ParticipantBTW, I like that after the “fruit of my labours,” line, as he’s looking up at the star map, there’s a really quick, subtle hint of half a smile, like he’s thinking, “Impressive work, m’boy.”
Hook really did think of Bae as his son. He really is in mourning over the child that he both rejected and rejected him. And not even cause Bae was his last tangible connection to Milah but for Bae’s very self. He had such fatherly pride seeing how Bae was able to survive on his own.
I’ve got the CaptainFire FEELS. *sigh*
Guys, at the beginning of the episode, Bae was drawing something. Can anyone get a screenshot?
There was a pic that Robert (I think) tweeted before the ep aired. Had a book lying on a table with a sketch of Rumple in it. I think that’s what Bae was supposed to have been drawing.

ParticipantHook: There was a short time in Neverland when Baelfire was aboard my ship. I taught him to navigate using the stars. What you’re looking at, is the fruit of my labours.
Regina: Then you can read it?
Hook: Sadly no.
Charming: I thought you just said you taught him how.
Hook: Yes but I also taught Neal something else, the key to being a pirate. Secrecy. The best Captains conceal their maps in a code. He was an apt pupil. What exactly constitutes, “a short time in Neverland” though?

ParticipantI loved the scene outside the cave, after the others go in, and it’s just the two of them, and Hook looks seriously conflicted about keeping the secret. On the one hand, he wants to earn Charming’s trust, so he’s gotta keep his mouth shut. On the other han – hook, he knows that Charming’s family deserve to know and would want to know. I wonder if the conflict he’s feeling might relate in some way to an experience from his own past? I agree with RG that Hook’s gonna reveal the truth to them all soon.

ParticipantFinally, does everybody remember the deleted scene from season two which showed Neal and Henry at the helm of the Jolly Roger as they sailed into Storybrooke from Manhattan? Their conversation about navigation now seems to contain even more foreshadowing than we originally thought!
YES, I totally thought of that scene when Neal was talking about navigating by the stars. Little did we know just how accomplished at it he was.

ParticipantI like your promo inspired headcanon, RG!

ParticipantSwan Upping is an annual ceremonial and practical activity in Britain in which mute swans on the River Thames are rounded up, caught, marked, and then released.
Traditionally, the British Monarch retains the right to ownership of all unmarked mute swans in open water, but only exercises ownership on certain stretches of the River Thames and its surrounding tributaries. This dates from the 12th century, during which time swans were a common food source for royalty. Swan Upping is a means of establishing a swan census and today also serves to check the health of swans. Under a Royal Charter of the 15th century, the Vintners’ Company and the Dyers’ Company, two Livery Companies of the City of London, are entitled to share in the Sovereign’s ownership. They conduct the census through a process of ringing the swan’s feet, but the swans are no longer eaten.
Swan Upping occurs annually during the third week of July. During the ceremony, the Queen’s, the Vintners’, and the Dyers’ Swan Uppers row up the river in skiffs. Swans caught by the Queen’s Swan Uppers under the direction of the Swan Marker are unmarked, except for a ring linked to the database of the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO). Those caught by the Dyers’ and Vintners are identified as theirs by means of a further ring on the other leg. Today, only swans with cygnets are caught and ringed. This gives a yearly snapshot as to how well Thames swans are breeding. Originally, rather than being ringed, the swans would be marked on the bill, a practice reflected in the pub name The Swan with Two Necks, a corruption of “The Swan with Two Nicks”.

ParticipantI love how some have said that because Emma calls Nealfire Neal, that she never really knew who he truly was. Yet in this episode he said multiple times that he wanted to be called Neal (to both Pan and his father), which to me shows that she did really know him
Excellent point!
This is a really random question but do we know the story of the hoop circle necklace Emma wears? Cause it reminds me of Regina and Daniel’s ring/necklace. Also hoops/circles are a symbol of eternal love. Thought I’d ask here first.
I believe JMo picked it and it has something to do with swans that are owned by the Queen having rings around their necks?

ParticipantSo I’m guessing this is Devin?
And I’m also guessing he’s lying about Henry?
And I’m positive he’s insane for just tossing away chocolate.

ParticipantMy theory is that Hook made a deal with Pan to leave the island saying he would kill Rumple in exchange for Bae’s freedom.
So that’s how and when Bae ended up living in the cave instead? Though, Hook knew about the cave, so Bae had to have been there at some point before Hook left. I do like the idea of Hook having made a deal that benefited Bae.
Considering the promo, I’m wondering if this deal could even be something Pan planted the seed for way back before Hook became a pirate. Maybe it was an, “I’ll make you a pirate Captain, and one day, you’ll owe me,” situation, and Hook had to do something for Pan in order to get out of NL?

ParticipantNeal rejecting Rumple and freezing him with the squid ink. Neal should have at least let Rumple accompany him as protection whilst he went to find Emma.
Neal couldn’t trust him though. Rumple *poofed* them to wherever they were, because Neal had to ask where they were, and Rumple said on the other side of the island. So if Rumple suddenly decided that he was gonna kill Henry after all, in a split second, he and Henry could *poof* away, and Neal would have no idea where they’d gone and no control over it. (This scenario was shown in the flashbacks, when Rumple *poofed* himself and Bae away from Pan’s bonfire.) He couldn’t take that chance with Henry’s life.
