Adam & Eddy said before WL started that they wanted to write this grand, sweeping romantic story for WL and I find it hard to believe that it’s accidental for them to have used similar themes like sacrifice, home, and family for these two stories if they weren’t intending for something down the road. I agree that the shows are definitely their own unique worlds but I think the themes are the same for a reason and that was done on purpose.
It seems to me that they’ve taken that theme of sacrifice and finding home with someone as a starting point for both, but they’re then exploring the theme in different ways, with two different sets of characters.
We all know that in the end, Emma has a way of getting to where she needs to be.
“If there’s one thing I know about you, you don’t stop ’til you find what you’re looking for.” 😉 (BTW, if you go back and re-watch that scene like I just did, with the knowledge we have now that Emma knew in that moment that she still loved him, but couldn’t be with him again, and if you think about how her career of tracking people down was potentially partially inspired by some desire (conscious or otherwise) to eventually find him again, and you look at her expression when he says that line…it’ll kinda sorta make you feel like you just got punched in the chest, and the guts, the FEELS will pretty much make you keel right over. Don’t say you weren’t warned.)
When S1 started she was no where near ready to being the Savior, but by season’s end she was. Likewise, S2 started with Emma having a lot of trust issues, both from having been abandoned by her parents, but also Neal. Yet, S2 ended with Emma saying she loves Neal, that she realized it the instant she ran into Neal. Tamara was just a wall which could be moved, just as I believe Hook will only be a temporary obstacle. S3 started with Neal awakening from a near-death experience with renewed clarity and with him fighting to get back to Emma and Henry, because they’re all he has. Neal’s goal is to be there for them. Yet, there is the new curse coming, much like there was this curse that Emma had to break in S1. While Emma isn’t sure she ready, I’m all but certain that by the end of S3, Emma will have caught up emotionally to where Neal is at.
Yep, judging by how they’ve constructed her character progression in previous seasons, she’ll have another of those emotional milestones come the end of S3.
My prediction is that we get 4.5 seasons (13 episodes of a 5th season to get to 100 episodes), which means that Emma’s love life has to be solved AT LEAST by the end of S3. They can’t drag it out past then if they want to develop Emma and X as forever and a legit couple. So season 3 is the choice (Hook or Neal); season 4 is “watch us struggle as a couple” with the end of S4 being “we are now a legit couple and are rock solid, nothing is coming between us.” And the abbreviated S5 is Tallahassee. 🙂 (see what I did there)
I think they could go for 5 or maybe even 6 seasons all up. But as of right now, all they know is that S4 is pretty much a guarantee because of syndication, so if that’s all the guarantee they have, and they want at least a full season of them building the relationship up, she’s gotta make that choice by the end of S3.
[adrotate group="5"]There’s a precedent for Regina locking a girl up for future use in a revenge plot, so it would fit if she’s in the Gothel role, holding Rapunzel prisoner. How would Robin figure into scenes of Regina being Gothel though? OH idea…Rapunzel is related to Marian? Though you’d think it wouldn’t bode well for the future of OutlawQueen if Robin had to rescue a relative who was being imprisoned by Regina. Hmmmm.
WWW being a mother? Dunno. Would they want to show a sympathetic edge to her when she’s only a couple of eps into her run as a big villain? I could see WWW wanting to steal Rapunzel for her own purposes though, and that setting up a rivalry between her and Regina, if there wasn’t one previously.
Well, just because she saw Rebecca, Lana and Sean, doesn’t necessarily mean she’s in scenes with them all. But it does pay to be suspicious of tweets like this, so I’m officially curious. 😛
Lana has the EQ hair in the pic with Sean, so whatever they were shooting must have been set in FTL. So if all 4 of these folks were shooting together, then Rapunzel and whoever Rebecca is, were also in FTL. Though we’ve also seen Rebecca shooting in SB.
The Bunny Family was wonderful. Loved the style of Mrs Bunny. Loved their little house.
Thought this was a really strong ep all around.
One thing I like about this show is how they play on words. This ep’s heard-it-through-the-grapevine gag made me chuckle. 😉
We’ll see Lizard again in episode 9.
Nice, I’d been wondering if we might see her again. I’ve wondered if maybe she’s got Will’s heart stashed somewhere, (as in, she saw him about to just toss it away for good, and she snagged it to keep it safe, without him knowing).

I’d never really noticed it on a conscious level before, but seeing all the screencaps posted together, along with the tweet, it’s just so lovely, and I’m so happy that it’s a thing that Josh does deliberately.
What I like about Charming in Daddy mode, and the fact that Emma is gradually warming up to it, is that Snow has, since the curse lifted, really struggled with being a mother to this person that she first became a friend to as an adult.
For quite a while, it bugged quite a few people that Emma didn’t really seem to have any sort of close relationship with her father, but I think that that actually serves their current relationship well. With her mother, Emma had a previous close friendship that she now has to try and redefine, and it’s not been easy for them to do, but she didn’t really have that with her dad, so there are no preconceptions that they need to readjust to. They’re starting from scratch with their relationship, with all the knowledge of who they actually are to each other, which I think allows them to become close in a unique way.
Well now I have a mental image of Kitswitz dancing around to Christina Aguilera, so thanks for that. 😛
Yes, slurpeez, the “sacrifice = true love” stuff in WL was like a screaming, flashing, SF beacon IMO.
Hmmm, good point. Maybe my little crack theory isn’t completely baseless, considering they have already had Eric suggest a connection to Agrabah, which is connected to WL.
Oh, and weren’t Cylice supposed to have adventured with mermaids at some point?

I’m not convinced that the grey in his hair is actually a thing, I think it might just be something that’s showing up in photos but it’s not a true representation of his actual hair colour. If they’re deliberately trying to make him look significantly older, he’s the only one they’re doing it for, because the rest of them still look exactly the same age. So I’m not convinced that it’s a flashforward situation.
What if the curse PP casts goes wonky and it splits everyone in two and you get their light and dark sides?
I definitely think that the Curse isn’t gonna work like Pan (and everyone else) is expecting. If it doesn’t get stopped completely, I do think it’ll do something wonky, and I guess that thing could potentially be that they get split in two, with one of each character in SB, and the other back in FTL. That doesn’t explain Emma, Henry and Rumple not being in the FTL pics though. If everyone in SB gets split and their other self gets transported, then they should have ALL been in the FTL pics.
