I’ve been thinking about this and I believe that the real Belle’ll come back as a consequence of Emma and Regina preventing the destruction of Storybrooke. I think that, by doing this, they’ll obliterate the leftovers of the curse that still plague the town, like the barrier of forgetfulness, which, in turn, will restore the memories of those who lost them due to it, namely Belle and Sneezy.

I’m going to work with this. Let’s say that’s true, and the fail safe destroys all leftovers of the Curse. Does this mean that people can leave SB for the real world? Maybe instead of all the characters going back to the EF like I’ve been proposing, they go to Boston or something.

I’d imagine they could. It would be the final barrier coming down between SB and the real world, so people can go in or out easily.

Now, another question is, if all affects of the curse vanish, does that also mean that none of their ID would be recognised in the real world, so even if they did venture outside, they wouldn’t get very far in the world? Would it mean that when people in SB tried to order stuff from the outside world, or when they used their credit cards online, or whatever, that alarm bells would go off for real world authorities to investigate because there are all these people saying they come from a town that no one’s heard of before, but they all seem perfectly real, so what gives?

How would The Home Office factor in? Would they keep hunting them down, trying to expose them to the whole world? Or would they eventually end up being SB’s salvation in some way, because they’re the only ones who know and believe their true stories?

This kinda stuff could get really interesting.

Ok so Bae, to start with, is being held captive but that actually makes sense as it’s a pirate ship and they don’t know him – at least they went to talk to him fairly early it seems, and he’s not tied up just being kept down there until they can analyze the situation –

They even gave him a blanket to wrap around himself. Such gracious hosts. 😉

Hook asks what happened to his dad and he says he left him *sniff* and calls him a COWARD! The look on Hook’s face, I just…did you SEE that look?? Wonder if he’s going to tell Bae the truth at some point

I’m in two minds about this. On the one hand, Hook dropping that bomb could have led to their relationship turning sour, which is why they ended up in different worlds, and why Nealfire didn’t feel bad about leaving him tied up in NYC. On the other hand, I think he’d have brought it up with Rumple by now if he knew.

I really think that after that moment we’ll see Hook be MUCH kinder to him. I still don’t think he has a clue what to do with kids, but Bae is old enough that he can learn a lot of things like driving the ship and swordfighting so I think Hook will find a way to have some fun with it and hopefully teach him stuff (like more about the mermaids??). Hook couldn’t destroy the shawl because Milah made it. He just realized this is Milah’s son (and also the son of the man that he hates – BUT the key here is that he is Milah’s son too and I think that Hook will see a lot more of Milah in him than he does Rumple and will bond with Bae over what happened and they will get along for a time at least).

I think he’s already seeing some of Milah’s spunk in this kid. And if he sacrificed himself to save others, then that means he doesn’t have the coward gene. I really think that Hook will look at Bae more as his mother’s son than his father’s. But at the same time, he could be a valuable tool to use in his quest for vengeance. Dilemma much.

You never were, I never believed it either. 😉

Ah good to know there are still a few of us optimists floating around. 🙂

Was just thinking about this mermaids in NL thing they’ve confirmed now through Wendy telling Bae. This must surely mean that Ariel’s story will take place in NL, right? Otherwise it’s the biggest misdirection in the history of misdirections.

K&H said we'd hear hints about someone new before season's end but we won't see them until season 3, and I'm really starting to think that that someone is Ariel.

If so, NL isn’t exactly known for being overrun with eligible bachelors to fill the role of her prince, due to the fact that humans there don’t grow up, which means that her prince must be an out of towner. Thus far, the only adult out of towners we know of who have been in NL are Hook and his crew. Of course, that could potentially change, (though it would be sort of repetitive if they show someone else’s ship coming to NL too), but as of right now, just looking at it logically, I’d say Hook is a definite contender.

Unless there’s some guy on his crew named Eric. 😛

PS. If you haven't already seen this sneak peek of Hook talking to Bae, he mentions mermaids…it's only one sentence, but it still made me flail to see him mention them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DJY4LfhIr4 I think the “curse of the mermaids” is the myth that they drag you to your death if they catch you in the water, which sets it up for them to show us Ariel saving someone instead in the future. The shipper in me wants to say that them showing that Hook in particular believes it is foreshadowing that he's the one who'll personally experience the opposite. I'm trying not to get ahead of myself with this stuff, but dang it's hard to not let my imagination run away from me!

I do think that Rumple accepting blame and not passing it off to others is a real sign of change in him, though. Every other time we’ve seen him dealing with stuff, he passes on the blame that we know is aimed at himself to someone else–the BF, the Seer, Milah, Hook, Moe, Regina, Keith–but this time, he tells the Charmings that it’s his fault. And that he’s ready to accept the price.

So true! Ladies and gents, I do believe we have our “game-changer”.

More ponderings on the “curse of the mermaids” and I’m sticking with it being the traditionally held belief that mermaids drag you down to your death. Because that right there is the perfect setup for us to see Ariel save someone instead, and prove the myth wrong.

The Hookriel shipper in me wants to call it foreshadowing that Hook in particular says that particular stuff about mermaids, and he will personally experience the opposite. But regardless of who Ariel’s prince ends up being, I think that them introducing the “curse of the mermaids” as being this, it’s a perfect setup to show Ariel doing the opposite in a later ep.

Can we please discuss this curse of the mermaids that Hook saved Baelfire from? These must be vicious mermaids after all, like the ones who drown sailors in POTC 4.

I agree. Bad mermaids. I wonder if the mermaids are divided in factions. Ariel and her sisters are the good mermaids but there was a rebellion by bad mermaids who now rule the underwater kingdom and have some sort of curse they placed in the water.

I hope it’s just that all mermaids have a dark side, and that’s what gets them a bad rep. The TV Guide article said that Hook is talking to Bae about mermaids when he’s teaching him to drive the ship, so I expect we’ll get more mermaid info apart from this mention in the sneak peek scene. I CAN’T WAIT!

Colin’s delivery of, “Well aren’t you quite the hero?” cracks me up. He’s gonna be so fascinated by and confused about this kid, and I look forward to seeing him trying to suss him out, and figuring out how to react to him.

I think Rumple has lost the will to live. He blames himself for what happened to both Bae and Belle. He sees that he has an addiction to magic and is thinking that the world would be better off without him. I don’t think he is going to go after Henry at this point- he seems to be at peace with the idea of dying.

This! OMG please let something change in him somehow so he fights back. Help him, Lacey-Belle Kenobi, you’re his only hope!

The way Rumple staggers backwards right after they tell him, like his whole world has been thrown off balance. And those unshed tears in his eyes! GAH! Robert Carlyle is perfection.

What is strange why did the shadow wait 6 months latter to come for Bae, that shadow should have came just as soon as Bae arrived in England not till he was with the Darlings. ❓

That is a very good question.

Hmm… Maybe the shadow cannot forcibly take anyone with it; that person must willingly go with the shadow. Just like in Evil Queen/Snow case, the poison apple won’t have the effect on Snow unless Snow willingly eats it.

The shadow tried to find Bae and found Bae even before Bae arrived at the Darlings. But the Shadow knows that Bae will refuse to go with it willingly because Bae has no interest in anything magic, so it had to wait.

When Bae was with the Darlings, the Shadow knew its chance had come. It lured Wendy and made a deal to release her by taking one of her brother. Knowing that Bae would sacrify himself for the Darlings, the Shadow now could take Bae as Bae is willing to go in place of the Darlings’ boy.

Really like this explanation. Makes perfect sense IMO. All the other kids in NL were probably like Wendy and just wanted to go on a fun adventure. But Bae is a special case, so the Shadow had to wait until the right time to manipulate him into offering himself up.

Access: How big of a revelation is that going to be to Hook (who Bae is)? Does it excite him?
Colin: It’s complicated because Hook obviously loves Milah, Bae’s mother, and he has this incredible hatred for Bae’s father, so it’s kind of a complicated thing. It’s interesting to sort of see Hook and… it’s pretty incredible that he happens to pull Baelfire out of the sea, considering his relationship with both parents, so you get to see a different side to Hook and a slightly deeper layer and I think people are gonna be really happy with that.

It makes me really happy just to read about it in an interview, I’m gonna be beside myself when I actually see Hook and Bae interacting! I’m actually more eager to see this part of the story than I am the stuff with the failsafe.

I also think the final scene will be the JR popping up on the horizon, seeing the island, the core cast looking over the edge of the JR and then Hook, who is up in the crow’s nest smiling and yelling “Neverland!”

I’d be totally fine with the final scene being a shot of Colin O’Donoghue’s smile. Just sayin’.
