KeymasterWell, it’s obviously a Milah hint. We all know she’s coming back for 514. But you would think they would take this opportunity to confirm or deny it since it’s one of the big things the fandom is talking about right now (read: pestering Adam about)
Also, this answer upsets me, once again they make it look like Neal only connection in the show is about one ship and all about Emma, when he is related by blood with Henry and Rumple.
That.

KeymasterBut first and foremost, Neal can be the dad Henry never got.
How? MRJ’s not coming back full time. He’s literally contracted to another (very competitive) network/studio with rumors of a second season already in the works for his new show.
Secondly, if Hook ends up being out of the picture by the end of this arc, Neal not only becomes more important in Henry’s life, but also Emma’s.
LOL
Oh you really think ABC would let them write off Hook/Colin. The same ABC who saw the dailies of S2A and said “more Hook here! Put more Hook. Can you add more Hook? There needs to be more Hook.” (true story)
But I don’t think Neal and Hook could coexist.
Of course they could had the show not thrown away its core of “family first” thesis because if TPTB were really that intent on CS sailing, then fine. You don’t actually need to kill Neal to make that happen. But they did with what A and E called the giant reset button of episode 311, so episode 315 happened.
If this is anything, it’s a one off, either one or two episodes and done.
Also, I think a lot of Neal fans lost too much trust in the writers after they killed off Neal in the first place to believe the writers could handle Neal’s re-appearance well.
I don’t trust the writers to write themselves out of a paper bag at this point.

KeymasterI will say until prove me wrong, that I don’t think he is back and I say that since there are several ouat members that are advocate of bullies keep out, and 2 of them are making a Psa together, that they invited mrj to be part of it, in fact mrj even started following one of them recently bc he already followed the other, so yeah, he may be in van simply go be part of a Psa against bullying and meet with Colin and Sean, probably the other say was the 1st encounter and now was the goodbye one.
I think that’s a beautiful dream but…
with all the evidence on hand, I think MRJ is putting in an appearance as Neal. It’ll be horrible and wasteful and destroy his character even further. He’ll tell Emma that he’s happy she found Tallahassee with Hook and that Hook is totally worth saving whereas he, Neal, is not.

Keymaster*rubs head wearily*
I don’t know. I think the evidence is mounting that Neal is appearing is some (probably lackluster and illogical) capacity. I need to start preparing for that.

KeymasterHow would you MRJ fans feel about a warning from Neal in the beginning, then we don’t see him, but he comes back by the end of the season?
Come back for *what* though? He comes back, helps out the heroes and then fades into the background and into being forgotten once more? How is that better? Back permanently? Well, that’s not going to happen because MRJ is on another show that hasn’t begun airing yet so no one knows if it’ll get renewed or not, though NBC is putting it on the hype train. And secondly, what would Neal be coming back permanently to? A true love who’s dating Hook and is sharing a heart with him? A father who’s gone super duper evilz, a son who only remembers to mourn his father every 10 episodes or so?
The best answer was said by @Nevermore in the “Neal’s Warning” thread
At this point most of the main characters for whom Neal was central (Emma, Rumple and Henry) have moved on to the point of being barely recognizable. I don’t think there is a place for Neal on the show as it stands

KeymasterBelle is now in the Underworld. Did Zelena kill her? Was that the deal Zelena made with Hades to get out of Hell?
Doubtful. They aren’t about to kill a pregnant woman and they’ve all but confirmed that Belle is preggers.

KeymasterAnd one of the things we learned in Screenwriting was that to add higher stakes, the writer can give the hero a time limit they need to complete their mission. If the heroes only have, lets say, three days to find Hook or else they die, it make for more drama.
That’s a good guess. That stuff happens *all* the time. I’d say it’s a bargain with Hades, though. Emma has X amount of time to find Hook and get him out of the Underworld or she has to remain in the Underworld as well. Hades gets two new souls (and the soul of the Savior at that) but if Emma succeeds, Hades releases Hook’s soul and doesn’t come for him until “the proper time” or something. The whole arc is a bit of a gendered swap Orpheus and Eurydice and that story has a deal as well: if Orpheus can get his beloved out of Hades by walking in front of her and never looking back, then Eurydice can go back to the land of the living. Spoiler Alert: it doesn’t work. It’s not a time limit like you suggest, but it does add higher stakes.
