I think the problem is that there are literally so many kinds of romantic love that trying to have them all fit into neat little categories just doesn’t work.   Case in point: death – and let’s face it, that’s the big issue here and why A and E most likely babbled on unprepared and came up with this “definition” that left everyone scratching their heads when I think what they were honestly trying to do was make everyone feel better.

So back to love and death.  Here’s the problem and why we can try to figure this out and still won’t get anywhere until WE are dead.  When two people are in love (married or not), together for a short period or long period, have lots of good times or not many good times and then one of them dies and then the other moves on and finds someone else – that person typically doesn’t spend time sitting around trying to define which person it is/was that they loved more/deeper/better/truer, etc.  You love the person you are with, you honor the person you WERE with and you have moved on with your life.  If you sat around trying to figure out if your previous partner was your True Love or Soul Mate or THIS one is, you wouldn’t have to worry about it long because you would be single in a hot second – if you are thinking like that your answer is clear and you weren’t ready to move on.  Most people feel happy to have ANOTHER chance at love.

Another situation – divorce and remarriage.  At one point you loved your ex so deeply that you wanted to marry them, now you think they are a walking nightmare and OBVIOUSLY your new spouse is your True Love/Soul Mate.  But when you were married to your ex you would have said they were.  Real life.

TV.  We spend hours trying to figure out the definitions that A and E threw out to us that can’t possibly trump real life because we are ALL affected by our perceptions of love in real life and WHY it is that we want True Love and Soul Mates defined for OUaT.  I’ll be honest – I don’t care because I’m happy with where the show is right now (who am I kidding, I am THRILLED with where the show is).  So I don’t care about the semantics.  True Love, Soul Mates whatever – I get that the characters I love are some version of deeply in love with each other and meant for each other so it’s good with me.  I don’t really have a need to try to analyze it to death.

I forgive A and E because I think they were just trying to say that everyone on the show who has been portrayed as loving someone has “truely” loved them – even if it hasn’t been this rarely achieved level of mutual love that they are holding certain couples to.  But that doesn’t diminish the fact that they did love each other.  It might not always have been healthy, or reciprocated, or meant to be but it was still love.  Unfortunately in trying to make people feel better, they just confused everyone.  I am just moving on.

There is SO much I want to see them do with CS.

Obviously more of their amazing teamwork in dealing with the crisis of the moment and latest Big Bad. But I do actually want to see some domestic stuff as well. Both Emma and Killian have always longed for a family so, even though they are both adventurous souls, I think it would make sense for them to also enjoy being domestic together – they do need some time to just slow down and be together and enjoy each other without worrying about getting killed. That would also be the time to show Killian getting used to Emma’s realm. Which I also agree needs to include giving him some kind of job – he’s not gonna be happy just tagging along with everyone for very long and making friends (continuing his broship with Charming and now Robin is around as well.)

I would also like to see Emma recognize how she has taken Killian for granted. Yes, she has had a tough background but she hasn’t always been very nice to him and so far so hasn’t apologized for her behavior. So there are still some things that need to be addressed in their relationship – obviously, they haven’t even talked about it yet. But Killian has ALWAYS been supportive and there for Emma in whatever way she has needed him, regardless of how she treated him. She’s going to have to realize she can’t continue to push him away or make rude comments to him when things get stressful or she gets scared. It might take having Killian be in danger of being harmed or something for her to realize that she had been taking him for granted. That could result in I love you’s and/or a TLK.

I actually think I would like to see Emma get a new ship, well boat, for Killian. Not the Jolly Roger – giving that up represented giving up the villain side of who he was and realizing that Emma was his home so I don’t think it would make sense to give him back the JR. But I think it would be an amazing gesture of love for Emma to want to provide Killian with a new boat because she knows how much he loves the sea. There are plenty of people who live on boats, or house boats, so it wouldn’t be out of the question for Emma to decide to surprise Killian with a boat for them to live in. And since they have docks right there in SB, it’s not like Henry couldn’t live with them on the boat during the time he stays with Emma. The thing about the boat is that everyone knows that Killian would live wherever he had to to be near Emma, so no one was surprised that he gave up the JR for her. But it is more of a stretch for Emma to make a decision about where to live because of people she loves – first deciding to stay in SB because of Henry, then deciding not to go back to NY because she realized SB was her home. But neither of those were easy decisions for her to make. So deciding to give up what she would see as a “normal” housing situation in an apartment or house to live on a boat for Killian would be a huge show of love.

Favorite CS moment?? That’s almost impossible because I have so many!

The S3 finale kiss at Granny’s is a big one because it was such a “FINALLY!!” moment.

I also loved the whole past Hook sequence in S3 E21/E22. Mainly because I think it showed how Emma was able to acknowledge the feelings she had for Hook as HOOK all along. And even though Capt. Hook was supposed to be this fearsome and dangerous pirate (even in Killian’s mind), he was never a danger to Emma. They were ALWAYS meant to be together, they are timeless – they were always meant to bring the best out of each other. They can be themselves with each other, they don’t have to pretend to be someone they aren’t. Even though they both WANT to be the best version of themselves for each other, they really never HAD to be – the growth/redemption they went through was really for themselves as individuals. They really recognized they were meant for each other from the very beginning when Emma still had her walls sky high and Killian was still deeply in the midst of revenge as Capt. Hook but they weren’t ready as individuals yet to go there.

But I think my very favorite CS scenes are more subtle. They are the scenes when Killy is building Emma up when she is losing her confidence or when when Killy gets to be the strong one.

Like when Emma wasn’t sure they would be able to #saveHenry and Killy gave her the “I’ve yet to see you fail” speech that left her breathless and speechless.

And when she gave her leadership speech on the beach in Neverland about how they all needed to work together and Regina seemed a bit peeved but Killy gave Regina this look like “That’s my girl” cause he was so impressed and proud of what Emma had just said.

And at the Royal Ball in the EF when Emma doesn’t what to do and Killy shows her how to dance and says the only rule is to pick a partner who knows what he’s doing.

And when Emma cries watching Snow try on her future wedding ring and Killy tells her it’s alright because not everyone gets to watch their parents fall in love.

But I think there is currently a tie for my all time favorite CS moment.

First: the expression on Killian’s face when he says “Looks like we are back on track then, love” and wipes her tears away after Snow doesn’t recognize her after Blue turns her back into a human from a bug. Colin is a master at facial expressions. The best part about this scene is he makes you remember that he knows EXACTLY how she feels. He was SO happy to see Emma when he found her in New York but she looked at him and had no idea who he was. So even though he was heart-broken about that, the fact that he had found her meant that he was on track. So that scene collectively shows the heartbreak they BOTH went through at having someone they deeply love not even recognize them. But Killian didn’t have anyone to comfort him! He knows EXACTLY how to comfort Emma and what she needs to hear. It shows how perfect they are for each other.

Second: the expression on Killy’s face when Emma tells him that Storybrooke is her home and he tells her to look down. One of the things I love best about CS is that from the very beginning they figured out they were equals because they went on an adventure together that required both of their knowledge and skill. And here you can see just how PROUD Killy is of Emma that she is strong enough to have figured out what she needed to get her magic back all on her own. He KNEW she could do it and she DID. Once again, Colin and his amazing acting. I don’t know, I think this one might be my favorite.

I know I’m showing my age here but with the talk about the giant snowman I can’t help it . . .

all I see is the Stay Puff Marshmellow Man making his way down the streets of Storybrooke toward the Nevengers .

I’m really having difficulty taking any of the Frozen plotline seriously because I just can’t get this image out of my head!!

HAHAHAHA I was just about to post this one – RGF, you can have that umbrella job, I want to be the hairdresser that gets to spend all day making sure he has perfect sex hair. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it!! Some of the spoiler pics are pretty hilarious. I love the ones when Colin’s engaging with the fans watching – he reminds me of little boys when they’re SO EXCITED they can’t sit still!!

Dear gawd, this is my dream job!!!  That man is sex on legs!!

Is it just me or does Colin seem to be especially sexy right now??  Like he appears to have gotten incredibly comfortable with  his newfound fame?  Not in a “look at me I’m so hot” way but like his shyness has disappeared?  He seems a whole lot more confident to me.  Maybe it’s the job security.

All I know is that I am SERIOUSLY enjoying all these BTS pictures.  Like WAY more than a married woman should be.

‘Yeah, this umbrella guy isn’t cutting it for me – get me @Rumplegoldfan!!’ – Colin O’Donoghue

    (True story.) ;)

Yes!!! You see, this particular gentleman obviously was NOT doing his job. To be a successful professional Umbrella Holder one must keep one’s eyes on Colin O’Donoghue AT ALL times. Other wise, as this poor man learned, you may find yourself taken by surprise when he quickly changes direction or decides to increase his pace. Then you are captured in spoiler pictures running after Colin instead of walking loyally by his side.

The poor man was not shaded from the sun!!! I shudder to think what happened when he needed his coat removed! How long did he have to stand there and wait for that to happen?? Believe me, if I were his professional Umbrella Holder, his clothing would be removed quickly and thoroughly! I take PRIDE in MY work!!

    I love this thread!!

Totally agree about MM’s fashion. A lot of what she wore during S1 came from Anthropologie – I like a lot of their stuff, it’s cute and tends to be a bit different from what you see on everyone without being too edgy – perfect for MM. But then S2 and S3 came along and don’t know what happened!! I was pregnant once too and worked in the corporate world while I was pregnant – I could NOT show up at work looking like I was dressed in a sack of potatoes. I truly don’t understand. There are such cute maternity clothes out there – even if you blow up to the size of a whale like I did you can still find cute and comfortable maternity clothes. In fact my favorite outfit was actually a business suit – it was super soft and stretchy but looked really conservative.

I would kill for Emma’s leather jackets but I don’t have a small fortune to spend. My husband did, however, get me the red coat she wore in S3E1 for Valentine’s Day – he had to track it down to a little boutique in New Jersey to find my size – it appeared to be the only XS left on the face of the planet. I love it and I got so many compliments on it this winter. I actually loved everything Emma wore in NYC except those hideous plaid pants. But I have also liked everything they have put her in. I did like the way they softened her up a bit last season – but I do agree about it being completely unrealistic that she would choose to go after the WW in a skirt. Kind of like how on every crime show the female detective is always wearing 3 inch Laboutins when they take off running after the suspect through the streets of NYC.

I may be the only person who can’t stand the vast majority of what they put Belle in. Probably because I tend to picture myself wearing the outfits and I know no one wants to see my 42 year old body wearing skirts that barely cover my hoo-ha while I titter around in heels that were last seen on a pole dancer – all while wearing a beret to pull the look together. Color me puzzled but I don’t understand the whole “nothing I’m wearing matches” look. But my personal favorite was the Circus Ringmaster outfit she wore when she and Neal were on their quest to bring Rumple back from the goo. That was a OUaT headscratching moment for me but, then again, that was also the episode where Neal was “absorbed” so maybe we just chalk it up to an all around fail.

Pictorial confirmation via tumblr that the Umbrella Holder job description does, indeed, include black leather pirate coat putter oner.

But along without that knowledge comes the confirmation that I have at least one other person out there looking into this particular field of work. Drats, competition!!!

I’m hoping there is an audition process instead of just an interview for the job. I am more then happy to show them just how well I can follow Colin around with a giant black umbrella.

And, let’s be clear, I would dress and undress that man in an EXTREMELY thorough manner. I would be happy to demonstrate some of my more advanced skills and could unbutton those last few buttons on that black pirate shirt as well. I won’t even charge extra for that service.

I’ve decided I’ve had enough of the whole stay at home mom/homemaker thing.

I’ve decided to go back to work!!! Yay!!

I’ve narrowed it down to two potential career options: umbrella holder or leaf tosser.

There seems to be a much greater need for umbrella holders so I can probably get a job faster but I’m guessing there is more skill involved in leaf tossing so the pay is probably better.

Unfortunately I’m an American citizen and I am only interested in working in Canada. Vancouver, actually. Well, Steveston to be precise. So I’m gonna have to look into some kind of formal training program in order nudge out all the Canadian competition.

How exactly does one become a professional umbrella holder or leaf tosser? I’m a hard worker, quick learner, and have previous management experience. I could hold the heck out of an umbrella and would be the most dedicated leaf tosser if someone would just give me a chance to prove myself!

I do have previous experience as an umbrella holder – as a mom it’s part of the job, I just have to hold it a bit higher – I can easily handle that.

And if the job also requires helping put on and remove coats (sweet Jesus) in inclement weather I am also extremely well versed in that skill – even with someone who wants to writhe and wriggle and fight me about the whole endeavor.

Seriously, would that not be the BEST job in the world?? I would LOVE to explain my job to people at parties!!

    “And what do you do?”

“I follow Colin O’Donoghue around with an umbrella all day on the set of OUaT to ensure that the evil rays of the sun don’t reach his beautiful, perfect body. And then when it’s cold I put a heavy coat on him to make sure that hot body of his stays that way. Then I get to undress him when it’s time for him to film a scene. What do YOU do? Neurosurgeon? That’s nice.”

My dream job used to be to work at Disney World. It’s still Disney related but . . .

The picture of Colin today. Yeah. THAT one. I know I don’t even have post it.

Holy <insert completely inappropriate lustful descriptor here>

I really do LOVE the black leather pirate coat but I’ve decided I can live without it. I’m fine if he never wears it again. Really.

I’ve just spent like 10 minutes staring at that picture and I kid you not, my mouth was hanging open and I actually started to drool.
