I have heard most all of the theories and there are two that fit and in this storyline it is plausible. He is both the Wizard of Oz and Pinnochio. The evidence pointing to Pinnochio seems to fit but yet other evidence pointing towards the Wizard works too. Bae, I cannot see. We know so much about August by what has has said and the clothes he wears and other suggestions. We do not know much about Bae’s personality even though he was in entire episode. Future Henry not sure they have confirmed time travel but do we really want to start a time travel storyline? With the fairy tale storyline almost anything is possible we all like this show the time travel could potentially prematurely have this show just the shark before we see any sea-based fairy tales. I think Regina will remember a former love interest. August being a Grimm or Hans Christian Anderson makes for a thin case but in my opinion both remotely possible. His Storybrooke story can also have him be the boy who found Emma which does explain why he knows so much back information and believes as Henry does. He also has a lot of knowledge of the book which suggests somehow he was responsible for the book. Whether that be writing it, intorducing Storybrooke to the book or even as the protector of the book. (The Book Guardian if you would) Every relic or artifact in these types of stories has one to ensure its safety and to keep it out of enemy hands.

With that, we are suppose to hate Regina for enacting the curse and Rumple for creating it. However, it is very hard to hate Rumple because he has charisma and there is something charming about him but in an evil and lovable way. We all hate to love him and love to hate him. Love / Hate. Also the more we hate David now the more we will love him later. Besides it is easier to dislike the hero than to dislike the heroine. Mary Margaret is annoying and dislikable too but as annoying and dislikable as she is….she does mangage to redeem herself in ways that David has not. Remember Snow and Charming have a reciprocal relationship. Snow has saved Charming as many times as he’s saved her. So right now Mary Margaret is more “charming” than Charming/ David/ James.
charmingParticipantI agree with Midnight Dreary about August being Oz. Just like the Return everyone thinks it is Bae, Belle and everyone but Kathryn. Everyone thinks August is Pinnochio, Bae everyone but what clues are pointing to us which are right in front of our very eyes. Remember these guys use to write for Lost and this is not their first rodeo when it comes to throwing us a curve ball…..red herring for those who rather use a tv reference rather than a baseball one. For all we care this could be a red herring in a red herring…..he may end up being Pinnochio or both. It is plausible that he is both and we are all right.
charmingParticipantLet’s face it, the way he was written, he was suppose to annoy us. He is not Charming yet. He has to remember how to be Charming before he can be Charming again. Just like he got Angry Snow to become Snow White again. Emma, I think has to start talking to him as friends rather than just siding with Mary Margaret all the time. She is the key. Other than Graham so far he is closer than anyone else to discovering who he actually is. I believe you will see David / Charming and not just James / Charming sooner than we think.
charmingParticipantDr. Whale does seem to be one of Regina’s minions. So he is in debted to her somehow. Regina did say to Rumple that she need help with a certain mermaid. Dr. Whale does not have any contact or association with Dr. Hopper or Marco, so I can go along with Dr. Whale being involved with the Little Mermaid Story. It will only be confirmed if they do show Ariel’s Storybrooke counterpart and see if she has any contact with Whale. He has been seen with Red, Mary Margaret and David though so he can still fit into the Charming / Snow White story.
charmingParticipantRapunzel, I agree. It is about time. Cora staying alive is more punishment than dying. A lot of questions are answered with this episode but it also raises some more. Does Cora have any association with Rumple? Is there more to the Regina / Snow feud? Is she the Queen of Hearts? While on subject of the QoH…..is Wonderland a prison? It certainly seems that way to me. Finally is Henry, Regina’s father…is he a weakling and how does he fit into this puzzle??? We see him here and at the end before the curse was enacted and wonderland but do not know how he fits in other than being Regina’s servent/ father/ advisor. There will be a lot more to this backstory to come I believe but currently satified the direction it is going.
charmingParticipantMy favorite moments were (in no particular order):
1) Snow trying to smash the bluebird.
2) Snow’s intervention with the dwarves
3) The whole scene with Charming and Snow and the bow and arrow.
4) Emma telling Mary Margaret that she is not her mother.
5) Red is the wolf!!
6) Any Rumple scene when he giggles.
7) Belle extracting some humanity out of Rumple, even it if was just for a moment or two.
8) Snow and Charming meeting in Snow falls. Snow says, “is this the only way you can catch a woman?”
9) Everytime Snow calls James Charming from the moment he got the nickname to every usage and to every single reference either in FTL or Storybrooke.
10) The opening scene: when Charming kisses Snow in the glass coffin with all 7 dwarves witnessing her revival.
Least favorite:
1) Dwarves hatching out of eggs.
2) Stealthy….really???!!!
3) Grumpy was originally Dreamy….come on!!
4) Nova being that dumb, ditsy and clumsy…..at little overplayed and exagerated. It it were done in moderation it would have been more fun to watch.
5) Jiminy aging but his parents looking the same age.
6) Gaston. I do not like the character even in the Disney cartoon but this portrayal makes him seem more of a dope.
7) The Fairy Tale side of Grumpy’s backstory. It was nice to find out his deal. it was also nice to see him and Nova being love interest but they could have taken the corny out of it. I liked the Storybrooke side a lot better.
8) What I said about Grumpy’s backstory goes for Jiminy’s backstory. I hope all of the other dwarves backstory are not going to be corny and please no Stealthy backstory.charmingParticipantI am glad EnchantedOne agrees with me. Just to add a little bit more to it…at the end of Stableboy, when Emma looks at Kathryn, she does seem different or at least changed in someway. Kathryn looked confused and who knows whatelse was done to her. We really do not know for sure how a person will act like after they had their heart ripped out. The Huntsman / Graham was immediately dragged out of the heart chamber and into Regina’s bed chamber and it did not give us enough time to gauge his emotions. Who knows whatelse was done to him as well. In the beginnning of the episode it was clear that Mr. Gold and Regina were conspiring to frame Mary Margaret but each probably for the same results but differing reasons. To put off the a missing Kathryn did not seem to be a one person job. It is not clear how much each of them know about it but is clear they both planned it.
charmingParticipantOne thing is for certain about Cora. She is the daughter of a miller. I do think it is possible for Bae to be Cora’s son but I think I heard from rewatching Desperate Souls the soldier suggested that Bae was not his and that he was a bastard. If Rumple and Cora were together then the scenario woulld be; they were married and she was with child at the time or she cheated on him when he went to war. He then raised Bae as his own for whatever reason. The whole Bae, Rumple and Cora connection is plausible.
charmingParticipantI think it has something to with Emma being Sheriff. What Mr. Gold said after she won the election suggests that she will be in a better position to honor that deal made. I do not have the exact quote and I may have to rewatch those episodes. When the deal was first struck he said nothing to the affect but during and after the election he made reference back to the deal.
