ParticipantI said this in the promo pics thread, but if not for Urusla’s age discrepancy, this could be how Hook got out of NL, if she offered him a way to do it, on the condition he take her with him. But…T-WORD. And that also assumes that their use of FTL in the press release is just a generic term for “stuff that happened somewhere other than our world.”
That would be interesting to finally have that question answered of how Hook left NL to return to the EF. I’d assumed that Peter Pan just let Hook leave, knowing in advance that it would lead him to Henry eventually. PP had the pic of Henry centuries before he was born, so I’d been assuming PP knew the Author, or knew about the prophesy that Henry was the one with the heart of the truest believer.

ParticipantI was thinking about the title for 4×17. While I know the back-story will likely refer to Robin Hood, intermixed with his dealings with Mr. Gold in Manhattan, I’m also starting to think the current-day story in SB will all refer to Emma. I think the title has multiple meanings.
My theory is based on a few things.
– We’ve heard Mr. Gold & Maleficent say that Emma has the heart with the darkest potential.
– We saw the Chernabog go after Emma, which would seem to confirm that her heart does indeed have the darkest potential.
– We’ve already gotten a glimpse of exactly what is needed to give the villains their advantage based on the “Dark Side” promo for 4b. Mr. Gold’s plan is to use the QoD to corrupt Emma Swan, because it’s her heart which is needed to turn the tides to give the villains their happy endings. In the promo, Rumple said,There are three ways to corrupt a hero, three ways to tarnish a savior. For Cruella, Ursula, and Maleficent to attain their happy endings, we must find someone whose heart can be molded, someone who’s heart is brimming with blackness, who’s ready to walk on the dark side.
-It sounds to me like what Mr. Gold is actually seeking isn’t just using Emma’s magic for dark purposes. To me, it sounds like what Mr. Gold is actually seeking is Emma’s literal heart. Now, I know Cora was unable to take Emma’s heart, precisely because Emma is the product of true love. But what if she were able to remove her own heart willingly, the way Henry was able to remove his own heart to give to Peter Pan? And I predict that we’ll see Emma’s heart, and that it’s going to be the color gold, like Henry’s is. Hence the title Heart of Gold.
-Now there are theories that the villains will actually succeed by the season finale, meaning even former villains like the Evil Queen, get their happiness, but at the expense of the heroes. For this to be the case, the QoD and Rumple’s plan in corrupting the heart of the savior would actually have to succeed. Emma will willingly remove her own heart, it will be gold in nature to start, but as she slowly crosses over to the dark side, it will become darkened, thereby enabling Gold’s dark magic to change the story so that the odds are stacked against the heroes, rather than the villains, in getting their happy endings."That’s how you know you’ve really got a home. Participant1) The formula. Everything about this show now is formulaic. Villain comes to SB–has connection to either Rumple/Regina and the Charmings–Villains has messed up backstory–Villain has some sort of magical object that will make her win–shenanigans–Villain defeated at 11th hour. Repeat
That is what writers call a melodrama stock plot.

ParticipantOther Side of the Mirror has a great, snark-tastic recent podcast about the first episode of 4b. Too bad they discontinued their weekly podcasting for the most part, because a lot of what we’ve been saying, they’ve picked up on. It’s one of the more critical, yet truthful, OUAT fan podcasts out there.

ParticipantI was wondering about this particular episode. Is it the content that turned people off?

ParticipantPretty big drop, though OUAT was still the number 1 show last night. Daylight Savings definitely did a number on all the shows. It’ll probably adjust up to a 1.9, too. Question is, will these numbers drop even more?
But Daylight Savings was last week, not this week. And the ratings were much higher last week, too.

ParticipantI still think Agnes is playing more than just plain old Lily, the grown daughter of Mal. I still think she’s the current-day sorceress or anti-savior.

ParticipantThis bothers me so much. I have no problem with drugs on TV but an 8pm Disney show that keeps getting the label Family Show? Eek
That is exactly what I thought. “Toadstools” is what stoned Mal called the diluted sleeping spell. While it might go over a 5-year-old’s head, an intelligent 12-year-old might catch on. This show really isn’t kid-friendly, at all. Adultery, excessive binge drinking and now drugs on a show that supposedly the entire family can watch together? I mean, no. Just no.

ParticipantSo, what’s left of the B&tB story? Their separation and his “death” and transformation.
The problem is Rumple already faced his death and his redemption by sacrificing himself to save Belle and Bae. The trouble is that he got resurrected as the Dark One. I guess what’s left is for “the inner Beast” to die for the man to be reborn. But yeah, I’m having a hard time seeing Rumple being set free from his dark one’s curse unless it’s another self-sacrifice to give Belle her happy ending (even if it’s without him). What else could Rumple possibly do to show his redemption? I’m not saying all hope is lost, but how many lies and manipulations must occur before enough is enough? After the first manipulation, Rumple had his window to come clean, but didn’t. He got caught in his tangle of lies, and Belle banished him because of it. Now he’s been lying to her, pretending to be an Oxford linguist and a pirate, to get back into town to get his dagger back. How far is too far before the point of no return?

ParticipantIt’s the Charming family way of thinking. “So long as we’re okay, who gives a crap about anyone else?”
Well, that’s pretty much EVERY character on this show, with the possible exceptions of Archie, Henry, Belle, Neal and Will (based on him helping Alice in WL).
