I just wonder…what is it going to take to put OUAT back on track!
Here’s the thing: nothing. I don’t mean that as a hatred, I think it’s just a standard fact at this point. The problem is that you could do a total reversal of what happened to us that made us rather bitter and angry, but the result would be that the other side (the CSers and even to an extent the SQers) would be angry that claim that the show was going down hill. This is why you don’t play to your fandom. This is why you stick to your original guns and not deviate based on what is “hot”

He’s driven by his magic but he still has free will over what he does too. At the end of the day, everyone needs to be held accountable for their actions. Even Rumple.
I don’t think it’s that he’s labelled an addict that’s the issue because I don’t think anyone denies that Rumple’s an addict. It’s what he does (and how the writers discuss his addiction) that’s the problem. Even if Rumple never did another bad thing ever again, he’d still be addict. You don’t stop being addicted to something just because you no longer partake in the thing that you’re addicted to. It’s that A and E’s expression of Rumple’s addiction (and only Rumple’s addiction) is that it makes him a very bad man who does very bad things and because he’s addict he’s also a bad person (and the devil himself as Eddy said once) but other people who are likewise addicted to magic (Regina, Cora, Zelena) aren’t the devil and aren’t likewise as heavily vilified. In fact in some cases they’ve been redeemed and can use light magic or general magic for whatever means but not have to suffer any consequences.

I get what you’re saying. For me, I think one of the things hindering a real look at addiction and breaking the cycle of addictive abuse on this show is that the writers haven’t built any sort of support system for addiction that isn’t magical handwavey/ plot devicey at worst and sped through at warp speed at best. Think about Regina. She was an addict too–in fact the writers showed her literally sniffing magic (a drug image if ever there was one) in S202 but yet her addiction to magic is never dealt with in any meaningful way. It just because something that she can use both for good and for bad but without any of the real world consequences that real life addicts would be going through. But with Rumple and the show, the writers harp on how much of an addict he is and then couple it with being a coward, self-loathing and being the devil/pure black hat. I’m not asking for AA (or the magical equivalent) to appear on the show but there needs to be something deeper than a magical hat sucking.

Yes I don’t think it’s ever going to play out in any significant way past this finale.

But we’re going to Camelot! The Author and the Apprentice can seemingly go wherever they want. Isaac couldn’t because he didn’t have any ink.
If there are Enchanted Trees in Camelot (and we don’t know if it is its own world or another off shoot of FTL, though the latter seems more likely given the connections to Camelot in show already) then fine. But for the *moment* there are no more enchanted trees.

I don’t think so. Another quill can be made. It just needs to come from that super special tree. And we know more ink can be procured from another ‘savior’.

Do you need special ink to record history, or just to change the story? Could Henry just use regular old ink? Or squid ink? (The answer is yes. You don’t need a special pen to record events. He can break out his crayolas if he wants).
Of course you can use any old thing to record events, but that’s not what make you the Author. The Author is defined as being chosen by the Quill to record with it using special ink.

But the pages were blank. So the story did happen, but it didn’t stick. Which is why everyone remembers. Just like they remember their cursed Storybrooke lives. The magic did happen, but the ‘curse’ was broken. Which is why the Apprentice told Henry he couldn’t bring back Neal, but Hook was alive.
Except their SB lives DID happen. It wasn’t “undone.” They remembered and it really happened, despite not being recorded at all. And Neal’s death wasn’t recorded either. Nothing that happened in the Lost Year was recorded because Henry wasn’t the new Author and the Old Author was locked inside the book, but not recording anything.
And if the AU didn’t happen it means the entire AU never happened—including Henry’s undoing of the AU which means that the AU DID happen. What I’m saying is that the AU and it’s ending doesn’t make a lot of sense when you really start to think about it (which is something A and E never want us to do because we begin to see some serious fault lines). I’m not saying it wasn’t fun to watch, but the logic behind it is incredibly lacking and it’s based on the fact that A and E’s world and magic building skills are nonexistent.
