So the staff acts as a wand? Enchanted by a fairy you might say?
Enchanted by something. If Felix is the one controlling the Shadow, and if Felix’s staff can make people lift off the ground, maybe that explains how the Shadow and the children he takes can fly.

But why would Felix just leave if he suspects Bae is hidden below deck? If he’s that scared of Hook, would he even attempt magic in the first place? And if he has magic, couldn’t he just magic Hook onto the floor.
Well there were BTS pics of Bae with the Lost Boys in a boat, weren’t there? So I’m thinking Felix didn’t exactly just walk away and give up. He wasn’t getting anywhere at that moment, but if he waited and watched the ship, eventually Bae would come out so he could get at him.

Oh hmm, the staff thing….well he could have put him up there so he wouldn’t have to be bothered with him but didn’t the press release say something about the lost boys being after Bae? Why wouldn’t they just take him then? I really really want to know what is actually going on but I like the staff idea. I don’t want Hook to let anything happen to him though – and I don’t think he will
Oh, I think that Bae is actually under the floor. That grate thing you can see where the leg is coming through, that’s in the shots when Bae is sitting up and talking to Hook. So I think Hook stuck him down a trapdoor when he heard that Felix was coming. So Felix is now standing directly over the top of Bae, and Hook’s all, “He’s not here,” and Felix is all, “We’ll see about that,” and waves his fancy staff that will summon Bae to him against his will if he’s anywhere nearby. But because Bae’s under the floor, he doesn’t rise up, he just gets stuck, and then Felix leaves with the suspicious look over his shoulder, because he’s sure Bae is hiding in there somehow.

and it certainly does not look like he is straining to hold himself up
This. Even if he’s strapped in, the actor should still be showing some sort of strain in his hands and face to convey what’s happening. Actually, his face looks really blank. I’m starting to like my random idea that Felix put some sort of spell on him. I’m thinking it froze him, accounting for his stiff posture and blank face, and then he was raised up as Felix tried to summon him using that staff. Maybe this has something to do with how the Shadow and his captors can fly?

OH, IDEA! Maybe Tink pops in and makes him levitate?
I was toying with that idea myself, but I ruled it out because I thought Adam and Eddy said we wouldn’t see Tink until S3.
I don’t recall them saying when we might see her, but they hinted at showing her at some point. Can’t remember for the life of me where that quote would be though. The talk of Hook giving him pixie dust just got me thinking how even if someone gave Bae that stuff, he wouldn’t use it because he hates magic. So if he is indeed levitating by some magical means, someone had to do it to him against his will.
I guess the alternative to Tink being there is that Felix bangs that staff on the floor and something magical happens to lift him up, because Felix is using the staff to summon him?

I don’t think Bae’s levitating, I think his feet have been planted along with his hands and he’s more or less gripping the woods (palms facing down). It’s done quite often in movies and TV.
Check his foot though, his shadow suggests that his foot isn’t pressed hard against the railing, which it should be if he’s supporting his own weight like that.

ParticipantMysteryKat, I was just looking at that post before myself. Here’s the direct link to the whole post: http://onceuponamirror.tumblr.com/post/50056284678/everybody-stop-and-look-at-what-i-found
(BTW, I clicked to see that page’s archive and that’s where I got the direct link from.)I wasn’t really buying into the fairy dust thing until they connected it with the Bae apparently levitating thing. Hmmm.

We’ll have to find out who that cloak guy is….he’s got major creep factor though….just like that shadow.
The actor seems to have long, lanky limbs, just like the Shadow. Just sayin’.

We can most definitely talk about that because it’s one of my favourite pastimes and hot dang does he look good in red!
Yeah, it’s something about the red. And the hair. He’s doing something different with the hair?
The swagger is oooooooozing out of those still pics. Seeing him in motion in this ep may do me in.

I thought it looked like he was levitating at first too Phee! The kid must be good at (very quickly) finding a way up to the rafters and then holding on for dear life by wedging himself up there in such a way…either that or somebody around there has magic that shoved him up there and told him to be quiet. That picture seems so….odd.
Glad it’s not just me seeing things! 😆 His left foot doesn’t appear to actually be touching the beam, which is throwing me off. But if the whole of his leg is pressed against the beam, I guess that would hold him.

Seems very likely RG! Wasn’t there something in the press release maybe about a group of lost boys that were hunting Bae down…or did I totally imagine that? In that case…it explains the image of Bae on the ceiling and Hook keeping his cool (or so it seems) when what’s his name (is that Felix? – based on the next pic) is there probably looking for Bae.
BONDING MOMENT
Ah yes, that makes sense. Though the kid totally looks like he’s levitating or something, which is…odd, (or maybe it just looks like that to me because I’m incredibly sleep deprived right now)?

Also, can we talk about how much I swooned over Colin in the NL pics? And I am not a “swoon over Colin” type of girl.
We can most definitely talk about that because it’s one of my favourite pastimes and hot dang does he look good in red! 😀

If it weren’t for that one stupid line of NealFire’s it would all be fine because it would make sense. The only way it doesn’t is if it’s some alternate version of London but then how the heck does that fit in with anything?
In the spoiler forum somewhere I pondered if maybe it was a FictionalLondon in a FictionalEngland in a FictionalCopyOfOurWorld. In other words, where all the non-magical, real world storybook characters live, just like all the characters from fairytales live in their own separate world, and characters from sci-fi have their own separate world. Then he could have gone to a land without magic, but still not have come to our world first. But there was nothing in the ep, and I haven’t heard anything said from an official source, that supports that idea. So we’re just stuck wondering about Nealfire’s lie, and frankly, it’s really bugging me. 😕

He’s already uneasy with destroying the whole town, sure, but given the almost confirmed surrogate father/son relationship he had with Bae, I see it has highly likely that he’ll face Rumple at some point in the episode, notice how completely broken his enemy is and discover to his horror that the duo that he’d been helping “killed” the boy he once cared for. I think that’ll be the turning point for Hook.
This must happen!!
