ParticipantFrom the official podcast for Manhattan:
Originally the episode started a little differently, which was that the first, fairytale flashback scene was of a young boy. He wakes up in the middle of the night and he sees his father and his father looks harried and he says, “What are you doing?” And the father says, “Oh I just need to go get water,” and then the father leaves and the boy goes, “But you forgot the pail.” And the little boy goes out and you see that the father was running out on him, and you realise that this is Rumplestiltskin, this is his father, and his father owes money to these two men and he was trying to run out. And they end up killing the father in front of him and you realise the father was going to abandon him, and his father was a coward.

ParticipantThese screencaps that Kranen posted in the trailer thread appear to be in Granny’s…
@Kranen wrote:I’m positive this is Granny’s Diner being blown up by a portal.

Perhaps it was the coming of magic to SB that made it happen. Wouldn’t expect Regina to be involved with a scene where a hole gets blown in Granny’s floor though, so there must be more going on.

And yes, I agree that last season was more clearly structured. This season was all over the place. However, my obsession with this show has reached heights this year that it never quite reached last year, so they are clearly doing *something* right!
With season 1, there was a clear objective that we as the audience knew from the getgo: make Emma believe. I think that’s why that season appeared more structured as we were in the process of watching it. The season 1 finale was a major gamechanger though, one we hadn’t necessarily seen coming, so we went into season 2 blind. K&H knew what the season 2 endgame was, but we didn’t really have a clear focus of that, so stuff along the way seemed more all over the place from our perspective. Personally, I was fine with that, because I was just enjoying the ride, no matter where it was taking me.
But if you look at the season finale, they tied it together nicely. They couldn’t have tried the plan to throw the failsafe down a portal if they couldn’t make the callback to the Wraith. They couldn’t have shown Nealfire landing in FTL and leave us wondering how on earth he’s gonna get out of there if we hadn’t seen the state that the place is in earlier in the season. I think that upon re-watch, the season as a whole will appear more cohesive, now that we know where it ended up and how all the pieces fit together.
And for all the ups and downs that the characters have been through, in the end, I think it all served a purpose because all of their paths and trials and developments ended up converging in a believable way in the finale, and now Henry has his family united, like he’s always wanted, (with the exception of himself being kidnapped of course).

Ships have been known to be infested with rats 😆 I like to think Rump has him hidden in his pocket and will pull him out at just the right time when needed.
Well, ya know, he keeps random tears in jars for years just in case they’ll come in handy, so why not a rat in his pocket. 😆

I was thinking about why on earth do they have that picture of Henry?!
What if Henry was prophesied to PP or BF before Rumple was the dark one. And BF (with PP) but everything in motion to ‘create’ Henry in the 21st Century and have a plan in place to bring him back to NL. Very crazy and I’m sure there are some holes I’m missing. Any thoughts?
Now I still don’t have an idea as to why they need Henry. You mean Henry could have been prophesied as Peter Pan’s undoing too? That sounds likely…
Yep, one of the ideas I’ve been pondering is that perhaps PP wants to be undone, and Henry is his only means to do it, so he orchestrated the whole shebang.

ParticipantI don’t understand the logic of people thinking that this new way would make the scheduling more complicated. Surely one, long, consistent block of eps on every week is easier to follow than 2 weeks on, 3 weeks off, 1 week on, 2 weeks off, etc? If the schedule is consistent for a full half of the season, it means people get into the routine of tuning in every week, and the story is easier to follow because it’s not constantly stopping and starting.

ParticipantThere has to be a Davy Jones connection with Hook somewhere. You don’t name a sailor Jones and give him an enchanted ship if there’s not some connection to Davy freaking Jones.

The only thing I might take issue with is who his father really is. This is sort of hand canon, but I’ve always believed that Hook is going to turn out to be a lost Prince. I tend toward the notion that Davy Jones raised him, but only after he was spirited away by forces that sought to take his throne. So even Hook may not know his own backstory.
This is part of what’s keeping me from totally buying that his father was just some fugitive who ran away so he wouldn’t be caught, because I’m still clinging to the idea of him being of royal blood. So yes, I do think that what he told Bae was inspired in some way by his actual story, but I’m not convinced that it was his actual story.

ParticipantJust to offer a different perspective on the youth thing, (because I love the idea that PP needs Henry as an ultimate sacrifice to stay young forever, but have also been pondering every other option and melting my brain in the process), what if PP actually wants to grow old and die? Maybe he’s totally over being centuries old and trapped in a young body. Maybe his curse is similar to The Dark One in that there’s only one way out of the deal. Maybe the only way is for PP to possess one specific human body, so he can actually grow up and eventually die. And the specific body he needs is Henry’s, because he’s unique in that he’s the product of people from a magical realm, but was the only person in SB who was able to age.

I wonder if the Knave of Hearts character was trapped in Storybrooke because of the curse and that is where our story will begin? In the trailer/promo pics he appears to be wearing very modern clothing as opposed to the clearly old-fashioned outfits Alice and the others are wearing in the Victorian setting.
Good catch! Leather jackets weren’t all that common in Victorian London.

Also found out that Lana Parrilla teased on her twitter that she might be appearing on the spinoff, but the tweets have since been deleted it seems 🙁 Possibly she’ll be appearing in the first episode, maybe in Storybrooke? Who knows how this show’s timeline will compare to Once’s.
Hmmm, if Lana’s gonna be in a SB scene, then it’s gotta be set some time before the season finale. Or maybe she’ll be in FTL, or even WL? Judging by that brief shot of The Red Queen, I could totally believe that she and the EQ had Skype sessions to talk fashion. 😉
