ParticipantI thought the episode was mediocre. I think we are all used to bad episodes so when a mediocre one comes we think it’s good. I hate that they try to retcon Rumple and paint him as one who can do no right just to glorify Hook who they try to make him as the one who can do no wrong. It’s okay for characters to have flaws, but when those flaws are not acknowledged, it just makes the characters seem selfish and hypocrites. Rumple’s episodes such as 108, 119, 204, 214, 304 and 308 were always the strongest of the series and all of them fit well together. This one compared to them was weak and it doesn’t fit, mainly because of all the retcons and characters assassination. In addition, great way of destroying a powerful moment from 209 when Cora wasn’t able to take Emma’s heart.
Was it really retcon though? I mean in the past he was a coward. Which is what we saw here yet again when he couldn’t kill Fendrake. And yet, he was also willing to do whatever it took (except for murder) to save his son, which also is in line with his character. And in the present, it’s revealed that he was trying to see Neal in the globe, so he still cares about his son. And we see he’s willing to do what it takes to get home to Belle. So I’m not sure what you are specifically referring to as far as retconning and character assassination goes.
And yes, the show likes Hook. But that doesn’t mean we have to compare him and Rumple. Rumple has made plenty of mistakes in his life and he always has. Honestly, him making another one is more in line with his character than it is a retcon. What exactly did Rumple do in this episode that didn’t make sense? He’s the DO so he’s looking out for himself, and Belle. Nothing new there. And in the past, he was a coward and cared for his son. Nothing odd there either.

ParticipantI always read her….That was hilarious.

ParticipantKillian/Hook wants Emma to let go because he doesn’t love her or doesn’t want to be with her, it’s to protect her and prevent her from getting in danger, wouldn’t you want to avoid to put those you love in danger if you know they were doing it for you ? And she understands that and doesn’t listen because she loves him and want him to be safe and alive and happy !
Well then it is getting annoying then. Hook should know by now that she’s not going to just let him go. And he did basically agree to the switching of the hearts thing in the last episode. Didn’t work, but he was allowing it. And now to be doing the whole, let me go thing again, is tiresome.

ParticipantMilha was mad at Rumple for taking away her chance for a second child with him, but then she up and abandoned her only child, Bae. Makes no sense. Seriously.
She obviously did not care for Bae like Rumple did. I get she’s angry and unhappy, but it was a really bad choice. Which is why she deserved to get thrown into the lost souls river.

ParticipantI also don’t think I’m going to like this episode. I mean, at what point do we have to question his love for Emma? After like 36485484 times telling her to let him go…I mean come on. It’s getting annoying and it’s making her look selfish and desperate. The first time, I get it. I understood why she didn’t let him go. But come on.

ParticipantThis is probably an “out-there” theory, but here it goes. I wonder if Pan’s pipes can be used to rescue the lost souls from what I’m assuming is the River Lethe. Pan used it on his lost boys, so might it work on lost souls?
I like this theory a lot. Could possibly rescue Milah with it.

ParticipantI wonder if we will see any consequences to Snow and David sharing a heart, now that Snow’s name is on a gravestone and David’s is not. Does it mean that they both can leave, or instead that they both can not leave??
Couple things here…I really hope this gets addressed and I think it will. Remember the creepy apt just basically waiting for Snow and Charming to die in the UW? Seems like foreshadowing to me. They are going to die together, I just know it.
I’m pretty certain it was just Hades who picked the names on the graves. And he chose them because those three are like the three most powerful people there. Excluding Rumple, whom he’s using to benefit himself. Very interested to see what he wants him to do.

ParticipantWell yes she consented and it is Rumple not some other guy, but she doesn’t have all the facts. She is believing something about Rumple and he’s deliberately keeping vital information about himself that would likely change Belle’s perception of him, from her. She doesn’t know, in the emotional sense, who she is sleeping with.
Well sure, but people lie about their past all the time. It doesn’t make the sex any less consensual in my eyes. It’s not very nice of Rumple to do that, but there’s no issue with consent for me at all here.
And I like that Rumple now has a HUUGE weak spot for leverage. Sure, he’s always had Belle. But now this child, is his second chance. So people like Hades are going to try and use that against him. Her being pregnant hopefully also means they will write Belle more scenes going forward.

ParticipantReally liked this one overall. 8/10
Liked:
– Rumple and Hades. Those two actors are so great on screen.
– The reveal at the end. Hades now having control over Rumple and screwing him in not only the deal he just made with him because he sau he’d let him go home, just not today, but also Rumple getting screwed in the first deal he ever made with Fendrake. How fitting. And I liked how they revealed Belle’s pregnancy. I certainly didn’t put two and two together that he was actually trying to see his child (aka Neal). I thought it was a nice trick and cool reveal at the end.
– I really enjoyed Milah in this episode.
– Enjoyed some of the pieces that were connected in the flashback. I think the flashbacks have been so far and giving us little pieces of info we never thought we would get right?
– Regina getting closure with Daniel.
– Cruella! She’s always good.
Mixed:
– Butterfingers? Really? Rumple you’re better than that.
– Rumple killing Milah. I am all for Rumple going full on villain by the end of this. So ultimately I want him to do awful things, and honestly, Milah kind of deserved it. But at the same time, he didn’t have to do that. He could have pushed back a little more with Hades or at least destroyed the boat, told Milah why, and not have to toss her aside.
Disliked:
– That was WAY too easy to get Hook. Like let’s lower him as slow as we can to give Emma time to just walk across a narrow bridge. Very lame.
