It seems like every time they casually mention characters that they’d love to do someday if it’s possible and if they fit in the story, people take it as confirmation that these characters are definitely gonna be on the show in the immediate future. Like, seriously, is it really that hard to grasp the concept that of course they’d love to play with as many toys as possible on their show, but it’s a matter of having the opportunity and if the timing works out?

Question: Is whether Hook is good or evil an ongoing theme this season?
O’Donoghue: He’s a guy who’s battling with whether he wants to continue with his quest for revenge or not and how that’s shaped his whole character over whatever number of hundreds of years. I think it’s very difficult not to be selfish anymore when you’ve been so selfish and so self-absorbed for hundreds of years, so I guess that’s kind of a big struggle he’s going to have this season.
Question: We’ve seen Hook show many different facets before. What do you think the character’s identity is in Season 3?
O’Donoghue: I think the character in Season 3 is definitely, he’s sort of… He’s at conflict with himself really, you know what I mean? He’s desperately trying to figure out exactly who he is now, because I do think he wants to let go of his hatred, his quest for revenge. I think he wants that, he wants to try to do the right thing. But also, within the confines of being Captain Hook, and a pirate, I think that’s a major struggle that he’s having at the minute. Because even if he tries to do some good, there’s always going to be that part of him that is going to want to be selfish and makes sure that he’s protected that kind of way.
This is what we’ve been saying all along about Hook repeating the mistakes of his past or becoming a better person. Hearing Colin talk about how Hook is having a genuine personal struggle this season, and especially seeing him use terms like, “selfish” and “self-absorbed” gives me hope that they’re gonna give him that character development I’ve been wanting to see, for his own sake just as much as for how it’d affect the triangle. If his struggle is gonna involve trying to be less self-absorbed, then surely that must involve him considering how his pursuing Emma would hurt Nealfire.
First of all, I just have to get it out of my system that I love how Colin says, “at the minute”, for some reason I find it utterly adorable!!
Needless to say, I totally agree with you all that we NEED to see a juicy Hook/Pan confrontation, preferably in both the past and the present, pretty please.

Can’t wait to see his personal struggle unfold. Bad habits are hard to break at the best of times, let alone when you’ve had said habit for 100s of years. I’ll bet they’ve given Colin some great, juicy, angsty stuff to sink his teeth into for the upcoming eps.
O’Donoghue: Yeah, you get to see a bit more of his reasons behind being the way that he is and being such a, I guess, alone character. You’ll definitely see different colors to Hook and to Killian Jones before he becomes Hook. You begin to understand a little bit more why he is so self-absorbed, apart from the whole stuff with Milah, and why he’s a pirate; how he becomes a pirate and all that kind of stuff, which is brilliant. I think the guys have done a great job with that.

I just NEED some CaptainFire scenes. I always go back to Queen is Dead when Nealfire just looks so sad and tortured about Hook. Emma totally aside, I NEED their history already.
God YES, I seriously can’t wait to see adult Nealfire interacting with Hook so we can learn some more about what their relationship was like in the past, and hopefully see it evolve and heal in present day.
I may be biased here, but I don’t foresee the yelling coming from Emma. I think she is going to feel a mix of joy at discovering Neal is alive and perhaps some guilt about kissing Hook. I could see Neal yelling at Hook for making a play for Emma since that will trigger feelings of anger over Hook seducing his mother.
Oh I absolutely see Neal losing his ish at Hook. And unfortunately, I see people who already dislike Neal using that against him. But honestly, it’d be more surprising if he didn’t lash out about it IMO, because when Neal finds out that Hook’s kissed the woman he loves, it’s completely natural that that would dredge up the same anger we saw him have as a boy when he confronted Hook about his mother.

I know Anastasia Tremaine is supposed to be Cinderella’s stepsister, but could they maybe make her her bio sister instead?

I like the rest of your theory, though. And they could just claim that she was only their step sister in Cursed SB.
I was sorta thinking that if she was her bio sister, that’s just part of the story we’ve never heard properly, because she left the family when her father remarried and she wanted nothing to do with her new stepmother.
Phee that would be the most brilliant way to bring Jefferson into it without bringing him into it.
This is what I’m thinking, because surely he’s gotta get more of a mention in the WL show than just seeing his empty house? Didn’t that sign outside the Tulgey Wood say it had been secured for safe residence by the RQ or something like that? Maybe she did that so Jefferson had somewhere safe to live in WL?
Even if it’s angst and yelling, I’m good with that. I just wanna see them back together and being emotionally open with each other.
I think it would be hilarious just to see Rumple discover his true love is half-fairy.
This is why I can’t completely discount it as a possibility. They’ve made such a point of how much he hates Fairies, it would actually be a cool twist to reveal that his true love is half Fairy.
Bunch of randomness popped into my head whilst scrolling through WL tags on tumblr, and I stuck some stuff together to make a crackpot theory…

Maybe when their father remarried, the older of his daughters left because her stepmother was so horrible. And she ran off to marry Jefferson, because I can’t get over how much Emma Rigby looks like the girl who plays Grace. She became his partner on jobs whenever he needed a +1 to stay back in any given world, and while she was waiting behind for him in WL, something happened to her which meant he couldn’t get her back, so she got imprisoned or cursed or something and was stuck there in WL, and after a while began her plot to become Queen and take over WL. And the Knave fell in love with her, and agreed to help her to try and take down his boss, QoH. And when Anastasia did manage to become RQ, she had no further use for him and tossed him aside, and his comment about never truly moving on if you’ve ever loved someone is because Anastasia is still in love with Jefferson. And whatever game she’s playing right now is her attempt to finally get back to him and their daughter.
