So is it possible that Hook’s been hanging out in Neverland with Smee for a very long time at this point? Rather than the short gap that we keep supposing?
I do think that’s a good conclusion. For Bae it’s only been a few years since he lost his mother, but for Hook and Rumple, Milah has been dead for over 100 years. Bae was in the vortex for 100 years or more.

I had thought that him taking the heart was proof that Rumple met Milah and Hook several YEARS after Bae left but we now know that’s not true. You would think it would take a long time to learn that trick, but Cora learned it in an afternoon in The Miller’s Daughter so maybe it’s not actually that hard.
We also know from SB that he had an ability to summon a wraith, a shadow/spirit like entity, so maybe he could do the same with another shadowy entity though he didn’t have the ability to send a physical person through.
Yes, he can but he has to have the medallion and as of right now we have no idea when he got it. I find it hard to believe he got the medallion so soon after losing Bae because, well, we have 250+ years of time to fill. He needs to be doing something during those years. I thought he was out gathering power, collecting items, learning the tricks of the trade. If he did everything with the span of 6 months, then Rumple’s intervening years don’t need to be told and I want backstory!
We also know that it took Bae about 150 years to get from the EF to turn of the century London. Rumple would have acquired a lot of knowledge and experience by then. PLUS, and this is the important thing, Rumple knew when to come and find Bae, in the real world. He could have known that Bae was in London back then as well.
Ok, so everything I said above is now completely discounted if Bae was falling for 150 years (but it only felt like an instant to him). Ouch. With the head spinning again.

"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"Here’s a question then: if it took Rumple 300 years for his abilities to become powerful enough to create/write/whatever he did to the Curse, were his abilities strong enough to create this creeptastic Shadow? His abilities right around the time Bae left were confined to turning people to snails and healing scrapes. He was still more physically violent than magically. Even the BF doubted his abilities.

As to the shield: I agree but I think that was plot driven. Cora and Regina needed to get inside in order for the other action to take place. So I don’t know if it’s so much that her magic weaker as it is, the story couldn’t have been told if Emma’s shield didn’t come down.
And right, Rumple and Regina didn’t know how, but Emma’s magic is very different from theirs. She is magic and true love incarnate. I think she has abilities no one else could even dream of because of her special nature.

I also think you are 100% correct. Rumple is clinging to being wanted because in his eyes, apart from Belle, he’s never been wanted or loved and that has had devastating emotional impact on him. His father rejects him as a young boy (cut scene from Manhattan), Milah rejects him after he flees the war to come home for her and Bae, Bae “rejects” who Rumple becomes (in Rumple’s mind who he became FOR Bae), Cora rejects him for power, and so when he finally finds someone who wants him, he runs from it because surely it can’t be true. But lo and behold it really was as he discovers in SB some 30 yrs later. But what happens? He looses people slowly, all over again. First he looses Belle to Hook and the town line. Then he looses Bae again because Bae still can’t accept who Rumple became or the idea that he’s changed, and then Cora comes to town where he is reminded that she chose power over him, right before she tries to stab him in the heart, and then just when he thinks he could get Belle back, he looses her again.
But there is someone who wants him, and even though he may not want HER per se, he wants the feeling of being wanted. It’s a heady drug.So I don’t think it has anything to do with just wanting Belle’s body or anyone that looks like her, but rather he has always seen himself has unwanted and unloved and for right now, someone at least wants him and that is unbelievably hard to give up.

"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"And this is where the Rumple theory falls apart. H and K said in the podcast that the shadow followed Bae and that they arrived in London at the same time, so I don’t think Rumple made the Shadow but I DO think it’s an offshoot of Bae.

If you’re not core cast, I think Emma is going to magic those people back to the EF and save them from the fail safe bomb.
