[adrotate group="5"]Hmmm, veeerrrry curious! If I happen to be online next time Adam is tweeting, I’ll have a shot at asking for confirmation of this tidbit. Would be interesting if perhaps this is how the Knave’s FTL based story fits in, if he was one of the Merry Men.
OK, I’ve tweeted him, coz he was online only about half an hour ago, so maybe he’s still lurking around.
If there’s one thing Emma typically isn’t, it’s needy. She’s used to taking care of herself, not relying on anyone else. Even if she does need someone, she’s not gonna let it show. But in that moment over the portal, that wall of hers came crashing down and she admitted that she needed him. The only person she’d ever truly relied on in her life, and despite what happened, she knows she can rely on him again like she couldn’t with anyone else. He knows her like no one else. He loved her like no one else ever has. And she needed him again so they could keep fighting against the world together, like they did back in the day.
Man, I need to not think about SF after I’ve had a couple glasses of wine. Any moment now I’m gonna do my impression of Emma’s ugly portal cry.
This actually brought a little tear to my eye. Having either/both end up fostering children is quite fantastic. So far we’ve seen the foster system as this evil entity. It would be nice to see the positive side. Based on their background I think they’d be wonderful foster parents.
They’d be the most wonderful parents because they know what it’s like to grow up feeling totally alone. Emma’s first family sent her back to foster care and rejected her and she had who knows how many other horrible experiences, being tossed around between homes. She’d make sure any foster child of hers always felt safe and secure and wanted. Neal’s family abandoned him and he had to go it alone. Any foster child of his would know without question they could depend on him to be there always, and would give them anything they needed.
It’s not surprising that Emma isn’t sitting around bemoaning the tragic fate of Neal’s untimely demise and Henrys’ kidnapping. Although Emma is heart-broken, she doesn’t have the luxury of time or the experience to know how to deal with these vulnerable emotions. She has always kept her head down so as not to get hurt. Emma is a survivor. The few times we’ve seen Emma let her walls down are with her parents, like just after Neal went through the portal and David comforted his daughter. Yet, now that Henry is missing, Emma once again has to close off those emotions and bring her son home so that Neal’s sacrifice won’t have been in vain. Emma can’t let Henry grow up without his parents, just as Neal said before he let go. Emma has a job to do and she’s a woman on a mission.
THIS! Especially like how you said that she’s gotta lock out her vulnerabilities so that Neal’s death won’t have been in vain. If she doesn’t get this job done, then she loses her son, and as a bonus, Neal’s life was a waste. She can’t let that fate befall either of her boys! She’s gotta go into machine mode for both of their sakes!

All her life, Emma’s felt like her soul had been crushed and worthless, but now she’s coming to discover how powerful it actually is.

The fact that they have two very different versions of the one iconic story gives them so much to play with, even before injecting their own original ideas. Even if Hookriel doesn’t happen, I’m still hoping for a complex, rich, layered, angsty storyline for Onciverse Ariel.
She did look a bit Jasmine-y in other pics, where she had her hair out. This costume and the lack of makeup doesn’t make her look Jasmine-y at all though, so I dunno.
The first batch of pics made it look like she was part of a group of characters, but I can’t think of any groups of characters from the books that they could be.
