ParticipantAbout the second sneak peek, I think Snow is right about David being desperate to feel like a hero again. However, he’s just a pawn in King Arthur’s game. Something tells me that Merlin is in that tree for a reason; perhaps Arthur entrapped his old friend in there with some sort of magical device, precisely because Merlin warned Kid!Emma NOT to remove Excalibur from the sword of else “bad things would happen.” So the removal of Excalibur by Arthur the first time might’ve actually been a really foreboding, bad thing. Now, Arthur is using David to try and reunite the sword hilt with the dagger, which also seems like a really bad idea.

ParticipantThat’s not how I’m reading the scene but who knows. His name is on the Sword (and Emma’s on the Dagger) meaning Emma is still the Dark One. You can still see her name in one of those above shots.
So both of their names are written on Excalibur. That’s either hopeful or really ominous. The latest sneak peek from 5×4 has David wanting to help Arthur reunite the sword hilt and the dagger — which Snow is against thanks to a tip-off from Lancelot not to trust Arthur. So something tells me that reuniting that dagger and the sword hilt may not be such a great idea if it plays exactly into King Arthur’s desire. Come to think of it, Merlin did warn KidEmma! not to remove the sword from the stone or else “bad things would happen.” I’m still wondering what the consequence of not only removing it, but of reuniting the blade with its other half, will be.

ParticipantSo…thus far this season the writers have been harping on Regina as the new Savior, but Dark Swan woke up Tabula Rasa Rumple in order to mold him into the hero she needs, but it’s all a bait and switch for Hook as the seasonal hero?
It doesn’t look to me like Hook is the new hero. Rather, he looks to be the new dark one who is fighting Hero!Rumple. So ask yourselves how exactly did Hook get his name on the reforged sword. Maybe Hook is the one who reunites the dagger and the hilt after Hero!Rumple pulls the hilt out of the stone.

ParticipantMany of its characters have been artificially remolded to suit some kind of new direction. That’s also where a ton of retcon started happening. (I’m sure I’m missing other examples) So, I have two questions. If we take this OUAT as an entirely new killer robot ahem, I mean show, what is it about? What are its core values? And two, what the heck happened???
THIS! Apparently even saying you think the real reason for this shift is because Baelfire was written out in favor of a different character is no longer tolerated in ther general forum (or anywhere else in the fandom except this thread). Even saying so for non-shipping reasons is taboo. People don’t want to hear about it because it’s “in the past” and so on. *le sigh*

ParticipantIt’s just a shame Baelfire, Rumple’s very raison d’être for 3 seasons, has been forgotten by the writers. It should’ve been the shawl instead of the cutlass that woke up Rumple.

ParticipantMy guess is that the main reason they decided not to use the shawl was because it would have been obvious. They wanted the item to be a twist at the end of the episode, and they wanted to do that scene with Emma tricking Hook. However, by doing so they sacrificed the characters’ own logic. Belle clearly would have known about the shawl.
Let’s be real. The actual reason Bae’s shawl wasn’t used is because Baelfire was written out of the show in favor of Hook.

ParticipantHook’s “love” for Emma certainly wasn’t “unwavering” last episode.
Yeah, but the synopsis is talking about the past six weeks in Camelot, not present-day SB.
