Participantsweetgrass, I daresay you’d be hard pressed to find many SFers who would love to see Hook dead. We wouldn’t want our ship to happen that way any more than CSers would if Neal were to die. One of the guys dying is NOT a satisfying way for the situation to be resolved for either side. Like I said in my post on the previous page, I certainly don’t WANT him to die, but given what we know, I can speculate that I think his death might be something they’ve been working towards.
I can appreciate why CSers wouldn’t entertain the Sydney Carton-esque potential storyline, because CSers don’t consider CS to be a one sided, unrequited love relationship, which is how many non-CSers (not all of them SFers) interpret the interactions we’ve seen between them. Judging by the way I interpret it as being unrequited love, with Hook having had an emotional attachment to the other guy, I can very easily see how they might go the Sydney Carton route, having Hook give his life for his “old friend”. I’d appreciate it in the sense that we’d finally get some CaptainFire development, which has been sorely lacking.
As for SFers wanting him to sail off into the sunset without a true love…those two things aren’t mutually exclusive. It’s perfectly possible for him to have both true love and the freedom to keep sailing the seas. That’s the life he lived with Milah, and it’s the life he could have again, which I feel would make him happiest. I don’t think, judging by what we’ve seen of him, that his version of “happy ending” would involve being landlocked. It’s a big reason why I crackshipped Hookriel, because she’s traditionally got the wanderlust, and she obviously loves the sea. It’s similar to why I can see potential for TinkerHook, because Tink is a feisty one who’d be up for adventures, and we also know she’s one for breaking the rules and doing what she wants, which was a trait that Milah had, so it’s something that would likely appeal to Hook. Emma’s big happy ending dream is a quiet, stable home. So I just don’t think they’re compatible in that sense. That doesn’t mean that he can’t find someone else who would love to sail around with him forever and ever and they could be blissfully happy together. That’s the ending I’d prefer to see for him.
The situation we have now with this spoiler is we have a very short list of candidates and the majority of the fandom figures it’s down to one of these two guys, with Belle running a distant 3rd, and the rest almost guaranteed as being safe. Having considered storyline potential for all the options we have, Hook makes the most sense to me, he seems the best fit, I can see how they could write the death of that particular character as being a realistic progression of his past and current storyline as I’ve interpreted it. That doesn’t mean that him dying is my PREFERRED option for his storyline, I certainly won’t be cheering if it happens, but it is what it is, and if SOMEONE is DEFINITELY dying, he just seems like the most likely candidate to me, all things considered.

ParticipantOMG those gifs are BRILLIANT! š

ParticipantWell, Helen’s been in tweeted pics from cast outings, and it’s sort of a no brainer that she and baby Evan would be in Vancouver with Colin, (his dog was also in a pic he tweeted back when they were starting to shoot this season). As to whether or not they’ve actually “moved” there, as in, actually bought a house, I have no idea. Sean recently tweeted about looking for an apartment to rent, so I’d guess that the O’Donoghues probably rent an apartment there too, (seems like the most sensible option, considering that they don’t shoot 12 months a year, so a short term lease somewhere would be more likely)?
PS. PoM, that post of yours needs spoiler tags. š

ParticipantAnd suddenly, when his revenge streak was complete (out of the blue), he fixated on the first woman who reminded him somewhat of Milhaās adventurous spirit, and Emma just happens to be the biological mother of Milhaās grandchild. Itās just bizzare. The real caveat, however, is that Emma is not anything like Milha, because she would never abandon Henry the way that Milha abandoned Baelfire, and deep down, Hook knows it.
This is so obvious to me, how they’ve written Milah and Emma to be polar opposites in regards to their children. It was probably Milah who went to Killian and begged him to take her away from her husband and child. Emma has insisted that her child is her first choice, always, not negotiable, she’s not giving him up for anyone now. Hook’s not used to dealing with women who want to remain committed to their family. He does have the capacity to understand having commitment to family, because look at how tight he was with his brother. But he’s experienced so much of the opposite with all the other men’s wives over the years since, and then Milah, that I don’t think he can quite wrap his head around where Emma’s coming from, and he has unrealistic expectations that she’s gonna be like the women who came before. Which she most definitely is not.
I fail at quoting spoilers, so this was from Laurel…
I donāt care what anyone says, I donāt want Hook to die. I donāt understand why itās so hard for CSers to believe. But if anything, it just makes sense. And to give him that honor that heās desperately wanted his entire longggg long life, well, Iād probably cry my eyes out for days after that ep. Itās the epitome of what this show is all about. My response…
THIS! Do I WANT Hook to die? No, I don’t want ANYONE to die. Do I want Hook to achieve some legit redemption, for the sake of him being a fully formed character with a believable story arc where he finally finds a way back to the good form he was so proud of back in the day? Yes! Do I want him to die to achieve that? No, of course it’d be preferable that they found another way to tell his redemption arc. But do I think it would be an effective way for them to show it? Yes.Back when he was fresh faced Killian, he was a dedicated Navy man. People who pride themselves on their military service do their job with the full knowledge that they’re putting their life on the line every single day. Their ship was getting fired on in Good Form, and Killian was the first to order the crew to come around and face the oncoming battle, knowing full well that he could die in the process. They were outnumbered 3 ships to 1. As a pirate, we’ve seen him pick on those far weaker than himself, challenging a cripple to a swordfight and giving him a rusty blade. I believe that more than anything, he’d love to regain his lost honour, have the Navy man who was willing to bravely put his life on the line rise to the fore again. Throwing himself into a situation where he knows there are good odds of him dying, but doing it for the sake of protecting others, would be him reclaiming his lost sense of honour and bravery.
I don’t want him to die, I want him to be the man he longs to be, and I believe that it would be a massive step towards that for his character to put his life on the line in order to protect others. It would be a way he could be truly proud of himself for the first time in centuries. Dying sucks, but the Navy man would consider it an honourable and worthwhile death, and something to be proud of, and I want him to regain that sense of self for his own sake.
Going back to what slurpeez said with the stuff about surviving. He’s been a good survivor because for a long time now, he’s looked out for #1. Acting like that hasn’t exactly brought him much happiness or satisfaction. If he’s gonna be a better man, he’s gotta stop looking out for #1, even if, as I suspect, it will involve risking and giving his life in the process.

ParticipantI get what you’re getting at, slurpeez. But the way they worded the spoiler, it sounds like a real time, dead is 100% dead situation to me.

ParticipantI wanna see how NL became dark.
I wanna see how Pan trapped Wendy and enslaved her brothers.
I wanna see how Tink knew Pan well enough to be able to find and get into his camp, (he must have trusted her, so what’s their history).
I wanna know how Tink got to NL in the first place.
I wanna know what “dirty work” Hook did for Pan, (they cannot just drop a line like that in there and not do anything with it!).
I wanna see how Bae live in NL, (how did he end up in the cave, how did he really escape, did Pan let him go?).So I guess if there’s another Hook centric in S3B, it won’t involve his time in NL at all. A Hook-centric with no reference to NL would feel odd, especially in this season.

ParticipantThey should film a death scene now for every character. The leaks would have a hard time coping with that, and it would give the actorsā¦.motivation.
Wouldn’t surprise me at all if they did film multiple deaths. They know how big spoilers get leaked, and like RG said, another show they’ve worked on before has used that tactic.
But this is my question: how many of you will stop watching if it is your favorite character/second favorite character? (donāt cheat and come back with ābut RG!! It wonāt be my favorite character!!ā)
Well Rumple’s my ultimate fave, and I’m certain he’ll be back somehow. Neal’s tied for second fave with Emma these days. There’s no way they’re killing Emma, and I strongly doubt it’ll be Neal, (they’ve already shown how everyone would mourn him, so if they actually killed him, there’d be a diminished emotional punch because we’ve seen everyone deal with it before. The storyline would be redundant, and is something like that a thing they’d leak this far in advance to drum up hype for it? Doubtful IMO), but if it WAS Neal, I’d be pissed, but would keep watching to see how they did it. I also love me some Rumbelle, and am starting to like Regina more, and am looking forward to how OQ unfolds, and can’t wait to see what they do with all the Oz stuff, and they’ve said Ariel’s gonna be back at some point and I need to see more Ariel. So even if there’s one storyline that ticks me off, I’ve still got so much more to watch for. I’ll be with this show until the end.
Iām going to throw my hat in the ring, however, and say that I think it will be Hook. Because I could see it being the most effective story for a few reasons. And to maximize the number of characters it affects, I think heāll doing it saving ⦠not Emma, but BAE.
That would make the most storytelling use of his death. Itās a gut punch for Emma, especially if he does for her sake. Itās a shocker for Bae/Neale, because I believe Hookās been looking at him as a son of sorts for years because of Milha. (But the reverse was not true for Bae.) And for Rumble: What if one of his greatest enemies just made the ultimate sacrifice to save HIS son.
It would also make a nice mirror scene to the one in 222 where he handed Bae over to Pan. Back then he gave the kid over to Pan, who he knows as being a “demon”. Hook knew deep down that it was the wrong thing to do, but he did it anyway because the darkness in his heart won out. What better way to balance that scene than with another one where he gives himself up as a means to protect and save Bae instead. It would be proof of real character growth for him, taking responsibility for his previous actions by making a personal sacrifice. We’ve seen that from Rumple and Regina now, but not from Hook yet.

I just donāt understand why they would release this spoiler at all. It would have a much higher shock value if kept secret. All it did was just as antagonize and agonize fans and create division. WORST. SPOILER. EVER.
Hoping it might boost ratings perhaps? It’s a pretty high stakes plot twist, so maybe some people who haven’t been watching as regularly as they used to will get wind of it and tune in again?
TVLineās poll is blowing up too.
I saw this post on tumblr just before, and it’s for a totally different poll, but it really applies to all online polls that allow someone to vote more than once (which the TVLine one does)…
Has anyone else noticed the āgeographical breakdownā on this new shipping poll? Itās really interesting. You can track where the majority of votes are coming from. Not just that, you can actually zoom in on the hot spots to see EXACTLY where the majority of votes are coming from, so you can see whether theyāre scattered around a city or coming from just one address. Like, Iām willing to bet that this person here in New York has voted slightly more than once, judging by what happens when you keep zooming in on that red area.

^ That right there is a hell of a lot of votes. So letās just all remember this PROOF that the poll doesnāt accurately represent the fandom. Whatever pairing wins will not win because the majority of fans ship them. Theyāll win because (for example) a single person on Reade St has been voting hundreds of times for their favorite pairing. NO NEED TO GET UPSET IF YOUR SHIP DOESNāT WIN, OK, GUYS?
PS: well played, exuberant central NY shipper.

ParticipantRumple: I used a curse to find you, Bae. To tell you I made a mistake. To make sure you had a chance at happiness. And that happiness IS possible, just not with me.
Would they really have Rumple say (as recently as the mid season finale) that Neal has a chance at happiness if they were planning to kill him off? I really doubt it.
