ParticipantI remember watching the live tweets from Comic Con mentioning Herbie when people were listing the new stories that were hinted at. Thought I remembered Emma’s bug being in one of the season one openings though, so I figured that’s what people were seeing in the montage and they just got confused. If the bug shot is now mysteriously missing in the version that ended up online, perhaps they edited it before making it public, so halt that Herbie confusion?

ParticipantYes, that’s a similarity that makes me think the two character’s stories must be linked in the past somehow. I translated “stolen antiques” as “pirate treasure” when coming up with my BeamanHook theory.

ParticipantYAY Charmings! 😀
That other thread should probably be moved to the ep 2 forum now, huh.

ParticipantThe Merlin theory is my new fave. The more I think about it, the more I like it. With magic back in SB, and Regina and Rumple likely using it to their own advantage, it would be to the good guys’ advantage to have Merlin on their team, especially if it turns out that BF is kind of shady and they need someone else who’s powerful to keep her in check.
We don’t know which ep Lancelot is in yet, do we? Must be early on though if he’s already been cast. They could use that ep to flesh out Whale’s character more at the start of the season, if he’s Merlin.
All that being said, part of me still kinda likes the Gulliver theory too.

ParticipantJefferson was in my dream last night, but buggered if I can remember anything that happened in it. All I remember is he had his hat.

ParticipantI just don’t think they’d introduce another character with a name so similar to Baelfire, (I mean, Beaman…”bay-man”, “bay-l-fire”, that can’t be coincidence, of ALL the names they could have chosen for this new guy), and also introduce an unhappy housewife who runs away in that same ep, if there wasn’t meant to be a connection to Bae and Rumple’s backstory. There’s every chance I’m off the mark, (wouldn’t be the first time), but IMO all the pieces fit pretty much perfectly.

ParticipantThought I saw it mentioned somewhere when the ep aired that it was the same as a song that Snow White sings in the Disney movie.

That’s what I’m thinking. They already hinted at the possibility of Bae not really being Rumple’s kid, and they already hinted at what happened between Rumple and his wife. They don’t need to drag her out and actually show her leaving to get the point across.
Why would they bother hinting at those things if there wasn’t more to the story that they planned to flesh out in a later episode though? They could have made it straightforward, she could have died or left when Bae was old enough to remember it happening, and there didn’t have to be a question of paternity at all. I think they put that stuff in there for a reason, coz there’s more of that story to be told.

ParticipantSeason 1 was a different beast though, because they had to introduce the core group of characters all at the start, so of course we met most of them before we got to hear their specific stories. Now that that core group is established and the storyline is in full swing, there’s not really a point in introducing new characters many episodes before their own story is featured, especially if Aurora and Phillip are only gonna get about as much airtime as Cinderella and Thomas did. In that case, Phillip wouldn’t be significant enough to get a premature introduction in a non-Sleeping Beauty ep.
As for Sleeping Beauty having nothing to do with the main characters, I think it would actually be a perfect parallel storyline for them to tell in FTL, while everyone in SB is in the process of waking up from the curse.
