KeymasterI already count Rumple as brave. He sacrificed his life in 3×11 to save his family. What truer testament of bravery is there than self-sacrifice? Learning to shoot arrows and clash swords isn’t going to teach him what he already knows: heroes sacrifice themselves to protect others.
omg THIS.

KeymasterNo, I think 311 (was it?) hopped around the most. It was all over the place anyway.
Oh wow, I forgot about that one. Let’s see:
1) Snowing
2) Tink and Hook
3) Mary Margaret and Henry
4) Rumple and Belle
5) Present day SB
6) Flashforward to NYC one year later
Yup, you’re right.

KeymasterDid this episode have the most various timelines we’ve seen thus far in one episode?
1) Camelot of “Long Long Ago”—when Arthur/Guinevere were kids
2) Camelot of “Long Ago”–after Arthur pulled the sword but pre-obsession
3) Camelot of 5 years ago—the longer flashbacks of Arthur, Lance, and Guinevere (also…someone is going to have to explain the five years thing)
4) Camelot of 6 weeks ago–SB gang and Camelot gang
5) Present Day SB

KeymasterMy question, Slurpeez, is really this : what are you hoping for? What do you expect? Just that CS is never declared TL?
It all comes down to the following: there are some people who’re right for you (aka Neal), some people who’re wrong for you (aka Hook) and some people you just choose (aka Henry). In the end, I predict a choice will have to be made between Hook and Henry, and Henry will win hands down. I may be wrong (wouldn’t be the first time). But until I see the very last episode ever, I’m not ready to declare Hook the last person standing.
Fair enough. You *know* I would love for you to be right. I mean, come on. We’ve been fighting the good SF fight for (pretty much) four years together. We’re two of the last standing veterans of the great/terrible/ulcer inducing CSF thread. You know I want more than anything for Hook to not be the endgame. (or for Hook to just be eaten by a literal crocodile. God I’ll take either, seriously).
I just…I just don’t think you will be. I can’t just can’t do the hope thing ever again.

KeymasterNow I can’t help but picture a training montage between Rumple and Merida, with the Sara Bareilles song “Brave” playing in the background. “Honestly, I wanna see you be BRAVE!”
Why are you giving them ideas, Matt??

KeymasterMy question, Slurpeez, is really this : what are you hoping for? What do you expect? Just that CS is never declared TL?
Because the way I see it, it’ll go one of two ways
1) Never confirmed as TL but CS end up together anyway because “learning to love again” “non magical true love isn’t the only sort of love there is…” ect
2) Confirmed as TL in spite of all the things you’ve pointed out (and that I agree with) because of mumbo jumbo magical handwave.
I mean, either way it’s not going to stop that ship and (imo) it’s not going to stop them from being declared TL in spite of all the problems and all the times they’ve showed that CS isn’t TL because this show….very very good at ignoring things they’ve shown and said in the past.

KeymasterLOOKS like MERLIN was in the tree for a lot longer then we thought …
Which, from a purist Arthurian mythology standpoint, is really problematic.

KeymasterThere is a pattern to CS =/= TL and SF = TL. It’s not reading into it. Clearly, Emma is not over Neal.
you act like you have to convince me. I know it’s there. I know all this. The larger point is that the writers aren’t going to do an about face and have Emma break it off for good with the pirate because SF was true love and she’s not over Neal.
Consider this: while Emma was making dreamcatcher, the thing that stopped the terrible Rumple voice for awhile, was Hook and a field of flowers. A flower that Emma kept in present day and was cradling, much like cradling the dreamcatcher in the promo for next week
That’s text too. Yes it’s bait and they are doing it to both sides but only one of those is going to have any sort of happy resolution. And it’s not us.

KeymasterCan you teach someone to be brave? Do you throw them in the lion’s den and force them to sleep next to the giant beast and that instills bravery in you? I don’t think that’s how it works. I think you’re either brave or your not. It’s not really a learned trait but gosh darn it, Merida is going to be the one to do it! Because her movie is called BRAVE you guys. So clearly she’s the best one to teach Rumple how to be a hero.

KeymasterNice thing about studying English…you can choose to read what’s in the text instead of what the author says about what’s in the text. Neal is there. He matters.
Of course he matters. But we’re not writing the show and therefore our own readings end up mattering very little because the authors text are what we given on a weekly basis. I can read Neal into every single scene in this show…and the writers will STILL refuse to acknowledge him.
