ParticipantAlso, Gothel only took rapunzel because of the healing powers of her hair to keep her essentially immortal.
In Tangled, yes. But in the original fairytale the magic hair wasn’t a thing. The witch just took the baby to punish her parents, because she’d busted the father stealing the plant rapunzel from her garden when his pregnant wife was craving it. The witch let him live on the condition that she’d get the baby when it was born.
The bad wig looks like there’s a whole bunch of different types of hair braided into it, so I’m thinking that this Witch just has a hair fetish and keeps a lock of it like a trophy from each kid she’s held captive over the course of her life.

ParticipantI guess the actresses could be playing the same character at different ages, they just look relatively close in age to me? They were born a decade apart though, so ya never know.
Half baked crack theory: Gothel was gonna lock up Anastasia. Ella came up with some impulsive plan to protect her, that ended up backfiring and killed her instead. Then Gothel moved on to her next choice for a prisoner, who was Rapunzel. So Victoria’s connection to the story is that she’s always held a grudge against Gothel for trying to go after Anastasia and thus contributing to the situation that caused her death, which is why she now has Gothel chained up in her own tower.

ParticipantI wonder if Abigail is a reference to Abigail/Kathryn from Season 1, AKA David’s “fake wife”?
Knew the name Abigail felt familiar in the context of the show but couldn’t remember why. Thank you!
I’d say it’s pretty clear that that cemetery was magic-ed into Henry’s path to throw him off course because he’s starting to get close to Jacinda and Lucy.

ParticipantOh wait no, I meant to say I think this tower lady is actually going to turn out to be Rapunzel. *facepalm*
Meegan Warner has been cast to play the new Rapunzel. The Witch in the bad wig was played by Emma Booth.

ParticipantIt’s YoungSnow and Regina and Daniel all over again. *YAWN*
I’m sure it’ll end up being some convoluted thing where Ella had the blame lumped on her even though she didn’t actually kill her. No way are they gonna have Henry’s true love be a child killer.

ParticipantNot gonna lie, I was distracted during this part of the ep because this got stuck in my head…

ParticipantRaise your hand if you think Victoria is actually Rapunzel…..
Victoria is a grown up Rapunzel? Nope. She and WishHook had what was almost a “moment” when she turned him young again, and given that I’m positive that Rapunzel is his daughter, just, NOPE to Victoria being Rapunzel. Also, I know that parents and children don’t have believable age differences, but no way am I believing that Victoria is somehow WishHook’s kid.
The creepy lady in the bad wig has gotta be Gothel though, so Victoria had to have known something about Rapunzel’s story back in EF2.0 if she knew that this particular witch existed.

ParticipantHow does one leave a letter inside a well….? Even the show doesn’t know how this works because they go out of their way to stop us from seeing how this little system between Jacinda and Lucy works.
OMG THANK YOU! I was so baffled by this.

ParticipantI think Daniel is right that since ‘Wish Realm’ was supposedly created by a wish only maybe 15-20 years ago than Wish Realm Hook’s daughter can’t possibly be any older than that…however, I don’t think the writer’s care about that point, so yeah, I still think Hook’s daughter could be any age (and is probably Rapunzel).
Trying to make sense of the Wish Realm existing is impossible. The wish was made to create it last year, but its path diverged from original EF at the time of the Curse, which means it should be 28 years ahead of our main storyline because it wasn’t stuck in a bubble during the Curse, but now a guy from it got aligned with our present day. WUT?
I don’t really have a lot to complain about this week. If I have one it’s that I’m still not on board with New Cinderella (I didn’t like old Cinders much either come to think of it). I don’t know if it’s the coward thing like Nonnie said or just the general unhappiness of her character so far, I just haven’t been able to embrace her yet and I really hope that changes soon since she’s obviously so important to Henry’s story.
This was the first ep where I’ve really had issues with Ella/Jacinda. I know they’ve established that being impulsive is kinda her thing. But with that other stuff, like going to murder the Prince, or quitting her job, or even wanting to run away with Lucy, I can justify that stuff. But burning the petition? Like, has she met her daughter?! In what universe did she think that Lucy would be OK with her doing that?! And in the flashbacks, did she honestly think that any greater good would come from going to see Tremaine in the middle of the night? And then she was gonna kill that guy even though she couldn’t kill Henry? I mean, RLY?
Hopefully they show some growth in her and she doesn’t keep making such impulsively dumb decisions. I did enjoy Lucy putting her in her place after burning the petition, and also Regina giving her the pep talk from personal experience in the flashbacks, so at least the dumb stuff she did had some sorta payoff.
Also, I haven’t been bothered by Dania’s acting in the first 2 eps, even though I know a lot of people have had issues with her. But in this ep, her line delivery just seemed really flat and emotionless, even in that scene where she first met Tiana. A bunch of times though the ep I was left wondering if that was really the best take they had of that scene.
Although I liked discovering part of the reason Tremaine has it out for Cinderella…I feel like it’s just too reminiscent of Evil Queen’s reasoning for hating Snow White. Right down to the preserving of the loved one’s body….I don’t know, I just, I guess I was really hoping for something a little more fresh.
Same. I’m actually fine with all the little nods they’re doing to S1 eps, sure it’s a rehash, but the nostalgia for when the show was fresh and new and great has got me, so I’m OK with them paying homage to that. But if the MAIN PLOT POINT is also just a straight up re-hash, I’m not about that, it’s boring, why couldn’t they come up with something new.

ParticipantI wonder if Drizella loved the Prince and believes Cinderella killed him. Drizella doesn’t know that her mother actually killed the prince, and that’s what’s driving her revenge.
The Drizella we’ve seen so far doesn’t really strike me as the type who could fall in true love though? I’m thinking more along the lines of how she’s gonna have to stand by and watch Cinderella get a handsome Prince (which Henry technically is, even if officially he holds no status in this EF), have a kid, live a happy life, and it’s gonna drive her MAD.
The handsome Prince and the happy life is what Tremaine has convinced Drizella SHE can have, as long as she does this, and this, and this, and this. So all her life Drizella has followed orders and basically been beaten into submission and turned into a horrible person, because at the end of the day, it was all gonna pay off when she got her 100% guaranteed happily ever after. And instead here’s her rogue step-sister, who defied Tremaine at every step, did whatever she wanted to, and SHE’S the one who ends up with the happy ending instead. Drizella can’t stand that, so she uses the Curse to tear Cinderella’s family apart.
(She may even ultimately have her sights set on Henry in HH. If she ends up taking Cinderella’s man, and her child, then it all comes full circle in that tragic way where one becomes the person they hated, and she herself would end up being the evil step-mother.)
