KeymasterAs usual with this show: does no one think of the peasants!! I mean “congrats! You have absolutely no marketable skills in this modern world but you gotta make do here now. By the way that’s called a toilet!”
And yes, it’s very OUaT to have a few people decide the entire fate of everyone around them.
Still it’s incredibly meta, this idea of all the characters we’ve ever met living forever in Storybrooke, Maine.

KeymasterNot enough Emma. Too much Regina.
That’s out of the writers hands, though. If JMo told them she’d come back for one day of filming–and one day only–it doesn’t actually amount to much in TV time. Josh and Ginny filmed for two or three days and it was still only two full scenes for them.

KeymasterIt’s was pretty redundant from last year when the dwarves declared her Queen of SB and I’m slightly baffled as to how an entire election and party was planned and executed without Regina knowing but…magic handwave
All that being said, it was really beautiful and I think Regina’s character goes down as the most successful in OUAT.

KeymasterI don’t understand why he might never get back to Belle because he is mortal I thought that was the whole point?
Yeah I didn’t get that either. Nor did I really get how he was made mortal with the stroke of a pen?
But I’m glad he did it because he didn’t want his friend to die and because he didn’t want his adopted daughter to be fatherless, something Rumple understands all too well. Rumple wasn’t even thinking of Belle at that point, it was just about doing what was right. And Regina’s reaction was the most heartbreaking.

Keymaster1) What was your favorite episode of S7B?
Leaving Storybrooke, for sure. It really was a great finale.
Runner up: The Guardian (7×18)
2) What was your least favorite episode of S7B?
Flower Child (7×19)–what an absolutely appalling episode
Runner Up: Secret Garden (7×11)
3) What was your favorite/least favorite moment of S7B?
Everything Alice and Robin; Rumple’s sacrifice; Henry breaking the curse with Regina after he phoned home and talked to himself.
Least favorite: anything to do with Hansel and the Candy Killer.
4) We didn’t really meet any new characters in S7B but overall, which character who hadn’t appeared in S1-6 did you most enjoy? And which one did you not enjoy at all?
Alice! Sign me alllll the way up for a series about her and Robin.
Ella never grew on me. One of the smartest decision the writers made was to keep her out of the way in the second half.
5) If you could change anything about S7B what would it be?
Less plot, more character. A thing I say almost every year. The good stuff is what happens between the characters. The plot nonsense of Gothel and Facilier was ridiculous and a waste of valuable time.
6) Did OUAT deserve another year? Or was it right to cancel it now?
It was time. Trying to go on another year would have really stretched the narrative capabilities.
7) Final Grade/Ranking for S7B?
A solid B

KeymasterConveniently forgetting Neal has been a hallmark of this show for years. I never expected it to change on the final night. MRJ was in London during most of the finale filming and while I wish they could have worked him in somehow (a voice over would have killed them??) I’m glad Nealfire got a better send off in the 100th episode than he did in 315, lying on the cold hard ground.
But there were some tiny moments sprinkled in, meant to remind us of that Papa and Bae relationship. Namely, Rumple seeing Alice (his adopted daughter, more or less) almost fall through a portal while Nook (her father) fought to hold on. The very thing that Rumple didn’t do, years and years and years ago. It’s no wonder Rumple sacrificed himself for Nook and Alice.

KeymasterI keep saying this, I know, but I honestly can’t believe this is the last one of these I am going to do…
GENERAL: I don’t have a lot to say, honestly. My thoughts are all below. Right now I’m nostalgic and I’m sad and I’m happy and a lot more. I can’t believe it’s over…
Rating: 9.5/10
LIKED
–8:15 on the clock. One more time.
–According to Alice: Seattle has great coffee and too much rain.
–“Intruders!!” LOL; glad Granny had her crossbow ready
–Jared Gilmore has come so far. He did such a great job as a bitter and menacing teenager heartbroken over the death of his grandparents and his mother abandoning him.
–“Is this a dream?” “Well, if it is, it’s an excellent one.” I never really shipped Outlaw Queen but that was a gorgeous segment.
–First big cry of the night: Snow and Charming taking off their masks. I have missed them so much.
–Snow gets one final giant almost cringe worthy hope speech!
–Second big cry of the night: “If this is how I have to go out, showing you there are people in the world who love you, no matter what you do…then that’s a worthy end for me.”
–“I am the strongest version of us….you don’t do the right thing for a reward. You do it because it’s the right thing to do.” It’s been a long road but I’ll always be Rumple’s girl. Goodbye, my Imp.
MIXED
–The snowglobe is bigger on the inside!
–The idea that there’s a book for every hero in every realm ever is very interesting. It’s the kind of idea that deserves more than a fly by plot in the series finale. It has legs, it should have been given room to grow.
–“Because you were the closet thing I ever had to a friend.” I wish we had more of Nook, Rumple and Alice. Again, too much narrative bloat in this season and the writers missed what would have been far more interesting.
–I’ll never not love a good dreamcatcher on this show, but I really wish Rumple would remember that he has a dead son he wants to see again; dreamcatchers will always be tied to Neal (and Emma) so that was a perfect time to throw in a Neal reference.
–Using the Dark Curse and pieces of everyone’s heart to bring all the realms to Storybrooke is…extremely meta and weird and I both hate it and love it?
DISLIKED
–The pen stripped Rumple of his immortality? How is that even possible? Magical MacGuffin for the win, one more time!
–So Wish Realm Rumple’s plan to send all the heroes into their own realm, by themselves? Gosh that’s a lot of portals and realms.
–Is anyone else bothered that this castle has a giant ball room that one has one thing to sit on. Like, what is the purpose of this room?
–Who are these other two random black knights rolling the books around? How are they on the family’s side? Are the magicked?
–The afterlife sure is foggy!
–“Some time later…” One more time!
–Lily’s father was Zorro! The writers are evil people who threw that in there just to make us all shut up. Well played, Adam and Eddy. Well played.

KeymasterI have been…surprisingly emotional today. I honestly didn’t think I’d feel anything but relief but, as I should have expected emotions are far more complicated.
