ParticipantA better solution would have been to let Belle go with Snow back to SB, from where she could have then traveled to NYC. Belle being in A Land Without Magic where Hades has no power would have been a sufficient explanation and would have let EdR take her maternity leave.

ParticipantSo despite Ruby Slippers being very rushed, was anyone else kind of pleased they got TLK so fast while CS still hasn’t?

Now if only Rumbelle can get their TLK to work …

ParticipantWhile I’m sure Rumple will find a way to fix this, this relationship has become very tiresome. Just last episode, Belle declared that she wasn’t going to allow Rumple to use dark magic, but then she just used dark magic from Zelena! It’s a sleeping curse. Just after she told Rumple she’d no longer allow him to darken her soul (something I don’t get at all, since pushing Gaston in the River of Souls was obviously an accident), Belle turned right around and sought help from a woman who tortured Rumple and killed Nealfire. Also, why does Belle think her father of all people can save her? Isn’t he the one who tried to force her into a loveless, political marriage? *Sigh*

ParticipantRuby and Dorothy were pretty cute, but there really weren’t any “seeds” from S5a (other than the tale Hook’s dad told about being awoken from a sleeping curse by a nurse who fell in love with him as he slept). At least in the case of Ruby and Dorothy, they had at least met prior to Dorothy falling under the sleeping curse (unlike in the case of Hook’s dad and the nurse); yet, it’s really quite unbelievable when any couple falls in love so quickly. Sure, each person can be attracted to the other, but true love at first sight? Come on!

ParticipantI’m 99% certain the same-sex couple will be Ruby and Dorothy. The episode title “Ruby Slippers” is a dead giveaway as being a ‘ship’ name for the two of them. Clearly, the slippers are silver in the BTS pics, so the ‘ruby’ part of the title refers to the character named Ruby. (And this is coming from a writing team that claims not to write ‘ships’).

ParticipantHades’ own hope over a future with Zelena might be causing the flowers to spring forth, but he doesn’t want to admit it to himself. Maybe his own hope of a life with her will free him of his curse and will be the UW’s undoing. Hades and Zelena’s TLK will probably be what allows Emma et al to return to SB.

ParticipantLiked – EdR: She actually impressed me with her acting, something she hasn’t done in a very long time. As always, Bobby Carlyle acted his socks off. They play well off of each other. The conflict between Belle and Rumple is interesting and finally being expored with more depth. Also, I thought Belle and Hades’ interaction was so creepy but well done. Even Gaston was a creepy sort of excellent villain–charming at first but devious and dangerous underneath.
Disliked – Snow White. Emma was finally talking some sense about feeling guilty for bringing Henry and everyone else to save Hook, and so she should! It was a really dumb and dangerous thing to do. I know Snow likes to give annoying little speeches about hope, but I thought it silly for her to assuage Emma’s guilt for bringing her son to the UW. While it was Snow’s choice to come to the UW, it was just plain dumb, and she and David clearly feel just as guilty for leaving their newborn son behind (as the last episode showed). Emma expressing regret about dragging Henry to the UW shouldn’t be glossed over because of “love” because it was a really poor parenting decision (as was the decision made by Regina, Robin, and the Charmings regarding their respective children). *cue Regina’s eye roll.*
I also thought it was dumb for Belle to arrive at the conclusion that “darkness always wins” just because she accidentally knocked Gaston into the River of Lost Souls. It wasn’t like she actually agreed to Hades’ deal or compromised her standards. It was really an accident, since clearly she wasn’t looking where she was going when she stumbled backwards into Gaston. It was an illogical conclusion to draw, and the fact that she was beating herself up about her moral failure (which it wasn’t) annoyed me. I just hope she doesn’t therefore let Rumple indulge his dark side just because she thinks she’s just as guilty of “murder” as he is for killing Gaston in the first place and then concealing it from her.

ParticipantWhile I agree that a plurality of moral viewpoints can exist, Belle also has a strong point. Just because many people have different perspectives, that doesn’t mean there is no such thing as right or wrong. The torture of innocent children is not a good or honorable act, no matter how a person like Gaston tries to spin it.
