Those 310 promo pics made my day! šŸ˜€

Hook is complicated, but those complications do mean he’s not all sweetness nor all selfishness and spite. What happens is some fans overpraise his good moments with the low bar of expectations for a pirate, but he is not a gentleman just for not being a cad. He can still be a jerk who is only nice to those who have something he wants, even if he is genuinely nice or mostly nice to them. The test of his change is how does he treat people when Emma is not there to see ?

I’m disappointed in how they seem to have simplified him in recent eps, because I agree that he’s complicated. If they’d delved more into the CaptainFire relationship instead of, or even as well as the triangle stuff, Hook could have been shown on a deeper level. I’m curious to see how this situation is gonna be resolved, with the whatever agreement that Hook and Neal are apparently gonna come to in the near future. With any luck it’ll show some more depth to him.

I’m not sure if he is back paddling or not. I don’t see the writers trying to back paddle Hook because they are going for the hero redemption thing with him. I just think he is naturally acting upon his alpha male instincts with his buck rival Neal, who can alpha male in his own way, but they are also dealing with an alpha female who would but those two bucking wolves in their place especially when her pup is in danger.

Hook’s not used to having a rival for the alpha male status. His typical experience is that even women who are married will fall for him without him having to even try. So he’s a bit out of his depth right now, and as an added bonus, his competition is Nealfire of all people. Hook doesn’t really know how to do subtle, so he came on strong, and he’s not letting it go.

He actually reminds me a bit of one of the girls we just had here on our Aussie version of The Bachelor. Ali fell for Tim in ep 1, tried to kiss him the first night, (it was completely awkward), would stare daggers if anyone else got private time with him, she was practically bunny boiler material. She made it to the final 3, and at the end of her home date visit, she looked him right in the eye and said she was utterly in love with him. Then each girl got to send him a video message and hers was all, “I love you, I’ve loved you for ages, OMG I’M SO IN LOVE WITH YOU, WE HAVE A TOTALLY MAGICAL CONNECTION.” She didn’t make it through the next rose ceremony, because Tim was quite obviously not at that same level with how he felt about her and was all, “WHOA, BACK UP!” To me, Emma’s total NON-reaction to the latest “As you wish,” is her version of Tim not giving Ali that final rose.

But one thing is shown, Emma and Neal work really well together. I still stand that Neal has helped Emma feel more secure in her role as a leader and mother, pulling away from her feeling like a lost girl and orphan. It just seems like she is whole again. Perhaps Neal coming back from the impossible has helped her see there is hope and that she has her family and her person is now a part of it like she always wanted.

Agreed. I think the SF story has been developing in NL, even if it hasn’t been overtly shown. But if you pay attention to the undercurrent of emotions that’s running through the whole family, the development of SF is entwined with that.

The reference to Neal as Emma’s “person” reminds me of Meredith and Cristina in Grey’s Anatomy, which I haven’t actually watched properly in years, but I remember they have that, “you’re my person” thing, where no matter what crap is happening with either of them, they’ll always have their own unique and unbreakable bond and will be there for one another.

RG, I don’t think it is necessarily back sliding, for Hook to be sarcastic, but when he wants, we have seen him outright demean someone. So I feel he did not go that far in his remarks to Neal.

He didn’t understand the coconut in a shadow thing, and frankly, its not like Neal explained it (and who would have thought, Shadow-stretched to sail-size!). So I took it more as Hook being a bit peeved he had no clue of exactly how this was going to work and being asked to just fall in line, trust his ship and life to someone else. People used to being in charge like a Captain would find that a bit unnerving, and then there’s the question of why Neal didn’t tell him the details. Is it because Neal didn’t have time or did not want to trust him with the details? Whatever is true, Hook might still have thought he was not being trusted and felt annoyed about that too, even though that lack of trust, if that was what it was rather than time, were justified, especially after the lighter incident.

All the same, I do think Hook felt unhappy about Emma and Neal talking and working well. That doesn’t mean he’s all the way ready to bust out the pirate tricks and regress, but he’s human and he gets annoyed, jealous and snarky. He’s still helping the team and he did look genuinely happy about Henry being saved. Of course, maybe a Pan deal might look better now but I still think Hook sticks around so won’t sell them out so badly they would King George him.

    Agreed with all of that.

Medusa was beheaded by Perseus, not Hercules, and was a demi-god. Not sure Regina could take on a demi-god.

HOWEVER it could still be Medusa because the trick with Medusa was the use the mirror to get her to look at her self. Perseus uses a mirror given to him by Athena, goddess of wisdom (I’m simplifying the whole tale, btw).

Regina is fond of mirrors, so they could tie her into the Medusa story through that plot point. If they wanna stick with the actual t-word of myth though, Medusa shouldn’t be alive in Snowing’s time, because when Medusa died, she gave birth to Pegasus, and in the Onceiverse, Pegasus lived about 300 years previously, because the Jones brothers had its feathers for the sail.

    Nope she wasn’t.

So we have a precedent for a surprise Ursula voice cameo. And they know that people would love to see RealUrsula again, so I could see them leaving her out of the press release again to surprise everyone again.

I doubt it if is Ursula remember even Snow thought she was a myth and besides she isn’t a monster.

The press release doesn’t use the word “monster”, it says, “they go in search of a mythical being“. Ursula’s a goddess, which could be referred to as a “being”.

I do think the Medusa idea has merit too though, because of the, “could stop Regina cold in her tracks,” and Medusa turns people to stone, and they have been dipping into Greek myth a bit this season. Considering they’re wrapping up the first half of the season though, I think bringing back Ursula might be a better fit to tie it all together, instead of having a new random character they’re going after.

Belle’s all, “He’s gotta be there, gotta be there, gotta be there, show me the Rump already!”

Has tumblr Photoshopped this into The Floof Family Christmas Card yet? All the reunion pics are glorious, but this one is my fave!

I think it might be Ursula. Because Ursula threatened Regina once before…and there’s the fact that Ariel and Eric were also in the promo.

Ursula would be a good fit IMO. Snow would have even heard about her from Ariel, and would know that Regina impersonated her that one time, so if they could find the real Ursula, she’d have a motive to help them. Yvette Nicole Brown wasn’t in the press release for Ariel, was she?

I’m not sure how they could just let volatile Felix run around free in SB forever, so he seems a likely option to die. But the spoiler did say it would be a “beloved” character, and Felix isn’t exactly that, though I guess Parker has been reasonably popular with fans.

I sorta love the idea of it being Sneaky Fairy, but it seems that she’s maybe gonna share a SB scene with Granny in 312, (Keegan tweeted a pic of herself with what appeared to be Mother Superior hair, and the pic was taken by Beverley), so now I don’t wanna get my hopes up for a cool Sneaky Fairy twist for the “death”.

Also Regina said to Emma that she has ā€œthis personā€ meaning Neal,

I liked how that mirrors the scene where Neal woke up in FTL and when they ask him about Emma he’s doesn’t even know how to describe their current relationship. It’s impossible to put a label on it at the moment, but at the same time it’s impossible to deny that they DO have a connection.

How seemingly easy it was for Regina to adopt Henry- Surely she should’ve had to jump through a few more hoops. The adoption guy hadn’t even heard of Storybrooke, how did he know whether it was real or not?

Having now watched the ep twice, the adoption scenes an extra time, and having thought it through long and hard while typing and re-typing a response to a post from timespacer over in the adoption thread, I’ve ended up concluding that Mr Gold fixed it so that in the system, it looked like Regina’s application had been approved two years ago, and she just happened to be next on the waiting list when Henry’s previous family backed out. If so, then it would explain why this guy wasn’t bothered by not knowing that SB existed, because he’s under the impression that another part of the agency checked all of Regina’s info out and verified it ages ago.

Snow holding Henry and he suddenly stops crying- it just seemed a bit too clichƩ.

On the surface of it, it sorta comes across as one of those moments that many people interpret as the show being pro bio-family. But I think the actual point was that MM was all chill and calm, unlike Regina who was completely unsure and stressed out. Babies can pick up on other people’s emotions, and will respond instinctively, so he was calm with calm MM, and stressed with stressed Regina.

Ya know, if we have pics of Emma with Henry… Does that mean they managed to switch back?

Pan’s meant to freeze everyone standing in the street just before the stabbing, and at that point, Henry has his mothers on either side of him acting protective, while Pan appears to be snarking at them, so I think everyone is back in the correct body by then.

I’m assuming the agent saw all the papers he needed to see to convince him that everything was legit (home visits, tax returns, references, etc…) but I’m guessing a lot of those papers were generated by Mr. Gold greasing the palms of many people. For the right amount of money, lots of reports and court documents could be forged and misfiled. I also agree that it’s not really important that we didn’t see all of that. After all, the episode was about the growth in Regina’s character and the development of her relationship with Henry – not a Mission Impossible plot about the intricate machinations required to pull off an illegal adoption.

Fair point that all the necessary documents were probably forged and sighted by the agent, but I do wish they’d clarified things. Just give Mr Gold an extra line, “All the necessary documents have been falsified and forwarded to the authorities, and your application has been approved. All that remains to be done is for you to go to Boston to collect the child from the unsuspecting agency,” as he handed that envelope over to Regina in his shop.

The way they’ve actually shown it, we’ve got Mr Gold engaging in underhanded tactics, and the agent acting like it’s business as usual, and it feels all disjointed and clear as mud IMO.

After Mr Gold saying, “This morning, I, uh, spoke with an agency,” I was expecting Regina to have been dealing with the person at the agency who he’d been in contact with to set everything up, but this guy doesn’t seem like that person, (if he was, then they should have clarified it with a concerned expression or two, like it was a situation he’d been coerced into). He seems to be someone who is assuming that her application to get on the waiting list was approved two years ago, and she just so happened to be next on the waiting list when the previous family dropped out, (having been paid off by Mr Gold, I assume). I guess they wanted to portray the adoption as having been as legal as possible, so they didn’t want to show or specifically address any of the illegal parts of the process actually happening.
