As our heroes set out to stop Hyde, Emma develops a mysterious side effect, and Storybrooke becomes a haven for people from the Land of Untold Stories. Meanwhile, Regina and Zelena embrace their newfound sisterhood by becoming roommates, while Rumple tries to free Belle from the sleeping Curse with the help of a stranger. In flashback, Jafar confronts an afflicted Aladdin in Agrabah, and a secret about the Savior is revealed.
What a good season premier! It wasn’t amazing but it was a really good season opener; good content; good character development; we really enjoyed it especially after the special that ABC aired. On the other hand, we are torn and underwhelmed. Then again, we always complain that they never get any kind of a break, whatsoever.
Speaking of the special, Evil Reigns Once More, was pretty good. They had some questions for Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz from the fans; some fun questions about their favorite episode, and what they would wear on a CaptainSwan wedding. There were also questions like what would the Charmings do on vacation, what’s with all the curses, and even one about Dopey. It was a pretty good special that helped remind us of where the show has been and it gives us some big hope that season 6 will feel a lot like season 1 in terms of the magic, surprises, the storylines, plots and our guessing constantly and trying to figure things out and being wrapped up in learning about these characters. It also almost sounded like they were talking about this season as if this might be the final season.
Like per usual, we’ll be all over the place as this is just our initial reaction but we’ll share more about “The Savior” in our upcoming full discussion (usually live on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m., USA Eastern Time).

Like per usual, we’ll be all over the place as this is just our initial reaction but we’ll definitely be more organized come Wednesday for our full discussion of this Once Upon a Time’s season 6 premier episode.
The Savior started our with one and only flashback to somewhere Agrabah-like with a Jafar-like person who happens to use the same name Jafar, and has the same Amara cobra staff from Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. In Wonderland’s version, Jafar was a definite character there, and they brought all those elements but casted a different person to play Jafar. But besides that fact that they had someone else to play Jafar, the guy that they got to play this Jafar is a good Jafar, as much as we’ve seen of him thus far. But Jafar’s story was very complete in Wonderland, maybe they’re just bringing him back temporarily?
What does an Untold Story means? Are we talking about fate? What does it mean when Hyde said that “nothing more dangerous than an untold story and the people who don’t want them told?” Does it mean that those people not want their stories to be told, because Hyde made it sound like somebody else didn’t want those people’s stories to play out. Now that we’ve heard about Aladdin being one of the Saviors among many others in multiple realms, are we finally heading to the final battle? Is Aladdin the one that Emma faces in her visions? Will it be a Savior vs Savior in the end?
Who is Emma’s villain? What if it’s Rumplestiltskin? What if it’s Morpheus, Belle’s baby? Is it even a real vision? Perhaps it’s just a possible future but not absolute? Is dying really the end of Emma’s story? Also, why does being a Savior make Emma’s hand shake? On the other hand, it was great seeing Raphael Sbarge again as Archie Hopper!
Regina and Zelena sounded like teenage sisters but, at the same time, their little fight inside the Mayor’s office was really well-done. Although Regina’s reaction seems a little weird and not how they left it, it’s quite understandable for people who goes through grief, what they say immediately can often be extreme. How about Zelena and the Evil Queen, are they actually going to team up? Zelena is so much of a diva with her wickedness, she reacts to things so harshly, we could see her meeting the Evil Queen and deciding to go all out destroying Regina with the Evil Queen. And did anyone notice the drink that the Evil Queen handed Zelena? It was actually Apple Martini, which was a nice representation of the combination of the two sisters.
The splitting of Regina and the Evil Queen, do they have the same memories? Shouldn’t they identify themselves as the real Regina instead of referring to Regina in the third person? Unless, of course, this confirms our theory during our previous conversation with Heather Ordover of CraftLit podcast during our Season 6 Hopes, Predictions and Spoilers about some really cool parallels between the Evil Queen and Regina, and Jekyll and Hyde.

The whole notion of the Savior’s fate reminded us of Buffy from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, where one Savior of the world inevitably dies and another takes over. Even with the prophecy that Emma got, we wonder if they are going to play it out like that and have Emma try and keep it from happening.
How did Belle’s baby developed a mind before birth? How was he able to think enough to have opinion on things that happened before he was conceived, and knows how to pretend to be someone named Morpheus? However, in the dream, the way that they handled the transition from the Temple of Morpheus to Rumple’s castle was really gorgeous. It didn’t felt rushed and was more enjoyable.
The conversation between Regina and Snow White was really neat. It was nice for Regina to admit that she was an awful stepmother to Snow White. Plus, how this tied in with the closing montage was really neat, too.
