I loved the Doktoberfest goblet.
Belle: “dude – that’s not a magical item. Remember when we all got hammered for Doc’s birthday?”
David: “Yeah I know – don’t need it to be magic. Got a better idea.”
Arthur: what magical feast day is Doktoberfest? Will they have another? Perhaps there’s a ball?
[adrotate group="5"]swanning-offParticipantI think the secret is something to do with Emma herself. I think Snow knew while she was pregnant about her unborn daughter having the potential for the greatest darkness. Perhaps she convinced Charming that they had to perform some sort of exorcism on their unborn child, and so they went to the QoD for help. Rumple knows about Emma having a heart with a potential for darkness, so perhaps there was some prophesy involving the savior and an anti-savior (aka Lily). If Lily is the sister of Emma, then it would be all the juicer (though totally over-the-top as far as ret-conning goes).
Just chucking it out there…
in Terry Pratchett’s* Witches Abroad we meet Lilith the Fairy Godmother, born Lily Weatherwax (Esmerelda, aka Granny Weatherwax’s sister). The whole crux of that book is that Esme resented Lily’s turn to evil (despite her pleasant exterior) because it forced the grumpy, ornery ‘bad’ witch Esme to be The Good One.
Anyway… it would be interesting if there was a secret long lost twin called Lily for similar reasons. Emma has, since she’s embraced magic, had to be The Good One, no matter what she wants to do – she’s The Saviour. A twin not restrained by such rules would be very interesting indeed. And if the reasons for the twins’ separation is down to “fate intervening” *coughShadyFairycough* even more so…
although it would also be a very tired trope… but isn’t everything on OUAT? Isn’t that the point of fairytales, to an extent?
* sniff. RIP. 🙁
swanning-offParticipant, we saw all those Grecian helmets and things in Rumple’s house in the Enchanted Forest and I just thought that was odd
I was wondering why Rumplestiltskin had Magneto’s helmet from the Xmen in his collection – Grecian helmets makes far more sense!

The gauntlet was a bit weird but whatevs. Cruella looks amazing, as does Malificent but Ursula’s costume looked pretty tacky.
Loved the “you’ve confused me with my mother. You don’t need a speech. You need a drinking buddy. Shots?” at the bar, and the reveal of the blank story books. I don’t care much for all the shipping wars in this fandom but I do like the Swan Queen friendship. It’s up there with Captain Charming as my BroTP.
swanning-offParticipantI dunno what the plot is, all I know is CRUELLA LOOKS AMAZING.
December 8, 2014 at 8:55 am in reply to: FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS from this episode 4X10 SHATTERED SIGHT ? #292428swanning-offParticipantGreat episode. Just raced by. When Ingrid was having her Big Feels moment I was going “seriously? We’re already at the climax?!!”
Loved all the snark, all the witty one liners (I feel the writers had a field day with this one) and the gags like Hook being Home Alone-d by Henry.
Still don’t like the Snow Queen as a character. She was just too over the top. Too earnest, too unhinged, too poorly thought out a plan… Much like early Regina, she couldn’t see past her own interpretation of events to what was actually going on. The resolution to her story though, THAT was excellent story telling. Yeah, I get that some people might be uncomfortable with the suicide sacrifice line, but as someone who has had plenty of suicidal ideation, I don’t find it triggering at all when it’s in this hyper fantastic context. (and as an aside, having conversations about mental health and suicide/self harm should not be avoided under the excuse of “not wanting to trigger you” – that’s nonsense.)
Her plan was just bad. There’s other words I could use, and have used on my Twitter, but here the censor police would swoop in and edit my post so we’ll just stick with “bad”. Imma gonna do something that will destroy all the people you actually care about so you only care about me and we have happy sisterly love??? It’s just dumb! It always was.
The only thing that I didn’t like, and even then it’s not a didn’t-like thing and more just a yelling-at-the-tv thing… stop picking on Dopey! It’s not his fault he’s simple! :-/
December 8, 2014 at 8:35 am in reply to: 4 x 10 SHATTERED SIGHT >>> WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE DIALOGUE ??? #292425swanning-offParticipantthis episode was all win. So much Tumblring! (By other, more talented people that I shall then reblog)
“How do you walk in that?!”
“With the grace and composure of a Queen!”“I don’t know who you are so you can just go back to wherever you came from”
“What am I wearing?!” (both times. Hilarious! Lana got all the best lines in this episode.
Snow’s speech from the sneak peak – “Still wanna hold hands and sing Zip-e-Dee-Doo-Dah?” I love snarky Snow. Can we keep her?!
“DO NOT WAKE MY BABY!”
“Kristoff! Look at this!…. oh. that’s right. I knocked you out. Umm….” – I love Anna. Do they have to go back to Arandelle? 🙁
Also, Emma’s choice of words to taunt Regina into hating her enough to sever the weird creepy ribbons…. touché.
swanning-offParticipantSo glad that the Evil Queen’s fabulous wardrobe is back.
So, SO keen to see Snarky Snow. “Wanna sing zipidedoodah now?!”
December 6, 2014 at 2:49 am in reply to: FAVORITE & LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS from this episode 4X09 THE FALL ? post hiatus #292248swanning-offParticipantThe reveal that Arendelle was frozen for 30 years BLEW MY MIND. I’m so glad I’m a little behind on the timeline right now because S4A is going to be a headache anyway, but…wow, I was not expecting that. Nor that Ariel saved BB (but YAY ARIEL!) and now we know where the JR is THIS VERY MINUTE. (I love the JR.)
ERMAGAHD I totally did not pick up on that bit. So that’s who Hook traded the Jolly Roger to!
I quite liked the reveal by Hans (whose hammy Bad Guy acting is so much fun) that Arandelle, like the Enchanted Forest/Misthaven has been frozen for 30 years. Yes, it makes the timelines all convenient but y’know what… who cares? It makes things easier to bring together so stuff it. I like that logic.
LOVED sleep-deprived snarky Snow and Regina’s sass off in the Library. Especially when Snow agreed with Regina, and the look Regina gave Emma…. “Yeah – I heard it too!”
Kristoff’s “this is so nice! AND so cold. Can we go somewhere warm?!” at the reunion was awesome. I loved the whole beachside reunion. I was hoping for some “fintervention” (I also legit LOLed at Blackbeard’s dad joke)
I loved the subtle freak out by Snow at giving up *another* baby for a Curse – at least this time she gave up Snowflake Neal to his big sister. But still…. it’s a not insignificant piece of symbolism for Snow. But the best thing in the jail scene – how casually Emma now calls Snowing Mum and Dad. That’s character development right there. It’s no longer saved for big moments – it’s just who they are to her.
Rumple’s hatred of the “fleas” – his rant to Hook was hilarious, his plan was perfectly horrible and I, for one, am actually kind of glad to see the back of Convenient Plot Device Fairy. They’ve never got the hang of Blue’s characterisation, so I’d rather see her sacrificed to the Sorcerer’s Hat than continuing to be an awkward coat-hanger for relevant plot information.
swanning-offParticipantI’m so glad I’m not the only one whose first reaction was “au revoir Convenient Plot Device Fairy!”
I’m actually hoping that being sucked into the Sorcerer’s Hat is permanent. The show has never made fairies work properly. We’ve ranted about it ad nauseum on here, but the TL;dr version: Blue is meant to be all powerful but when it comes down to it, can’t do diddly squat that is of any use. The only fairy I’m hoping didn’t get sucked up was Tink, because I miss her sass face.
