surayya – Sweet, thanks for tech update 🙂 I was trying to sneakily post from work and didn’t want to fuss around with code cos it took me ages to get the spoiler one to work this morning.
But ooh yes! Everything seems to be happening around the 9 month mark, they keep telling us so often. So Zelena’s spies really were working overtime and she was quick off the mark to get pet!Walsh over to NY.

I agree with a lot of what ellemo78 said. I think the Hook/JR theory is an interesting (and possible) theory but I have a couple of issues with it…
1. Hook is not magical whatsoever and the original curse was ripped up. Since Rumple was presumably unavailable to “re-write” it I would assume Regina had to have been involved. It is essentially curse 1.0 light version and everything seemed to go back to be just as it was before she had to rip it up and take them back to EF excepting the 1 year memory loss. 2. If Hook cast the curse I would presume that the others would have to be involved someway per #1. I really don’t see him just casting this curse all on his own without help from Regina. So if that is the case why all the secrets? If something went wrong and they lost their memories as a “price” or that was anticipated why not just say something like “Only Emma is strong enough to beat Zelena so we had to re-cast the curse to get back to Emma and I was the one that had to do it.” 3. It would mean he flat out lied to Emma regarding not knowing who cast the curse. /bad form
All that being said it wouldn’t be the first time “conveniences” were written in the episode for plot. Regina conveniently being able to protect her heart from controlling her when that was never previously discussed is just a recent example of that. I honestly don’t want him to cast it though mostly because that means he lied to Emma.
I am super bad at theorizing but here is my guess:
Aurora reveals Zelena’s intention to get Snowing’s baby. They seek help from Glinda who tells them she can’t help and that only the powers of True Love (Emma) are strong enough to defeat Zelena. They go back to Regina with this information and decide that they need to get back to Storybrooke and find a way to re-cast the curse. Regina sacrifices the heart of the only thing she loves *in EF* which is Cora’s heart (it was pointed out that her coffin was in the castle in a previous episode). She is obviously already dead so it is a convenient loophole where a heart can be crushed but nobody is killed (b/c who is missing?) Maybe since Regina didn’t really pay a price for casting the curse they all lose their memories from the last year. Before casting the curse they need to find a way to get Emma back (and her memories). Regina makes a memory potion but can only get enough ingredients for one because it is difficult to make. They can’t have Neal go on the quest because he is either missing (or they think he is dead if Belle is able to get back to them). That leaves Hook. Snow sends her bird with the potion and a letter. Now that Hook has a memory potion (which he has been searching for) Hook uses the JR in some fashion (Lake Nostos, trade, portal, etc) to get back to Emma. Regina casts the curse and Zelena avoids it using her slippers OR she sabotages it somehow so they lose their memories but she keeps hers. I dunno. In present day Zelena captures Henry and tells Hook he needs to kiss Emma or Henry dies. Angst ensues and Hook is now in guilty turmoil and confesses all that he sacrificed to get to her and now regrets it because the Henry situation is all his fault. Emma realizes just how powerful her feelings are for Hook (and how powerful her magic is) so she kisses Hook. They have TLK which breaks Hook’s curse and everyone’s memories curse. Angry that her plan failed Zelena monkifies Henry.
So I am sure I am 100000% wrong but it is fun to speculate 🙂 Maybe I will get one thing right haha.
I know people are on pins and needles regarding a possible TLK this next episode, but with this show, and with stuff I’ve read elsewhere, nothing is ever as it seems on this show. There’s speculation that the TLK excitement is muchadoo about nothing.
My bigger point: Does anybody know if there are foreboding rumors regarding Hook this next episode? Hook has a large part to play in this next episode, but wasn’t even in the promo. With no spoilers, and things being seemingly quiet, I’m getting creeped out!

Well we know from filming pics that he filmed for the finale so IF something happened to him (which I personally feel is unlikely) it wouldn’t be until the final episode.

I personally don’t think Hook is going to have a lot of screen time this episode assuming the Hook casting the curse theory is incorrect. He was in the promo briefly when the monkey is coming for Henry. Based on promo/PR I think this is going to be a very full episode that is going to focus more on the past than the present since they have a lot to cover. I DO think though whatever screen time Hook has is going to be VERY important to the story. Overall I wouldn’t worry. Hook seems to be a network favorite and I doubt they would do all this buildup with Emma opening up and all these interviews about Hook/Emma if they were just going to crash it all down with his death. I guess you never know though. A lot of Neal fans seemed to be blindsided.
Thanks. I missed him in the promo, then. I wish somebody would have broken it down into screen shots like in times past. There are probably a lot of clues there, but I guess everybody’s just busy.

Maybe Philora told Zelena *everyone* that came back so she knew Hook was once with them? Or maybe she is using Rumple’s powers to somewhat see the future?
I’m beginning to wonder if everyone was turning to dark magic during the missing year due to variations of trying to bring back people from the “dead”, get back to people they love, find a way to defeat the WW, protect themselves from the WW, and get back to Emma so she could defeat the WW. Maybe Hook’s reason for not telling people what he knows is that ignorance is bliss – they wouldn’t like the dark choices they made in the EF and he is wanting to spare them the pain??
I don’t know . . . I am confused.
@Jennifer I can probably count on one hand the number of times I have been right during the entire run of the show so far – I am that bad at theorizing, but it’s still fun.
But now I am wondering if Snow cast the curse based upon the spoilers that say that Regina, Snow, and Charming make a difficult decision that affects everyone. I wonder if somehow she is able to “sacrifice” Charming without actually killing him – like can his heart be borrowed or something? There is footage of him falling to his knees in the promo – I can see him agreeing to sacrifice himself to save his baby since his already “lost” one by not being able to raise Emma. Snow and Charming don’t have magic so they couldn’t do they curse on their own, they would have to rely on Regina to show them how to do it. Charming couldn’t do it because he couldn’t pregnant Snow. So maybe Hook really was telling the truth – maybe Regina put together a memory potion and Snow sent a message via her bird to Hook telling him that they were in trouble and he needed to get Emma back to SB before Snow cast the curse and sent them all back to SB. No idea if they all knew they would lose their memories or if that was an snafu. Because if they knew it was going to happen you think you would write yourself a note on your arm explaining what happened or something. I also then don’t know what happened to the JR. Could he not use it to cross realms anymore so he had to trade it for something else that would get him back to Emma? Did he trade it to try to find additional memory potion for Henry? Did he just decide he no longer wanted to be a pirate and just got rid if it as a symbolic gesture?.
Theorizing is certainly fun and mind tweaking but Adam and Eddy have a set of brain cells that are on a totally different level than the rest of the known universe! 🙂 They make whatever they want to happen, happen
From the already gaping plot holes created over the last 2 1/2 years, we know that some holes just won’t be filled.
It would be kind of cool if Hook or any non- magic character was able to cast a curse and I’m hoping they actually go that route. Multiple curse makers would be exceptionally fun. Inspite of plaintive cries of “they can’t do that~that is out of character!” from some, all the characters are thankfully going through progressive personality growth while still maintaining their core appeal and that makes for much more interesting entertainment and keeps everything from stagnating.
The sneak peaks and BTS photos are purposefully misleading and created to mess with us (grin) but with certainty, regarding Hook and Swan…
They are both very much alive, seriously connected, not wallowing in a dead past and have nothing but new adventures (and costume changes!) in the remaining episodes!!
That is very good for the joy factor even with some twists and turns in their road…which this season they have constantly walked side by side.
