THIS PIC HAS MADE MY ENTIRE WEEK!!LOVE that Emma is there to see that reunion. Am looking forward to how she reacts when she discovers Neal’s whole history with the Darlings and how he sacrificed himself for them. I wonder if Neal ever mentioned a family he’d once lived with for a short time, without telling Emma the specifics?
I’m gonna guess that Pan left Wendy there so the others would accidentally on purpose stumble on her. So why does Pan want them to find her?

I’m gonna guess that that box being in Pan’s hand wasn’t part of Rumple’s plan?Is that shadow, Pan’s shadow? Rumple’s shadow? Random shadow?
Since we know magical objects retained their magic in cursed Storybrooke, what would’ve happened if Mr Gold sans memories had found Pandora’s box and opened it?
I think with an item like that, Rumple probably put some clause in the Curse that would keep it close to him, but hidden from him, so it couldn’t accidentally be found and/or opened.

ParticipantCrack theory time!
Rumple and his brother Peter were very close as children. However, they had a father who treated them poorly and the two boys decide they need to get away from him. Rumple receives help (I want to say Blue but she isnt in the credits. boo) and is given a way for him an his brother to escape their father:Pandora’s box. However, Peter, being curious about the boxes powers, opens it prematurely. All of the bad entities that reside in Pandoras box rushed out and into the nearest living thing – Pan. Because of this, Pan becomes the big baddie we know (and love) today.
HENCE why Rumple fears him – he knows what he is made of.
Something like this happening would be awesome!

ParticipantWell, we’ve got the JabbaPillar over on WL, so why not the Death Star on OUAT? 😛

ParticipantThey certainly seemed to be fixing to do something to the moon. Something that will end the perpetual night that NL has been stuck in, (it looks lighter when the rainbow sweeps over the island). Are they gonna push it away? Toss it into the ocean? Explode it?

ParticipantWish I knew how to make a gif of it, but skip to 2:36 and watch Blue’s mouth as Belle is pouring the stuff out…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJfmtAaLylQHunted down gifs of it (you can see her mouth moving in the first one, and then not moving any more in the second one)…

ParticipantDid anyone else notice how Sneaky Fairy didn’t want to help Belle cast the spell to cloak Storybrooke? It seems some one was stalling… she could have had that whole town cloaked in an instant. Perhaps someone was hoping Belle would fail.
SNEAKY FAIRY
Her expression through that whole scene was intriguing. There was absolutely something sneaky going on inside her head!
She looks like she is mouthing something when Belle says the spell too.
I just went back to re-watch, and as Belle is dumping the stuff onto the rock, Blue’s looking right at it and her mouth is absolutely moving like she’s silently mouthing words! It’s only while Belle’s pouring the stuff out, and then her mouth stops moving!

ParticipantA word about Hook’s reform. I think I can say it here since this is our place. I was really bothered by how fast and the circumstances surrounding Hook’s sudden desire to become a pirate. Yes, your brother dying is incredibly sad and that will haunt you for all of time. But…Liam..was an idiot. I mean who on earth takes a plant they know nothing about and cuts themselves to prove a point?! Hiking 101, guys! His backstory, for me, wasn’t anywhere near as sad as Rumple’s or Regina’s. To me it was more like Cora. Cora has a tragic upbringing but she let one incident define her future. This is why I had such a problem with 305. Rumple suffered years of mental abuse for his entire life. Regina suffered mental abuse and physical abuse from Cora and then had her lovers heart ripped out. Hook had what was a good life, despite being left by his father. He had an older brother who loved him and looked out for him and made sure he grew up right. And I’m not trying to diminish Hook’s loss by any means but becoming a pirate seemed like such a leap! (ok ok ok Im done) But I’m not a Hook expert, maybe Phee will shed some light for me.
At the moment I’m into the idea of him having an obsessive personality, and that’s what they’re trying to show. Sailor Killian was tossing bottles of rum away, but you’d better believe that he got blind drunk that night after his pirate speech, and he never looked back, replacing his obsessive good form with obsessive bad form, but trying to convince himself that his new behaviour was just a redefinition of good form. And he’s been convincing himself of it ever since, and boyfriend has an ego now, so admitting that his attitude is wrong wouldn’t be an easy thing for him to do.
Maybe that’s playing on his mind in relation to Neal. What I’d been hoping for was that Hook would take Bae’s declaration that, “You’ll never change,” as a challenge to prove him wrong in present day. He started down that path when he turned the ship around and took the bean back, and offered them a ride to NL, and helped guide them around the place. He was helping others instead of just thinking of himself, he was changing, he was proving Bae wrong. Until he saved Charming’s life with the ulterior motive of getting a kiss from Emma. And he’d been doing so well up until that point. *sigh* Maybe his ego still has too much of a hold on him. Maybe he’s been a womaniser for so long that he just couldn’t resist the challenge. I do think that he legitimately wasn’t prepared for how that kiss affected him. He was playing his usual, flirty game, and he got burned…for the first time ever…because every other time he’s played the flirting game, he’s been in total control.
I hope he gets another centric at some point to flesh out his childhood. Seeing the brothers lose their parents would no doubt go a fair way to garnering some more sympathy for and understanding. I’ve seen some discussion around the place that perhaps he’s got an Oedipus Complex, which is why he enjoyed taking other men’s wives, many of whom were most likely mothers, and then he sailed off with Bae’s mother, and now he’s hitting on Emma, who is also a mother, in fact she’s in full on motivated mother mode right now, so if Hook’s got Oedipus issues, it would make sense for him to be all hot and bothered over seeing her like that. If NL makes you revert to your base self, and if his issues began as a child when he lost his mother, and NL is forcing that little lonely boy emotion to the surface, then Oedipus issues would be in overdrive. We’ve had other references to Greek myth this season, one of them even exclusively related to Hook’s backstory with Pegasus, so maybe the Oedipus thing isn’t that much of a stretch. We’d really need to see a flashback to his childhood to know for sure though, so this is all just speculation.
Getting back to Killian’s drastic reaction after losing his brother, I’ve wondered if they showed such a close bond between them, so much so that losing his brother instantly destroyed him, as setup for showing us a contrasting relationship between Rumple and his brother Pan. But we dunno for sure yet that they’re gonna turn out to be brothers, so again, it’s just speculation.

ParticipantWelcome to the thread, Katie! 🙂
Just got caught up on the last several pages and I wanna hug all of your posts and scream AMEN!
Honestly, it seems pretty blatant to me that they’re writing Hook as the bad guy in this situation. It feels like they’re writing him in a pretty extremely negative way when it comes to his treatment of Emma. And I have to think that the reason they’re doing that is that they’re writing a crash and burn for CS, so they’ll eventually be able to move on with developing SF without the possibility of CS still lingering in the background to distract from the story they really want to tell. So while the current situation hurts and sucks, I’m holding out hope that there’s a method to the madness. If you think of Kitswitz as people, do you think they’d be like Hook in their treatment of women? I’d like to think not. I’d like to think that they respect the women they’re in relationships with, and for that reason, I can’t imagine them compromising their morals, no matter what ABC publicity might want, to have their heroine end up with a guy who acts like Hook. They wrote SF as being “poetic”, that’s Adam’s own word he used. They see the beauty in SF’s story, and I believe that after all the pain, separation and angst, SF are gonna get a beautiful, happy ending.
Also, I want to remind everyone that LilRedSoupBowl on tumblr has been putting together all the voting for Nealfire’s fan names. I’m pretty sad at the finalists, after months of voting. 🙁 But she is still taking submissions so if you have any ideas, get them in LIKE TODAY.
My fav was Darlings, but Baelonians beat it. Today I’ve suggested she add “DarlingFires” “DarlingBaebies” and “DarlingHeroes” because now that we know the Darlings aren’t evil, and knowing how selfless he always has been, I would just like to honor his selflessness with our fan name :-/I’ve been sorta watching the voting, but haven’t participated because I didn’t really like any of the options that much, and I’m also just a lurker on tumblr, not an active poster. I remember back before the voting began, I saw a post where someone suggest Braeves, and I instantly loved that one. It fits his character so well, embraces all the sacrifice he’s made and how selfless he is, and how he’s still hanging in there all this time later, and especially now with his resolve to fight for Emma…I just think Braeves would be PERFECT.
(ETA that I sent in a message to LilRedSoupBowl suggesting Braeves be considered for the vote. Hope I did it right, I’m not used to sending messages and posting stuff on tumblr.)

Participantyoung Rumplestiltskin is given a magical item that could help him make a fresh start with his father
Well that’s gonna make the Rumple/Bae portal scene a frillion times more painful to re-watch in the future.
I didn’t see any credits for a brother or other young boy. So, I’m thinking that sort of squashes the Rumple/Pan/Bro theory.
I don’t think it squashes anything yet, because I never expected there to be a younger Pan cast. If they’re brothers, I always just expected we’d see a flashback to Pan looking the same age he is now, around the time he went to NL.
Maybe Rumple seeks out the way to get a fresh start, and maybe that fresh start includes he and his father getting away from his bully of an older brother. Older brother figures out what’s going on, takes the magical item for himself and ends up in NL for his own fresh start. Maybe he even takes their father with him out of spite, and leaves baby brother behind just like baby brother was intending to leave HIM behind. So Rumple becomes an orphan and goes to live with the spinsters.
It could still go the other way given the 311 set photos, but to my mind, the Brothers theory still makes more sense, and I think it’d be odd if they just ignored that whole plot point from Barrie’s original where Pan has a younger brother, and he feels replaced, which plays a significant role in him going to NL. I’m sure it’ll be a great story however they’ve written it, but I’m sticking to TeamBrothers until the bitter end.
Have they ever notably left out actors who do make a small appearance? I would so love it if Blue would up being the one who gave Rumble the item, whatever it is. (Hmm. Maybe the doll?) Would be an interesting parallel to when she later gives Bae the bean.
Don’t think there’s been an instance where anyone’s been left off. I agree, an appearance by Blue in this storyline would be perfect.
We know Tink and Neal are working with everyone else so I don’t see why they didn’t include them in this line unless they don’t actually go up against Pan but are working on some side thing while the others end up going straight to where Pan is. Either way it makes NO sense. BOTH should have been included in that AND/OR there should have been a line mentioning what they WERE doing because most of the others are accounted for!
I know why. It has to do with Marketing. The marketing depo of ABC and the writing team of ABC are two totally different things with different agenda and strategies. The job of the marketing depo is to sell the show to advertisers for money. They could care less about the actual plot, they want to know how to sell the show. And sexy jungle romp is a classic. Will there be any sexy fun time? No, Emma has just told both of them this. But ABC marketing just wants to say, “advertisers look! smoulder time!”
Pretty much. It’d be great if Kat’s idea about a side mission to save Wendy proves true, but considering the official Twitter account for the show doesn’t even respect the character of Neal enough to bother spelling his name correctly, I’m pretty cynical when it comes to their non-promotion of the character. *sigh*
