ParticipantHe seems like the type who will do anything for a price. He was about to walk away from Alice until she said she’d pay him, and after he put the cash down for the coffee in Granny’s, he picked it up again. So he seems to have a selfish streak. I could see him having been a mercenary type, working for and screwing over anyone who was willing to pay him, and that’s why so many people in WL justifiably want him dead.
Really curious to see how and why he jumped between worlds, and what his position as Knave of Hearts involved.

ParticipantJust re-watched, and liked RQ a bit more this time. In the scene with Jafar, it’s actually a bit unnerving how quickly she can go from being choked with tears in her eyes, to being calm and composed and putting him in his place. She’s got a very different demeanour to the Evil Queen we’re used to. RQ is far more reserved, and I dare say, more calculating than Regina. RQ is taking the time to “set up the board”, but Regina just reacts and goes in all guns blazing. So I think this new style of Queen might take a bit of getting used to, but I think I’m gonna like her a lot.
The only CGI shot that really made me cringe was the final shot where it swoops in on Alive, Knave and WR, walking along the path. RQ’s castle also looked really CGI, but that castle has such a cool design that I didn’t mind it looked kinda fake. It’s weird how they can be so dead on with some of the CGI, like the Rabbit, and the Caterpillar, but still manage to make the scenery shots look fake.
Love Cheshire’s line, “I’m stranger, you’re stranger, together we are…strangers.”
Tiny little Knave thing I loved was his cheesy little grin right after he was all, “Can we focus on the bit where I came back to save your life?” Standing there with the stolen shoes slung over his shoulder, stolen wishes in his pocket, and a sweet little smile. I like that Alice doesn’t take his crap. They’re fun together. I also loved how when she was kicking butt and snapping necks in the asylum, he stood back with a little grin, all, “That’s my girl,” and he didn’t bother getting involved in the fight because he knew she could totally take care of herself. I get a sibling vibe from them, but half of tumblr is already shipping them.

ParticipantYep, they revealed a while back, (might have been at D23) that his name is Will, which is what fueled the speculation. đ
It’s confirmed in the official ep synopsis for 103, which posted here: https://oncepodcast.com/forums/topic/1×03-forget-me-not-episode-synopsys/

Participant*I* was the one in Barbaraâs chatroom trying to explain about the fictional London- she was driving me crazy! I couldnât understand how she couldnât get what I was trying to say. Clearly Alice is not from real world Victorian London because they show Storybrooke existing at the same time as she was in the asylum. Adam has said Alice is from fictional London and the Darlings are in real London which is a bit odd because how can fictional characters exist in the real world?
Ah, well thank you for at least trying to explain it to her, because I was about ready to yell at my computer in frustration when I was listening to it! It is an oddity that they’ve turned the fictional characters of the Darlings into real world people, but I think that once you have the info that Adam has stated that they’re in RealLondon, and Alice is in FictionalLondon, it’s not that hard to wrap your head around who’s where and when. (Though Neal’s line about this world not having been his first stop will never not bug me, but it is what it is.)

ParticipantRed Queen, she definitely lacked the presence and sinister snark that Lana brings the Evil Queen, but it is not just that she looked like a little girl playing dress up. That could be chilling too as we saw with the playful cheeky tone Robbie Kay gave PP. She just did not seem scary.
I know this is just a little thing, but I wonder if the way they did her makeup could be contributing to why she didn’t come across quite as menacing as she could have? I was bothered a bit by her lack of red lipstick…she’s the freaking Red Queen, she’s all about wearing RED…but she’s got nude lips? And she didn’t have dramatic eye makeup either, like Lana always has. I think maybe they need to vamp RQ up a bit more, and then she’ll look more sly, and automatically sound a bit more menacing.
Hokey marshmallow joke.
It went on a bit, but I did love Knave’s line about dying like a smore. đ
No mention of Knave struggling with cursed identity (did he not just wake up?)
Good point. Though I’m gonna guess that they just didn’t wanna have to explain all of that on the spinoff, because they’ve said they wanted it to be a show that someone who has never seen Once, would still be able to follow. If they mentioned his cursed identity, they’d have to do a whole bit explaining that for anyone who may not be familiar with the parent show, and that would go against their trying to keep them relatively separate. The Greetings From Storybrooke Podcast have roped in a friend of theirs who has never seen Once, to watch Wonderland, to see what a total newbie to the Onceiverse makes of it.
Reference to Hatter and his house.
Yes, I loved this! Though it made me miss Jefferson.
I didnât want to start another thread but the overly convenient necklace Alice found on the ground (suddenly and so miraculously!) bothers me. Did the White Rabbit put it there?
That’s the impression I got, that he planted it there on his way in.

ParticipantMaybe itâs like the vortex. Thatâs what I think. The hole needs to close back up after they go through it because otherwise it would be an open doorway between worlds. So the rabbitâs magic that opened the hole also closes it back up after theyâre through the portal.
That explanation works for me.

ParticipantThe Knave cracks me up! đ Can tell I’m gonna love that cynical bugger.
Wanna give the Rabbit a hug, because he totally loves Alice but has no choice but to help the RQ and I just want the poor little guy to not be stuck in that position.
Cheshire Cat was creepy cool.
Am super intrigued by whatever it is RQ and Jafar have going on. Why do they each want what they want?
I didnât like the wardrobe change on the Red Queen though disappointing, the other one was so much moreâŚchesty
I was sorta baffled by the costume change for that scene. Even if they wanted to re-shoot it, why not just use the same costume again? Took me out of the scene for a second. I also prefer her little hand flick in the previous version of it, so kinda wish they hadn’t re-shot it.
One thing that did bother, and we were saying this in the chat too, but if they donât want to confuse people they really need to stop with the âLondon, Englandâ thing. This is FICTIONAL London, not real London. People will think time travel is possible is they keep that up. And then weâre in a world of trouble for ONCE.
In one of Barbara Barnett’s recent podcasts, where she was talking about having seen this ep, there was confusion because she was implying it was the same London that Bae was in, and people in the chat were trying to explain to her that no it wasn’t, and they’ve confirmed it’s different, and it was such a hot mess. Barbara’s pretty well connected and clued in with this show, so if even she doesn’t realise there’s a difference, then, yeah, URGH.

ParticipantRG, I think he was probably just speaking generally about his overall life before meeting Milah.
You begin to understand a bit more why he is so self-absorbed, apart from the whole thing with Milah and why heâs a pirate. [It’s about] how he becomes a pirate, which is brilliant. The guys have done a great job with that.â
Seriously can’t wait for this! Really looking forward to seeing who he was in his pre-pirate days, and how that all happened, and what events/people caused him to change. He’s a bit of an enigma right now, but this ep should give us lots of juicy character development for him.
And yes, it’s good to have the marriage question clarified.

ParticipantI’m almost positive he’ll join the others in 307. As for when he’ll actually arrive…303/304 feels too early to me, but spoilers for 303 do make it sound like it’s not gonna take forever for him to find a way to make a portal out of FTL. But I’ve been thinking that maybe if we’re gonna see Ariel realm jump from NL to SB in 306, perhaps that will be when we also see Neal realm jump from FTL to NL, and the two events might even be connected somehow.
Dunno that I want him hanging out with Rumple. I think it might have more of an impact if the first time Neal sees his father in NL, it’s when the storyline is about the climax, because I’m guessing Rumple will be pretty out of his mind by that point, so there’d be more shock value for Neal to see him like that. I also think that if Rumple is hanging out with Neal, that may ground him a bit too much, and then he may not need the Belle vision as much, and we know we’re getting more Belle visions.
PS. Hi Ashley! đ

ParticipantTHE BADDIES ARE RELUCTANT ALLIES The Red Queen finds Alice to just be âa little girl thatâs now causing her some annoyance,â reveals her portrayer Emma Rigby (Hollyoaks). In fact, her goal is much larger than just wanting to get the Wonderland interloper out of the picture. âShe has a motive. Itâs not necessarily that she hates Alice or she wants to kill her. Itâs something else much grander, something thatâs never been done before, that she wants to achieve.â To that end, she allies herself with Jafar (Lostâs Naveen Andrews), who may turn out to be more foe than friend. âThey need each other. But they also donât trust each other,â explains Rigby. âYouâve got to always watch your back. They know that without the power that they both have, theyâll never ever move forward to get what they both want â and what they both want is conflicting.â
I’m super curious to see what all this is about and how it’s gonna play out!
âHe spent a long time there with his love. He just [forgot] everybody, and he decided to live on his own. He doesnât trust anybody, he doesnât need anybody, he doesnât want anybody. Alice comes back into his life, and thatâs his only care.â
Who is the Knaveâs love? Is it possible Liz the Lizard?
That would be my guess, considering we thought she looked Merry (wo)Man-ish, and we now have it confirmed that he’s Will Scarlet.
