Filming is happening in Steveston on the 27th & 28th!

Is it still 510 or is it 511 even? So that, with every season finale EVER, we’re going to see exactly what happens in filming shots. lol.

Would Doctor Who count or not? We all know Clara’s leaving.

    Quote

Like Matt said, it’s American TV (and probably American broadcast to be super specific) and I’m sure she counts since she’s not a co-lead, the idea of a companion is a co-lead, but not specifically Clara Oswald. DW is more single lead with a (quite) small supporting cast.

If it is Hades, it should be James Woods so perhaps they are going for Lucifer over Hades.

    Quote

Not necessarily. James Woods is a big name. It’s unlikely they could get him. So, I’d say they are going for Hades because Lucifer has too many Christian ties, whereas Hades is Greek myth and thus more “friendly” on this show which has already stuck their toe in the Greek pond.

    For example:

    Sam Winchester as Lucifer

John Milton as Satan in The Devil’s Advocate

    Lucifer in Reaper

    The Devil in Being Human

    …the list goes on

In much of media, the devil figure is dressed in dapper clothing, resplendent in his finery to belie the ill intent underneath.

    Yeah, it’s the Devil/Hades.

What a grown up Merida (upon the completion of the cartoon’s character arc) could really offer Rumple by way of “bravery” is the willingness to accept the consequences of one’s decisions, which Rumple hasn’t always been very good at. In other words, she might teach him to stop experiencing himself as a victim — which would go a long way to helping him accept love more broadly.

I would applaud that because it’s deep and complex and would make a nice narrative through point from season one to the present.

I just…well. I guess we will see come Sunday and onward if the show is still capable of writing deep and complex message and not rely on cliche shiny buzzworthy silliness (ie: being brave comes down to wielding this weapon and fighting and simply yelling the word BRAVE a lot)

I agree with both @Slurpeez and @Keb. With Keb’s theory, it would fit pretty heavily with Beauty and the Beast and how the Beast has to learn to love and be kind. But…I agree that the dialogue suggests that Rumple is already there (and I would argue that Rumple has always known how to love, he just runs from it out of fear of rejection). (I miss my complex Imp)

But in the long run, I think Emma’s plan to Heroize (new word!) Rumple is going to fail because she seems to believe that being a hero means combat bravery and while that’s certainly important, it’s not actually how the show (and hopefully most humans) would define heroism, in such limited terms, and that it’s going to take someone else to pull that sword.

It’s also entirely possible there’s part of the prophecy/sies we haven’t heard yet. Maybe Merlin also predicted Arthur’s downfall, and he believes that without Merlin, that part won’t come true.

    Quote

That is so equally possible, though Baby! Arthur seemed pretty pleased with what he had been told overall.

Merlin’s appearance to Emma is the only weird bit I see–because the communication with the apprentice took place entirely by magic. At least the bit we saw.

    Quote

And I think the puffy blue smoke thingy is just foreshadowing that Merlin can project and take on any appearance he wants. (squirrel!)

If Merlin cans see the future, then why did he choose Arthur? Isn’t there someone else more worthy? Or are Merlin’s future seeing abilities as sketchy as Rumples seer?

I think Arthur is worthy, he just became obsessed about the wrong thing. All that dedication and hard work and myopic effort to finding the missing piece of Excalibur could have gone toward healing the kingdom. It would have been a success. He truly could have been a very good king. But, like so many other villains, he got distracted by shiny shiny things and focused on the wrong endeavor. So, it’s not that Merlin was lying or wrong or that his powers aren’t up to snuff, it’s that Arthur made a choice, largely based on Arthur’s own understanding of the prophecy and what it entailed (he must have the sword and he must have Guinevere). If he does not have those, then he can’t be the King.
