Yeah I went on a bit of a binge lol I think a lot of us are kind of chilling out now just ready for this hiatus to end.

I think I need to stick to just posting in this thread forever. Anywhere else, there seems to be bad. It’s really sad. The forums used to be a fun, safe Oncer haven. But now? It feels like — repressive.
So, how about we post our favorite CS lines from 3A and talk about them?
I think I just dismiss a lot of the negativity because most if it is ‘shippy – and let’s face it, the spoilers and pics and promos have ROCKED for CSers. I mean, I wouldn’t be crying into my pillow if it were another ‘ship getting all of the attention. When you put it in perspective, there’s far less negativity here than on Twitter. Now that’s just a complete war zone. But you must stay here, at least, @Obisgirl! You all must! I’m saddened that Eala feels she needs to take a break, though I completely understand it, we all occasionally need breaks from the insanity, and really hope she’ll pop in once the show starts up again so we can all analyze and analyze again, and then over analyze! Less than 2 weeks to go and at least we’ll have that! So hang in there, everyone! 🙂
Yes, let’s talk about 3A lines!!
My absolute favorite is in Dark Hollow, when Hook tells Emma he ‘will win’ her. I can’t remember the exact words and I’m too lazy to go look for them, but we all know what line I’m talking about!!
I know some have argued that this line shows Hook thinks of Emma as an object to be won. But I completely disagree. Hook isn’t saying what he thinks of Emma, he’s talking about himself. He WILL become a better man, a good man, a man that Emma deserves. He will become worthy of her. In this moment he’s saying he’s done with the revenge, the hate, the selfishness. I don’t think he is alluding to Neal in this exchange either. His competition is himself, the challenge is to not give in when going back to his old ways seems like the easier or even more satisfying route. To me, this is the first time in S3 he really vocalizes or acknowledges his desire to change to her. (Of course, he let his bestie Charming in 3×5 know he saved David because he’s Emma’s father and she couldn’t stand to lose him. Tee hee.) It began when he turned the JR around and went back in S2, and they show many scenes where Emma is noticing he’s trying to change, or that he really never was completely bad, but this is the first time (to me) that he says to Emma that the change is real, and he’s taking it seriously. Because he doesn’t just love her, he wants to deserve her.
Okay, I’m really glad you posted first about that line because that was the one that I posted as one of my faves’ in the Best Lines thread.

I think it’s already been established that Hook is reverting to the best version of himself since he brings up ‘good form’ again and fighting fairly. We saw glimpses of him fighting fairly in the past (like saving Aurora’s heart in Queen of Hearts), but I just feel, there’s so much here that’s generally overlooked.
Remember earlier on before the kiss, Hook wasn’t confident that Emma would love him. Remember how Charming taunted him about that? I don’t see him being presumptuous here but confident. There’s a difference. Confidence is good. And Hook knows Emma well enough that when she is ready to love him, she will.
He’s not cornering her into making a decision now. He’s stating that the choice will be hers to make and she will have to make a choice between Neal and Hook. I also do not see how what Hook says is any different than what Mary Margaret said to David when they were cursed, that David would have to make a choice between her and Katherine.
And lastly,
it will not be because of any trickery. It will be because you want me.
The trickery mention goes back to fighting fairly and good form. I love how Hook states upfront that he’s done with his old ways of getting what he wants. He’s going to do things the right way, he’s going to do right by Emma because it’s what best for her.
So, when she makes her decision, when she chooses him, loves him, wants him in her life or whatever, there will be no question about it. This will be her choice. It will be because she makes that decision.

I agree with you to a degree. I venture out of here once in awhile but I don’t join in often. It seems like you really have to be careful of what and how you say stuff. It’s easier to not partake.

because you already one buddy! lol ok that’s just my take on it but idk I think Emma’s moved to a good place in her relationship with Neal and I think from all the things we’ve seen and heard she might be ready to move on with Hook.

I agree with that wholeheartedly! And that’s a huge difference btw him and Neal. Neal doesn’t seem to even want to “try”, he just expects it to happen.
