Participantmy guess is whoever was next in line becomes Sultan, after Jafar kidnaps his father. This Sultan is Jasmine’s father.
That actually fits? I think…?
That works in principle, but I am not sure about the timings. Would a new Sultan step into power as soon as the other one goes missing? I guess they would be an Acting Sultan until it is assumed that the original is dead. Do we know how long Jafar was holding his father for before he killed him?

ParticipantIt looks like it isn’t the same actor as in Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, although he did play a character called Akil in that show…
It probably isn’t even meant to be the same Sultan, which would mean Adam and Eddy have some explaining to do. They continuously claim that this is the same Jafar, and that Wonderland is canon. They can’t pull another Anastasia this time around, since they don’t have a technicality to hide behind.
Was the Sultan in Wonderland Jasmine’s father or were there any hints to him being? I don’t recall as it has been a long time since I’ve watched it.
EDIT: Just remembered, he was Jafar’s father. This begs the question as to whether or not Jafar is Jasmine’s brother in Once, or if it really is a completely different Sultan.

ParticipantI find it interesting that a protection spell to keep Hyde off of the Jolly Roger would have allowed Jekyll on board. Especially as they are the same person.

ParticipantI just feel like at this stage they are really going to have to pull something amazing out of the bag to get us to like the two of them again. I still have a feeling that we might end up seeing a Dark One Morpheus and Rumple having to really fight tooth and nail to save his son. I’m not 100% sure I would like that, but surely something like this is the only thing that could reunite Belle and Rumple – a common cause? I guess the baby could be snatched/stolen as well.
Matt
ParticipantI thought for a tiny second that Rumple was gonna get stabbed with the dagger!

ParticipantI really don’t understand why they bothered including Belle in this show, because IMO they have done such an awful job with her character throughout. Any time it seems like they are finally going to take her in a different direction they wimp out! She is just a complete non-starter for me because I have never really warmed to her and that is down to how badly she has been written. I wish they would have her using her book smarts more, and doing stuff that doesn’t involve Rumple or the baby. And she needs to cast some sort of restraining spell so that Rumple can’t come anywhere near her.

ParticipantThis promo made me cringe. Aladdin is too enthusiastic and the CGI looks more terrible than Aladdin’s 90’s computer game.
I agree – it looks horrible. I hate the shot of Jafar approaching the hut in the desert as well because it looks like an awful set. I don’t know why they couldn’t have shot it in an exterior location at least.

ParticipantInterestingly, Netflix UK has now updated the title to “Street Rats”. A Bitter Draught on the other hand remains as A Bitter Drought!

ParticipantIt’s showing wrong on U.K. Netflix as well now. They also have episode two listed as Drought instead of Draught.
