My day is now complete. I agree confidence all the way – and for me, a little acknowledgement on Hook’s part that he needs and intends to become a better man – and worthy of his ‘win’ once he succeeds.
Agreed–I don’t think I ever saw that “win your heart” thing as creepy or arrogant, or really anything other than adorable, haha. Although I’m still several episodes away from that one in my current summer rewatch (aka my celebration of finally having gotten around to buying the S1 and S2 Blu-Rays).
Neal was acting a bit stroppy in that scene though.
Also, thanks for the fun new word, POM! I’d never heard that one before, but I quite like it. 🙂
He was also saying that he wanted to become a man worthy of her love. And he did. Killian wanted to be become better for himself too, but his motivation was Emma’s love.

That scene to me was about Hook stating his intentions to Emma, no subterfuge or emotional blackmail involved (*cough* Neal needling Emma to go on a lunch date) It’s refreshing to have a guy tell you upfront that he wants to be with you. Hook did the same with Neal in the diner when he told him he was in it for the long haul. He wasn’t going to be going behind Neals back in his dealings with Emma.My dad’s British and I could have asked him but googled it instead too.
I agree about Hook. He’s always been upfront about his intentions for Emma in 3A. And he didn’t maneuver himself into her life using trickery, to get her to love him. He waited until she was ready to come to him and that’s exactly what she did in the finale.
