious that he’s gonna look an awful lot like Hook).Phee
ParticipantIt’s a good point, about the media telling us what they want us to know to try and make us think what they want us to think. For all we know, Philip and Aurora are actually with them, but they only have 2 horses, so Neal has to ride shotgun with Mulan. I can see any of MAP giving Neal a pep-talk (if he even needs one) about getting up and finding a way back to Emma and Henry. Mulan’s all about not giving up in general, but Philip and Aurora are an example of a couple who fought to be reunited against the odds TWICE in very recent history.
In other news, here’s a tumblr post everyone should read…

ParticipantGood idea to start this topic as its own thread, Josephine.
Agreed with what people have said about characters having to follow their hearts. In the cases of Emma and Neal, they don’t appear to have any personal connections to anyone in our world outside SB, so I think if their family wanted to go back, they wouldn’t have anyone tying them to our world to make them wanna stay.
I also think there could be a necessary, practical side to going back as well though, because I just dunno if our world would be a safe place for SB to actually integrate into.
SB has never existed on any maps. The people don’t really exist as far as our world is concerned. With the Curse no longer in effect, what does that mean for SB? If it can no longer self sustain itself indefinitely, it will have to connect with the outside world. As that happens more and more, if people start traveling into and out of town, word will get out about this SB place and people will get curious and eventually everything about SB will be exposed. There is still magic there, and many people in our world would love to use and abuse magic if they had access to it.
If they remain completely closed off from the rest of the world, would that be satisfying for the SBers? Unable to travel outside town still, because the secret must be kept, but now knowing with full consciousness that the whole world is out there just beyond their reach. It’d feel a bit like living trapped in a cage.
If the cloaking spell doesn’t last, and THO come to town, even if the SBers take care of them, they’ll be living under the constant threat of more and more people possibly coming to expose and/or destroy them.
Considering stuff like that, I think they’d probably all be safer back in FTL with the ogres.
If they all do go back, FTL needs to be rebuilt. They would take with them all of the real world knowledge they acquired thanks to the Curse. They now have knowledge of a whole different system of governing, of a whole different social structure that doesn’t consist of royalty and peasants. They have knowledge about medicine and electricity and machinery, including cars. They could take all of that stuff back with them, and use it to rebuild FTL, and the place could end up being the best of both worlds.
