Other than the ominousness of leaving Belle behind–which COULD be awesome if done just right but I’m not sure I can trust them to do it–the episode was pretty good. I’m SO glad that they finally acknowledged the Grumpy/Belle relationship again. Jeez. About TIME!

As much as I want to trust them, every time I think about it I get nervous. If magical ability was needed to cast the protection then spell, then again I say Blue Fairy. I don’t think we’re going to be seeing much of her or SB for the first half of the season (I predict one full SB episode and one minor appearance in the season premire). I just hope they don’t keep the reunion until the end of S3.

    (I’m jumping in late.)

lol. Please tell me you read the last three pages at least. It’s threads like this that have some of us refusing to use the “t-word”

Keep in mind that Rumple’s being 300 years old was something said outside of the show. Even the press release for this episode said Bae went to 19th century England. That’s the 1800s, so it could be 113–213 years ago.

If it was the 1800s then it HAS to be past 1853 because of the appearance of Big Ben which was finished in 1858. PP was written around 1900 and the clothes of the Darling family looked very end of the century.

Well in typical PP mythology, Peter’s shadow is often a mischievous creature who detaches himself from Peter. So while I think I agree that technically the Shadow itself is not Peter, I think it is an extension of Peter. It may have known that Bae was not Henry, but the same can be said for all the other boys trapped in NL. The shadow seems to be bringing boys to Peter for something.
This thread has an idea that I’m sort of in love with. If Peter can rip the shadow from you, maybe he’s using it to remain youthful forever. He is the boy who refuses to grow up after all. And maybe Henry, being a child of true love and but born into a world without magic is the perfect sacrifice. With Henry’s shadow Peter could potentially live forever without needing more boys.
It struck me last night how the Lost Ones seems almost like followers of ancient cults who are sent out to bring back what their “god” needs. They are bringing sacrifices. In the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur, 7 boys and girls are brought to Crete and placed in the Labyrinth as a sacrifice for the beast. It could be something similar where Peter needs the shadows to live until he finds that one perfect Shadow (Henry). This potentially sets up Neal and Hook, being the two members of our happy part who have had extensive dealings with Peter and the Lost Boys, to rescue the boys and Henry from Peter which is where I think S3 is headed.

I would love to learn that all times Plot Device Fairy is Ploy Device-y was actually her being he puppet master. I’ve never liked her or trusted her but lately all she is a plot device. That magical potion she made just in the nick of time to bring back Belle…plot device. All she needed as August’s hair! Really??

I still hope she’s Sneaky Fairy is Sneaky. But I’m finding it harder to believe.

So we leave season two with Rumbelle separated yet again but to me this means that Belle will have an important role in protecting Storybrooke possibly she may even learn to use magic? Also if she does learn to use magic maybe she’ll learn to use a certain magic mirror to be able to see Rumple while he’s off in Neverland

I really hope you’re right but I cannot emphasize enough that they’ve put too many ball into the air and it hurt them the first half of this season.
For season two part one we had:
    FTL of the past
    FTL of the present
    SB of the present

And it hurt them because casual viewers got confused.

If you’re right about Belle playing a big role then suddenly we’ve got:
    FTL of the past
FTL of the present with Neal and MAP
    NL of the past
    NL of the present
    SB of the present

I think he also left Belle to protect her from Peter because he’s not sure he can beat him

Rumple didn’t know he was going to NL until after he told Belle to stay behind and he used the globe thing.

Why is everyone so certain Red is gone? Didn’t Adam tweet something about it being fine – her other show is filmed in Vancouver, so it won’t be hard to get her over for a few shots as Red.

Yes he did. She’s going to be appearing but no where near as much as she might have. It is also why we haven’t seen her since Welcome to Storybrooke, she was shooting her pilot. I suspect we’ll see her many once or twice during the first half of the season when they show us what is happening in SB.

I will be ok with Belle being left behind as long as she isn’t left *out* and we still get to keep up with what she is up to!

I’ve said this other places but it’s too many balls in the air. Now we’ve got:

    FTL of the past
FTL of the present with MAP and Neal
    NL of the past
    NL of the present
SB of the present with ONE MAIN CHARACTER

Something is going to drop out.

I’m wrong far more often than I’m right, so take my word as gospel at your own risk!

😆 Every time the theory came up that Belle would be left behind, I squashed it like a bug. I was unprepared.

Even Keegan Tracey-whatserface has picked up on the Plot Device Fairy thing. I noticed that while all the cast were live tweeting the finale earlier today, she tweeted something about “hopefully I’m off doing something important to save Storybrooke…. ??”

When even the actress thinks her character has been reduced to just a plot device mechanism, I think we can safely say that the Sneaky Fairy theories are all off the table. I would love to proved wrong, but doubt I will be

As bothered as I am that Rumple told Belle to stay to cast this sudden protection spell (which he could have cast from the boat or I don’t know…BEFORE THE OUTSIDERS CAME TO SB?!?! Seriously if he could do this all along then why didn’t he? Plot Device) I’m more bothered by the potion made at random with August’s hair. I mean wha—?

We don’t know how long the separation lasts RG. Before when it was suggested everyone would go, it was also assumed that SB was gone. Now the question is how do they get back from NL ? They also did say “core cast” is split between SB, boat and another land. I am going to read into that they mean EdR for SB and MJR for FTL. Then they said they want to simplify things–so maybe the split won’t be too drawn out. They do sometimes jump through an arc fast, like Cora. On another show a villain like Cora could easily have been a season long thing, or breaking the curse memory a show long thing.

In the Belle and the Blue Fairy thread, Slurpeez predicted they’d be separated until at least Dec before hiatus. *consumes cookies* Ok, I’m done hijacking every thread about Belle.

Is the goal to ultimately return to SB for good? Is that the plan? I though they’d still go back to the EF and live. Snow and Charming seem on board for that. Emma and Regina and Henry and Neal might be more inclined to go because of how dangerous SB and our world is now.
